  • Me my brother and sister stopped at Whitley Bay caravan park, my brother has a car so we managed to get out and about the area.
What a fantastic place to spend a few days in the video we have-
Tyne and Wear Metro and Newcastle Rail Station
Newcastle Cathedral and riverside, Seaton Sluice
ST. Mary's Lighthouse, ferry across the Tyne estuary + more.
Must say a great area to pay a visit to cheers Steve

Just watched this video on my TV Steve. I loved the trip on the ferry at North Shields. I use to work at the dry docks just past there as an apprentice when it was a working shipyard. Nice shots from St Mary's Island lighthouse and the nearby coast. Good Metro and train shots too. Great to see these locations as it's a while since I visited some of these places.
A super video and hope you all had a great time in the North East.
    Cheers - Allan. 🙂 👍

Lovely video. We were there from the 17th to the 20th May. We stay at the Travelodge at Cobalt and use the buses and the Metro to get about. There is definitely lots to see and do and even though we've been going for years (we live in Rotherham) we always find somewhere we've never been. The music in the church/cathedral was great.

Thanks Jackie, did you get the £6.80 day ticket (great value) and cross the Tyne on the ferry. Like you say there's lots to see round there I'm not a church person myself but do love the sound of a church organ cheers Steve

@stestepney we did get a day rover but for some reason ours only cost £6.00 - it might be because we weren't as far out as Old Hartley. We've been across the ferry before and in my opinion that's worth the ticket price on it's own :). South Shields is worth a visit if it's not school holidays as then it's quite busy. Tynemouth Metro Station has a flea market at the weekend which is worth a visit. I think you could easily go for a week without seeing the same thing twice! Lastly, we always end up at the Rendezvous cafe on the sea front at Whitley Bay for a knickerbocker glory - even done that on a blustery day in December.
