Cool POV, challenging conditions, Jan. Commentary and captions, a plus. Optimal focal length for street, IMO, is one that closely matches your eye’s primary “field of attention”. Does that make sense? In many of the shots, your main subject appeared too distant when using this lens. Perhaps an 85mm field of view would have been a better match. Exception is the guy with the hose - you were close in and the 28mm helped you capture a story-telling frame👍. For the guy in yellow who emerged from the gate next to the yellow walls (5:10 min) I thought for sure you would keep the color, just to show the matching yellow. B&W lacked that special sauce. Favs include the 2 guys in suits/selfie, and the tourists with maps. BTW, did you go inside the Leica store? Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback, Getting closer is definitely something I have to work on. I really like the wider field of view, so my goal is to get some close wide shots, because I enjoy the look of it. I wasn’t sure about the man coming out of the yellow door, but decided to go for the BW one, because the other seemed a like to distracting and I don’t think a construction worker with a yellow west is that special. The Leica Store wasn’t open when I shot the picture, so I couldn’t take a look inside.
About 80% of the time, I adjust the camera manual and keep an eye on the highlights, so that I don't overexpose them. When I shoot on auto, I use highlight weighted, because the Leica isn't that good at recovering them.
Thanks for sharing. Nice photos! I don’t agree with the comments about necessarily being closer. I think a lot of your photos are about the places and architectural settings which is fitting for the focal length
Thanks for the feedback. I think it depends on the style. Some pictures are meant to be closer, while others, especially when the building / shapes are the main point of attention, I like the wider approach.
Nice blend of POV, commentary and exploring 🙂 dont be too hard on yourself, I personally think there were more better shots than you thought at the time 💪👍 I shoot with the Q2 as well, trying to tell myself to only go out with that, as its all I should really need haha
Thank you. I was definitely surprised at home, that there were pictures that turned out better than expected :D For me, especially in the beginning of my Leica experience, it was quite hard to only have the 28, especially if you aren't used to the focal length. But it will get easier over time✌🏻
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll try it. I think the shot could’ve been better if I had taken a picture of her on the left side of the composition and not just the middle and right.
Both are fine, I mean the Leica has a fixed 28, so I'm stuck with that and started to get used to it, but the focus of the video is more on using a wide angle lens in general, instead of a medium or tele lens.
What’s your favorite focal length?
Can’t go wrong with Leica q2 man. I love it.
Love your video style and photos are outstanding!
Thank you😊

"turn away to be unsuspicious"
great job 👍👍👍👍
Thank you✌🏻
Great video. What metering did you have the camera on?

@@janwinter.mp4 thanks for the reply.

That shot you dismiss by saying 'Unfortunately, she walks in the shadow' is good. Turn up the contrast on it!

I don’t know why but it bugs me when people use the LED instead of the viewfinder.
the curious case of why 28 and not 24mm?

28mm is good enough
Your video convinced me, never to use a 28 mm for street photography. I'll stick to my 50 mm. Keep on rolling!
Having the most experience with my 50mm on the Sony, I totally understand your point.
With 28 you need to be much closer to the subject. Your pics where the subject filled the frame were more interesting
Thanks. I’m definitely working on my confidence to get closer to the people✌🏻
