Would you recommend the French gold Rooster sovereign coin? I like the look of it and I saw a sale on it recently but I usually stick to Troy ounce increments
They're not a bad option, usually trade at low premiums from what I've seen unless there are some of particular numismatic interest amongt LMU collectors
Nice taste 👌🏽 I look around the various online dealers usually. There isn't one that's always best it just depends what is available when you're shopping
Hi Sovereign Saurus (sorry, don't know your name)! I have a new interest in coins/investment etc and your channel videos have inspired me to delve deeper into this. My question today is could you recommend 3 of the best paperback books for me to further educate myself about gold coins since the early Georgian period up to more recent times. Thanks and look forward to your reply. Regards. P
Hello thanks for watching, Spink books have some good options like "Coins of England" Marsh "The Gold Sovereign series" is great for sovereigns specifically. Another I like is Chief Coin Of The World but it is more historical than the period you mention I did a video here... ruclips.net/video/HKJCIn0R9m0/видео.html
@@SovereignSaurus Thank you for the information on books and for pointing me in the right direction. Much appreciated. I believe you have developed the 'GO TO' site for people interested in coins. Best wishes.
great video mate, love the plan mate! I am personally going for 10 pound a week for the 1/4oz! One half sovereign a month and 1g gold bar per month! then I am aiming to collect every 2024 silver 1oz coin for a bit of fun! Good luck with the plan mate
Thanks for sharing as always Your views and insights are very much appreciated Interested in your on the Queens Beasts 1/4 oz collection I’m going for the proofs as I think they are undervalued currently compared to bullion 1 oz proofs being a tad costly for me
The Queens beast set I think is fantastic overall. My only thing against collecting sets like that there are usually a few coins that carry the set and a few that are just ok. Like you say though it could be an opportunity to buy the proofs whilst they're not getting bid up as much
great gold coins sovs / TB's, also like the Mexican/ Krugerrand..... lovely backdrop, its always nice to see your silver. Couldn't agree more would not buy new + VAT silver, plus as you said storage becomes a problem. Silver is fun, whatever you fancy or like... You have certainly corned a niche within YT. Keep up the great work, always find your content interesting.
ah ok! Watching your videos have motivated me to start stacking gold South African 2 Rands (pretty much the same as sovereigns) just something low premium and unique. Don't see many people stacking 2 Rands. My goal is to start stacking 1 a month like you did. Thanks for the videos!! Keep them coming it's motivating. @@SovereignSaurus
Hi Sovereign Saurus - really appreciate content on your channel, which has helped me stay focussed on my own stacking objectives. Within reason, 1924 is one of the specific years I am after (dad’s birth year) and am struggling to find any from the standard U.K. dealers. Any chance you could let me know how you tracked this year down and premiums one can expect? Thanks again.
A lot of searching to be honest. They seem to be available for high premiums on eBay but I couldn't bring myself to spend 700 plus that people seem to be asking. I've only seen a few come up in the £400s and I've bought them all. Whether that is a wise purchase time will tell. Recently paid a little more for a graded one which will be on an upcoming video. I've yet to get one come up in best value sovs but maybe one day.
Serious Stacking! Im so annoyed I didnt buy off the Royal Mint the 2023 Robin Hood design silver coins that had QEII head on them (minted before they knew she was going to die with 2023 date). DO you think that coin has collectors potential?
It might carry a small premium on the 2nd hand market but I don't anticipate it will do anything phenomenal. They do come up from time to time. Some coins did get bid up quite a lot following QEII death like the proof gold sovereign of 2022 that also celebrated her platinum jubilee with a special design but a lot of commemorative tat out there also
Crikey SS....recorded in December 2023, I'm already on my fourth Sovereign purchase of 2024 and we aren't even at the end of January!!! As I finally paid my last debt off in November I am in a very fortunate position, other than paying the monthly bills the rest is mine and looking to add at least 15oz of Gold to the collection in 2024, as long as we don't have a major upward trajectory on Spot for the next 7-8 months!! There will be the odd Silver purchase and can't kick the habit of buying those 10oz Drinks Coasters coin. As the current Mrs James keeps saying.....'stop buying those stupid big Silver Coins and grow up'.....some people never learn....aye!!!
Haha brilliant! And congratulations 🍻🙌🏽 Yes I usually record my videos in batches due to logistics. Probably won't see any coins for a month or two but the videos are lined up ready, some still need a bit of trimming and editing. Got some nice sovs and a few other coins coming up
It depends on the type of coin and a few other factors. If you just want bullion though you can often find between 3 and 5% premium in the UK more for numismatic pieces
Dont! No one should buy silver if in uk as an investment its illogical. High premiums, vat , potential cgt , and charts showing it has under perfomed gold since all almost all timeframes since the end of gold standard. That s not mentioning it hard to store as it bulky. If you want silver as a collection thats a different story. Silver is likely to out perform gold for a short time after the economy improves ( as it IS an industrial metal not just treated as one) but that will be am anomaly in futures charts not the norm
Completely agree there fella, but I do love the QB's Silver and a sucker for those 10oz Coins from various mints, so a bit of a guilty and senseless indulgence. At least Gold is my go to purchase to save my Silver silliness!!! 😃
Great video, thank you 🙆♂️. It will be amazing if you can finish the shield date run🎉. Open up a museum, and I’ll pay to see it🤣.
Hahaha I'm not sure what could be done on that front but it would be nice to see it complete

Good video thanks. Single and double sovs here.. Do you look at RM for the beasts etc. or look at the secondary market?

How much do you buy per month or whole year
It varies to be honest some months might be a few sovereigns other months might be a few Oz

Beautiful collection sir, good luck with your 2024 stacking goals 🍀
Thanks Gator and you 🦖
Great video! when did you start to focus solely on stacking sovereigns?
I still buy 1 oz and other coins too but sovs are probably the best option as it stands in UK.

Imagine the history of that coin, it’s had so many experiences including being dropped by Sovereign Saurus
🤣

Beautiful gold ✨️
It sure is
Any Silver that has a Dinosaur 🦕 on it is very cool 😎
I dig that 100 oz bar just sitting there.
Cheers 🍾 🍾 and Happy New Year, SS.
🦖 Happy New Year mate
I recently got a silver 1oz Canadan for 25 pounds not as expensive as other bullion dealers
Cool. Still a well recognised coin the maples

Great dinosaur pieces! Have ya heard they’re gonna make a new Jurassic Park movie?
Yes, on the quiet I made it through the auditions for a leading role 🦖

10 pounds of gold a week? Good god! =D
Haha £10 fiat pounds for a little bonus to myself later in 2024
Where do you but it
Answered your other comment 👍🏼
Hatton gardens do free postage bro
Yes true though it is 'baked' into the price somewhere
Like 85, Brilliant video 🎉
