You need a small diesel heater, the same as they use for van builds, tap into your diesel tank and you have plenty of heating capability that doesn't rely on battery.
that's smart, we have some of those yellow jets at the shop that usually last all day and some on one tank. obviously he shouldn't use that kind of shop heater unless he wants to cook himself alive lol.
True Blue Travelers build campers and trek all over the world, and all of their cold weather rigs use those tiny little diesel heater pumps. very simple, not expensive, and put out good heat for the fuel consumed
My old Live trucks that I used had generators that drew off the main gas tank. The generator fuel intake was set high enough in the tank so if it had LESS THAN a quarter tank the genny wouldn't run. It would be easy to do the same thing with this rig and a diesel heater. The camper shell is small enough he could probably use one of the Vevor heater units like "Ken's Karpentry" (YT channel) is doing with his Vardo camper trailer.
I've been watching you for years so when I hear the phrase "I did not prepare well" I just kind of laughed to myself because that's your MO. Much love ❤
We use heated blankets plugged into our battery, they only use around 100 watts. Lay them on your mattress and sleep on top of them, makes a huge difference. Saves you from running The heater all night
My buddy brought electric heated socks camping, and they drained an entire portable battery every night. I don't know how hot his socks got, but I was suprised at how much power they used.
Love your rig!!!! Love everything about you: you, your rig, your style, your slightly irreverent sense of humor, your sense of adventure, your adventures! I vote to delete the repetitive music. You are music. There is no need to fill the background with someone else's creation. We just want more of YOU!
@ Thank you. I am just over 50 years old. Run 5 km regularly and eat pretty good. Turns out my body makes to much bad cholesterol and caused a 100% blockage. I was dead for approximately 5 to 6 mins before they revived me with CPR and a couple shots of the defibrillator. They say i will make a 100% recovery now after having a Stent put in. Anyways guys have your Cholesterol checked and if its high get a CT scan.
Driving in the snow could not be more beautiful than ever! My 1st time driving in snow was early this year in Yosemite and was excited but nervous at the same time! Wish California weather was like Portland every winter! W for the truck 💪
First vid of yours I’ve watched. Not sure I will continue. It was interesting, but that music was so grating on my ears. Had a seemingly five second loop time on that one riff, over and over and over and over again.
Portland, Oregon is blessed with natural beauty. Mount Hood, Cannon beach, the woods, Multnomah Falls, etc… I was fortunate to go thr for business trip. I hope I can visit Portland again..
I do a lot of winter camping and hunting in a custom built trailer. When the weather is crap and everyone leaves the fire at 6:30 there is no shame in retreating to the camper to shut out the wind, rain, or snow, enjoy a movie, and crank the heat. After all that is why we built it with all the creature comforts we did!
White River snow park??? I’m an Eagle Scout Class of 1986. Spent many a weekend at the BSA lodge at White River. With my family as a kid we cross country skied White River canyon. Even digging snow caves for a weekend stay. Fun Stuff!!!
I live in the Bellevue/Seattle area and it's pretty insane the amount of fallen trees and power outages the day after the storm. Like 80% of the Puget sound around had no power and I physically couldn't make it to work since all the roads surrounding me had massive trees blocking the roads. Stay safe!
A Little Diesel heater will be a great investment for the Camper build plus a Horn Blaster's Train horn setup for the Camper is a must. Need to let everyone know that you are are arriving
You basically made the trip I make in my camper almost every weekend in the winter. As others have said. Diesel heater is the way to go for winter rv camping. You can get them for just a bit over $100 Too bad you didn’t drive a little farther and stay at RV Row at Mt Hood Meadows. The skiing last weekend was awesome 😉
Just wanted to let you know Chris, Bought that 6000W Anker Solix and it's little brother along with two of the portable solar panels last time you had them for a sponsor. Also bought their 347 Power Bank (40W) for phones etc. Great products. Really happy with them!
As far as starlink goes, you could probably build a weather proof hole to run your cables through. Either if you mount it on the roof or on the ground. I would also suggest adding something like a chromecast or amazon firestick that way you don't even need any other machine connected to the TV and only need an active internet connection to watch things. For accessing your roof, you might consider building a foldable ladder that can be stored neatly against the back of the truck when not in use. When it comes to heaters, buy you a cheap wattage/amp tester that you can plug devices into before you add the items to the truck. That way you get an idea of what the wattage requirements are prior to deciding for certain what portable battery you want to go with for power.
2 videos in one day? Anybody else think he was trying to set an auto upload or upload private for later date(next week?….later this week?…etc) But accidentally posted NOW so he just left it, said “o well” and left it anyway? Whatever the reason I like it. Thanks Chris, and even tho they’re not in the video, anybody else involved(Kyle etc)
Aside from the obvious diesel heater; if you install the smallest mini split you can find, it will give more energy efficient heat in winter and AC in summer.
I love any video of you driving your cars that you build, Chris! It's amazing watching car builds, but it is more awesome seeing you driving and enjoying it. ❤
There is a built in heater in star link dish. The option to turn in on is in the app settings on your phone. Unless they removed this feature. My Buddy propane heater and a 20lbs tank will keep you plenty warm. Just get a carbomonoxide detector though. We want to see the rest of the boat build😂
My big brain idea for the day, install remote start so when you’re sleeping you can reach over and click the truck on to run the heater so you never have to leave your sleeping bag. Ha.
The big thing I’d say you should do is get a thermal camera, that way when you’re in the cold and the interior of the truck is warm you can monitor and find any temperature leaks and insulate those parts so you don’t have to run the heater constantly
It would help to separate the rear area from the front with a thick curtain. This would reduce the workload on the trucks heater/AC while driving, decrease the space that needs to be heated at night, and make driving much quieter.
I use an electric oil heater for my chicken coop. They use a bit less power overall and because they are self contained, we don't have much of any fire risk.
Man once you finish it out its going to be so great! A diesel heater would be great. But have you thought of a diesel generator? A generator would give you the ability to run heat, ac, and everything. It would be expensive, but for what you ar eplanning inthink a built in diesel generator would be amazing. Also this is a bit crazier, but you could find a used one off of an old rv. they are bullet proof and almost always have low hours. Junkyard digs basically roadkills an ev every year for nascar and they always seem to get the generators working. Anyways thanks for the great content!
Hey, modern diesel don’t do well idling for many hours because the soot from the engine doesn’t get burnt and eventually clogs the exhaust pipe. They make little heaters that run on diesel. I would highly recommend it.
Now you just need to get into boat camping. It's the best. My 2x LS3 swapped sport fish might finally get in the water for testing this coming spring. 😏
From Australia - did 6 weeks in Oregon and that was very dim and wet . .so wet - never experienced anything like it. Used to live in Toronto, so I was OK with cold.
Need to get an AC/Battery Carbon Monoxide Alarm in there. Especially with running the truck for heat/power charging, in case you fall asleep while it's still running.
Big lesson to not overwork yourself and your main contributor in completing projects even if you pay well. Shout out to Oscar for working like a machine for as long as he did.
You could attach dish to the roof on a rotating bracket and put in a handle inside to rotate it and/or change the angle to get better coverage. Also good for shaking off the snow.
Dodge offered an ambulance package and a snow plow package for these trucks that got the buyer another alternator and a few other things that I can't remember. Maybe you could find a setup in a junkyard for that rig of yours. Or you could go another route and get a big alternator they use in car stereo installs.
Love the content. But bro you shouldve insalted the ceiling before doing the cold stuff lol ,love the video tho cant wait to see more. Also this build is my favorite series
Doesn’t matter what you put in the box. That’s your rolling office, when out in nature it’s your home. Put what ever you want in the back that will make you and the other guys or who ever comfortable.
So I really want you to do your SEMA build next year whilst towing it across the country in a box trailer with the camper. Visiting fellow RUclipsrs on the way. 🎉🎉
Being a Florida native, I could not handle being without 12 hours of light during the day. Even in the winter we have almost a full 12 hours. Even when I go to Los Angeles I can tell the difference in the amount daylight in a day. Had a Puerto Rican buddy from here move to Portland, asked him how he delt with it. He said he didn't like it but he moved to be with his girlfriend.
I get people saying enjoy nature but if you use it as a gaming/party rig during the night that would be awesome. But I'd say check the sound proofing if you plan on going to popular camping areas
Chris, it's looking pretty damn awesome, but I hope that you don't take forever to do the rest of the work that's needed to get it finished completely🧐🤔. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Try a Vevor diesel heater, it’ll have that camper hot in the worst weather, you can even have the whole unit outside and just pipe in the forced air so you don’t hear the ticking.
You need a small diesel heater, the same as they use for van builds, tap into your diesel tank and you have plenty of heating capability that doesn't rely on battery.
Definitely a good idea
that's smart, we have some of those yellow jets at the shop that usually last all day and some on one tank. obviously he shouldn't use that kind of shop heater unless he wants to cook himself alive lol.

Could do an apu for heat cooling and power
Two vids in one day! 😱😱 helllll yeah!
@@lwtc_o2r756 He has a sponsor every video bro, it really doesnt matter imo
Giveaway for a power bank possible?
I've been watching you for years so when I hear the phrase "I did not prepare well" I just kind of laughed to myself because that's your MO. Much love ❤
You can put the starlink dish on the ground, the signal is coming from outer space, the extra 10ft doesn't matter
:)😄
As long as no one steals it.
As long as Mr Plow sees the white square dish in the floor when clearing snow at night 🤔
@davidndhlovu2011 it's slightly elevated and probably less reflective than snow.
LMFAO 😂
We use heated blankets plugged into our battery, they only use around 100 watts. Lay them on your mattress and sleep on top of them, makes a huge difference. Saves you from running The heater all night
2 B is for Build episodes in one day? What a treat.
I see you 👀
Chris, the time lapse of the sunrise, clouds, and mountains at 19:00 is absolutely beautiful
Lol yeah electric heaters use a TON of energy. And yes, a diesel heater will do you wonders in that camper.
My buddy brought electric heated socks camping, and they drained an entire portable battery every night. I don't know how hot his socks got, but I was suprised at how much power they used.
been living in a solar powered RV a couple years now. space heaters draw too much power, but heated blankets don't. you'll sleep snugly.
Theres a reason why RV's etc is light colors often. Your truck in the summer time is gonna become a sauna
Love your rig!!!! Love everything about you: you, your rig, your style, your slightly irreverent sense of humor, your sense of adventure, your adventures! I vote to delete the repetitive music. You are music. There is no need to fill the background with someone else's creation. We just want more of YOU!
Wow, this is epic! Do more like this!
old BisforBuild is back!!!
buy a diesel heater bro, they are cheap and blast out heaps of heat and use bugger all power.
3 year off grid camping veteran here.
I had a major heart attack two weeks ago so you putting out two video’s sure helped my day. Being stuck at home bites the big one.
You look awfully young to have a heart attack! Hope you get well soon.
@ Thank you. I am just over 50 years old. Run 5 km regularly and eat pretty good. Turns out my body makes to much bad cholesterol and caused a 100% blockage. Bruh, you drove right past my house! That's my Freddies!!
Sandy for the win! I live in town as well
I'm in BORING! lol. But I go to White River to take photos of my 1966 Mustang... in the summer of course! haha
I'm right at the edge of Gresham, go-to Sandy a lot! Fun to see him pass by our side of town lol
So glad the truck is working. Stoked to see it in full use, either hanging out in it, or towing the next project.
So the whistling is the light bar! If you put some foam on every other fin on the back, it'll get rid of the whistling for you.
I just realized I've been following your channel for over 6 years. I love how far you've come and how epic the builds have gotten.
Driving in the snow could not be more beautiful than ever! My 1st time driving in snow was early this year in Yosemite and was excited but nervous at the same time! Wish California weather was like Portland every winter! W for the truck 💪
Now I own a cheap hotel, got a decent chuckle out of me
The ring girl news story😂
I saw that too was laughing my @$$ off 😂
First vid of yours I’ve watched. Not sure I will continue. It was interesting, but that music was so grating on my ears. Had a seemingly five second loop time on that one riff, over and over and over and over again.

Probably my favourite build of this channel! Need more adventures in it
I’ve built my own campers in the past and yes the diesel night heater easy to fit and very good for heating
White River snow park???
I’m an Eagle Scout Class of 1986.

That's some awesome timelapse!
I can't wait to see the inside of your camper once it is complete
"most people have shoulders!" Love it!
You gotta install an espar diesel heater in this unit
Can't express enough how much better air bags make these trucks!
A Little Diesel heater will be a great investment for the Camper build plus a Horn Blaster's Train horn setup for the Camper is a must. Need to let everyone know that you are are arriving
This is awesome to watch as someone who wants an RV and has no experience being in a mobile home
19:44 If you want a 100W heater, just let your PC run all the time :D
true, you also could run a game or furmark (or even better, fold or mine crypto) and tune your settings to how much heat you want to put out.
Just wanted to let you know Chris, Bought that 6000W Anker Solix and it's little brother along with two of the portable solar panels last time you had them for a sponsor.
Also bought their 347 Power Bank (40W) for phones etc. Great products. Really happy with them!
I just LOVE this truck!! Great job on this build and can’t wait to see it finished.
You did a hell of a job with the outside but the inside needs quite a bit of work for comfort and other people I can't wait to watch it
3 videos in 2 days. Not complaining at all let's go Chris
Good call on getting a diesel heater. I've got one in my trailer, and it is incredibly efficient for such a small space.
White River. Daughter and I sleep there every Friday night in a van to ski Meadows for the weekend!
I heard the beginning of the anker solix pitch and was like oh no. I saw that smile chris he knew he was going to get some folks with that😂
2 in 1 day!!!! Lets gooo

What an amazing experience been out there on your own, wasn't it? Enjoying solitude is something that not everybody can comprehend.
You need spike tires for the winter 😂
Not for the snow, but the ice
2 videos in one day?
Anybody else think he was trying to set an auto upload or upload private for later date(next week?….later this week?…etc)
But accidentally posted NOW so he just left it, said “o well” and left it anyway?
Whatever the reason
I like it.
Thanks Chris, and even tho they’re not in the video, anybody else involved(Kyle etc)
Love your builds, please finish this one and the boat.
Black out the rims for sure. It's a must right next to diesel heater and insulation
2 episodes in one day!! Hell yeah! Loving the truck build
Visited Mt Hood last year from Austin. Such a beautiful place. Congrats on the maiden voyage!
There is a built in heater in star link dish. The option to turn in on is in the app settings on your phone. Unless they removed this feature.

Look at Webasto heaters, that should do the trick instead of the power hungry electric heater. Good job Chris
Amazing scenery, makes the camper truck build so worth it. Enjoy it. And F1 was really cool too, was a great race in Vegas.
I love that snow park you stayed at
It would help to separate the rear area from the front with a thick curtain. This would reduce the workload on the trucks heater/AC while driving, decrease the space that needs to be heated at night, and make driving much quieter.

This is probably my favorite build
ive been WAITING FOR THIS SERIES TO COME BACK FOR SOOO LONGGG
2:24 just got home driving in the crazy fog to watch this video. Super stoked to see how the trip went.
The diabetes comment hooked me😂 new sub 👍
I love the addition of sound effects lol
A magnet would be a cool way to hold the fuel door provided it is steel. Simple round magnet attached to the body.
I would just use a magnet for the fuel door... 😁 2 vids today👍
From a truck driver coming to you get a diesel heater man those things work better than that contraption you have there
I'm in SF Bay. This damn storm is wreaking havoc on my job. Rain=no work. 🤬🤬🤬 Love the camper build
We use one of those small under desk heaters in our trailer, it's quieter than the gas furnace and provides plenty of heat
Cool video! The camper is truly coming through. Good work. God bless
i love this channel even more with the Summit1G shoutout !
Big lesson to not overwork yourself and your main contributor in completing projects even if you pay well.
Shout out to Oscar for working like a machine for as long as he did.
I’m about ready to hit the road in my homemade camper, heading over the mountain pass to Western Oregon. Be safe!
1:38 2023??!!!! When was this filmed? The bomb cyclone just happened last week. Did you forget what year it was?
Back to back! Hell yea!
Outstanding and awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
You could attach dish to the roof on a rotating bracket and put in a handle inside to rotate it and/or change the angle to get better coverage. Also good for shaking off the snow.
Really enjoyed the more relaxed video. The Sema build videos give me anxiety haha
Dodge offered an ambulance package and a snow plow package for these trucks that got the buyer another alternator and a few other things that I can't remember. Maybe you could find a setup in a junkyard for that rig of yours. Or you could go another route and get a big alternator they use in car stereo installs.
As a Canadian, what sorcery did you use to get snow before us?
Also, here before the bots.
Its almost December and still no snow here in Fredericton nb
Where the hell in Canada do you live lmao. I'm in Alberta and we've already gotten a ton of snow. Been -10 to -20 the last 2 weeks.😂😂😂😂
We got 59 degrees here in Sweden, something ain't right. New record here.
lol its been snowing in california
Love the content. But bro you shouldve insalted the ceiling before doing the cold stuff lol ,love the video tho cant wait to see more. Also this build is my favorite series
Heated blankets don't draw a lot of power. And they have water proof ones.
Loved this episode!!!
Doesn’t matter what you put in the box.
That’s your rolling office, when out in nature it’s your home. Put what ever you want in the back that will make you and the other guys or who ever comfortable.
