Y8 can't possibly be set that far ahead of Y7, and unless Kiryu has been dyeing his hair this whole time, it'd be weird for them to decide he's legitimately greyed with a boyband fringe. It has to be some dorky undercover hairstyle, tormenting him the same way Ichiban got a scuffed punch-perm but has ultimately decided to keep it.

I’m kind of disappointed that they are bring back Kiryu. Let Ichiban stand on his own 2 feet. Yakuza 7 was amazing, ichi carried that shit
Exactly my thought, they made a perfect job at making Ichiban the new face of Yakuza.
Yeah, it's pretty awkward. Might have something to do with the original creator departing, right? Chances are Sega has whipped the team by saying "no, now we don't have enough confidence to let you remove Kiryu from the series, put him back". Just like how publishers didn't let Gohan take over from Goku, or how Konami never let Pyramid Head leave the Silent Hill franchise despite being based on a single character's guilt, etc.
Ichiban's success with the fans was lightning in a bottle and they're not letting them run with it. Shame.

Unfortunatly i cant agree, kiryu was the face of yakuza, i couldnt get into like a dragon because of the turn based mechanics of thr combat but im glad to see kiryu return for 3 games hopefully they will be like classic yakuza
I am happy to have both! I’m really looking forward to seeing how they interact with eachother. Ichiban was one of the most lovable Yakuza characters and Kiryu has always been honorable. ✨
But if I really need to be analytical here: taking Toshihiro Nagoshi's departure from Sega into FULL consideration, I should not get _too_ excited about Kazuma Kiryu's redesign and unexpected return in the 8th installment. Like what my first impressions were with Yakuza 7 being fully doubtful on it being a proper Yakuza game due to its out-of-place Persona-styled RPG elements featured in an otherwise organised crime videogame until the Saints Lolcows reboot got released, I am gravely concerned about how the game would turn out to be, given the declining age of the yakuza community across Japan and rise of the _hangure_ criminal culture thanks to the Japanese government's mixed up anti-crime laws.
