I don't own any rights for the song or any part of it.
"Do You Love Me" is an original song by Kiss from their "Destroyer" 1976 album. Nirvana covered it for the "Hard To Believe: A Kiss Covers Compilation" released in 1990.
Nirvana recorded "Do You Love Me" in spring 1989 at Evergreen College audio studio in Olympia. It was the only studio session with Jason Everman. The recording was produced by Greg Babior, a student who needed to do some tracks for a class project. Nirvana, in turn, were happy to have some free time in a professional studio. Also, Babior played in the band Lush and shared the bill with Nirvana often; later he will be one of the founders of Earth, the great drone band, not the planet.
Nirvana was drunk on red wine and had listened to the original "Do You Love Me" on their way to the studio in the van. Nirvana didn' put too much thought or effort into the cover. "We just went in and had fun", recalls Krist. The improv rants at the end of the song are recorded into different channels, so if you can turn the balance and hear Kurt or Krist separately. The track originally ended with the sound of the tape slowing down as the machine was shut off. For the release, they replaced it with a quick fade.
"Do You Love Me" is one of the two Nirvana songs recorded in a studio with Jason on guitar. Another one is the version of "Dive" from the same session. Unlike "Do You Love Me", it was released on an official Nirvana release, "With The Lights Out".
    Lyrics:
    You really like my limousine
You like the way the wheels roll
You like my seven inch leather heels
And goin' to all of the shows, but...
    Do you love me?
    Do you love me?
    Really love me?
    Do you love me?
You like the credit cards and private planes
Money can really take you far
You like the hotels and fancy clothes
And the sound of electric guitars, but...
    Do you love me?
    Do you love me?
    Really love me?
    Do you love me?
You really like rock 'n' roll
All of the fame and the masquerade
You like the concerts and studios
And all the money honey that I make, yeah...
    Do you love me?
    Do you love me?
    Really love me?
    Do you love me?
Your backstage pass and black sunglasses
Make you look just like a queen
Even the fans they know your face
From all of the magazines, yeah, yeah, yeah
    Yeah...
    Do you love me?
    Do you love me?
    Really love me?
    Do you love me?
    Cause I wanna know
    Do you love me?
    Yes I wanna know
    Do you love me?
Cause I'm just really tryin' to tell ya (Do you love me)
That what I'm tryin' to say is what I'm tryin' to tell ya (Do you love me)
What I'm tryin' to tell ya is that I don't know (Do you love me)
Because I don't know what I'm tryin' to say (Do you love me)
What I'm tryin' to say is that I don't know what I'm tryin' to tell ya (Do you love me)
I don't know what I'm tryin' to tell ya (Do you love me)
What I'm tryin' to know, what I'm tryin' to tell ya (Do you love me)
Woo baby, woo baby, woo you're lookin' fine tonight (Do you love me)
I'm for love, woohoo (Do you love me)
C'mon up to my pad baby, woohoo, yeah (Do you love me)
Wait, where ya goin' honey, I'm not ugly
No where ya goin' I'm not ugly
I'm not ugly, afro love (I'm for love?)
Fuckin' turn it off, just turn it off
