Hello there Ann~
I guess you already know maybe, but I saw something that really surprised me yesterday..
Yesterday, I was watching The Emoji Movie..there's a part where the emojis travel into RUclips App...One of your videos is featured there...which is "Magic Chocolate Lava Cake"...
I don't know why, but I feel kinda amazed that the team production of "The Emoji Movie" acknowledged your videos...
As always, I'm a huge fan of yours and always watch your video almost everyday...have a good day!
Hi +IamNami yes that was pretty cool. Sony approached me about including the Melting Lava cake as an example of RUclips cooking! I thought it was pretty amazing that one of my videos would be in a movie so we said yes :) I haven't seen the Emoji movie yet but i'll be watching out for it 😊
ImaNami I saw that too!! But just about to comment that but u already did it
ImaNami wooooowww I didn't know that 😂
That is so awesome!!!

The myth thing (whispers "so don't waste my time") is so creepy but so funny at the same time 😂

Look at how many likes... is that creepy?
I WAS WATCHING THIS AT NIGHT IN THE DARK AND I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS WISPERING TO ME AND WHEN I SAY I DIED-
yeah it scared me
I tought the whisper for "the myth" was someone in my room and i get scared lmao

Sometimes I forget that there are disposable piping bags. My mom has reusable ones. She’s got a big tool box of frosting tips and other decorating tools. I may have grown up a bit spoiled!
Professionals or bakers who work in the industry usually use reusable piping bags
Yeah they’re super expensive (the disposable ones) for what you get so if you’re a professional save some money and the environment and get some reusable ones.
Georgia Hildenbrand Only if you buy a few at a time in regular stores, if you buy them in large quantities wholesale or online they’ll typically cost less than 10 cents per bag
That was such a sad thing to find out, I thought that only reusable ones existed.
my mother has a reusable one aswell and as far as i can remember she never had to replace it, which in my opinion is pretty rare for any kind of kitchenware
Lots of you are asking for a part 3. What hacks would you like me to test next? 😀
How To Cook That Done! I turned on your post notifications!
is there a difference when you use butter/margarine or oil in your cake?
will each one effect it differently?
How To Cook That could you do the last hack for 2 toned buttercream? Like, you'd usually put a scoop of one colour on one side and another on the other. Would it still work?
How To Cook That I wake up early for this but it's worth it also who is the post notification shout out
I have 2:
1: if you store apple slices and cookies in the same container, it will keep the cookies moist.
2: you can use jello as a substitute for food coloring when coloring frosting
I am a bit suspicious about these hacks so I hope you test them. Thanks!
For those who like to add fruits to their frosting, I recommend getting/making the fruit freeze-dried and then use a food processor to make a powder. By doing that, you get all the flavor/color of the fruit without the extra moisture from water!
Lovely idea!
Hit or myth, i guess they never myth huh
I love you,,,SO iconic
You got a legend, I bet it doesn't amaze you
Just about to comment that before i saw this
More like *hit or myth,i guess their never myths ?huh?*

That is surprising most of these worked. It was neat to watch the buttercream peel off the cake
Valerie Kessler yeah imagine that for a zombie cake like Ann said. You could put a layer of red gory looking butter cream underneath, then use the hairdryer one the second layer is on so it reveals the gross gory inside
Probably the hairdryer was suposed to be used on a fondant layer?
Raditya Aryajaya o don’t know if you listened but it was supposed to be on the icing layer so it goes shiny LIKE fondant. It kind of defeats the purpose of the hack if you use fondant.
@@a-dogg2461 nah i meant it could probably work if its fondant layer, as in i think the myth creator probably mistook fondant for buttercream on a cake. Sorry if what i'm saying does not make sense
I wonder if it would work with the pre-made frosting in cans.
A million years ago, I worked in a place where I did a lot of piping and we used the frosting bullet technique here. It wasn't to save money on bags, because we used heavy-duty reusable cloth piping bags, not disposables. The reason we did it was mostly to keep everything neat and clean and orderly (particularly since we were minimum wage workers, not pastry chefs). We made all our bullets in the morning and only had to clean the piping bags at the end of the day and switching colors was no big deal. Any bullets we didn't use were fine to use the next day since the frosting didn't dry out. It was such a handy trick, I still do it now if I need to pipe a lot of frosting.
I have reusable piping bags so at 4:58 I was really confused like “isn’t it reusable though?” Lmao
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Ann's editing skills like wow
If your Merengue buttercream splits, take some of it out and in a bowl heat it in the microwave till it melts and then add it back into the rest and rewhip it, it'll come back together!
This method aktually works on all kinds of buttercream😉
I can't Count the times this little trick saved me
"Don't waste my time" on the myths... I don't know why, but it makes me giggle every time!
For the piping bag one, why the hell wouldn't you buy a reusable piping bag and save all that waste!? Particularly if it's just to reuse the plastic disposalable ones instead of for multiple colours?
its so you don't waste extra icing cleaning it out of the piping bag. all you have to do is pull the plastic wrap bag out and save the rest of the icing
Fighting Faerie or you could squeeze it out into Tupperware....
Yeah! My mom has reusable piping bags, and those bad boys have lasted for like 10 years.
Thank you, Jenny T, I was looking for this comment. I have bought two reusable piping bags and got three from my grandmother; I'm using them for 20 years + and they are still good.
@@fightingfaerie There are other ways to store extra icing (like in a jar or any other container). It's quite a bit of plastic waste you're producing, especially when you bake often. Plastic wrap may be convenient, but it's really not necessary, especially when you throw away the piping bag, too.
I discovered Ann through her debunking vids. It's strange yet pleasant to see her trying out baking tips that actually work
The piping bags are plastic can't you just wash them and let them air-dry
Phoenix._. love
I’m not a professional or whatsoever, but reusing a piping bag would be really unhygienic, especially if you use buttercream. After washing the plastic bag, the frosting will definitely leave an oily residue, the smell of dishwashing liquid will definitely be in that grease. So it’s a no no.
@@binnbunn We have a reusable piping bag at home (my dad was a confectioner), I didn't even now they're one-use only 😅
Glitteresa as I said, I’m not a professional or whatsoever, what I said is clearly not 100% true. Just stating my opinion.
@@binnbunn chill, I was just saying 😅
@@binnbunn there are reusable piping bags
Not overstirring isn't even a hack it's just not reading the instructions or recipe...
@That One
Puts up ✋ shyly. I always thought that more mixing = more aeration. 🤦
Alma Ducky : It is true for merengue and some other stuff, but not with flour.
@@A_Ducky It’s true for box cake. Using a mixer helps. But with cakes made from scratch don’t overmix.
@@A_Ducky I think the problem is the gluten you are developing when you overmix, but I am not sure...
@@SKyrim190
Oh thanks! Just saw these comments (YT chooses when to notify randomly I guess).
Great video, please more of these hack-testing ones! :)
Hi Ann, I have a question. My 9-year-old nephew loves to bake (he only started recently, but at this rate he'll be replicating your complicated recipes in a couple of years!) and the whole family is supportive and encouraging, but the kids in school tease him because they say baking is "girly". We tried explaining that there's nothing wrong with a boy/man cooking or baking and that he should do it if he enjoys it, but do you have any other advice or ideas? We just don't want him to be ashamed or get discouraged :(
Hi Eva, When you look at top pastry chefs a lot of them are men. He might like a magazine called savour where he can read different chefs interviews. Kids who are mean will always find something to tease other kids about. I'd teach him how to respond with a witty come back and stand his ground.
Great idea, thank you! I really love your videos and your kind approach to us viewers.
Eva Lore The biggest chefs in the world are men so why worry? 😊
Eva Lore show him the man about cake channel. Joshua John Russell is incredible!!!
I'm 14 and I regularly bake the teasers are assholes
I'm a pastry chef and I try and only lightly mix cake batter too and was taught this in college. I do know the science behind this, kinda complicated to explain tho, I'll try and simplify.
Okay. When making bread you knead it, usually at least 7 mins or so. This is because flour contains a protein called gluten. Kneading dough stretches strands of gluten making them more elastic. More elasticity makes the dough able to stretch to contain small bubbles of CO2 which is produced by the yeast. These bubbles of gas are what causes bread to rise. Without kneading and elasticity, the bubbles will pop and the dough will be dense. If you overmix cake batter once flour is in, you are beginning to develop the gluten resulting in a chewy cake. You want a cake not a bread.
that's so cool! thank you for explaining it
@Johnny Eyeball i didn't learn that in college, maybe it's different in your country? I don't know where you're from, but I didn't know and i'm thankful that they explained it. Good for you for knowing it I guess?
Laura 28 so if you were to make a gluten free cake using coconut flour, would you want to mix it a lot or just kneed it?
@Johnny Eyeball of course it's not complicated to me and to you. But it's NOT common knowledge just because you learned it. Nor is it something that can be explained in one sentance or two.
@SeriousName ha, don't think it would taste like bread, just have a similar texture.
Hit or Myth
Let's see which one's a myth huh
Faked a life hack and now I gotta diss ya
"...so don't waste my time..."
Shady in Oz, ain't it?🤣
The plastic method for icing (my work called them 'bullets') works better with plastic bags, for cloth icing bags, when speed/efficiency is a factor. The point was never to keep the bag clean(it did help) but to allow fast refills
*whispers* so don't waste my time 😂
Love these videos! They're really creative
Another amazing and helpful video!! Loved it so much. Your the best. :) ❤️💛💚💙💜
I always wondered why my icing looked weird when I added fresh crushed strawberries.... I always thought I just wrecked it but used it anyways. I'll definitely remember that one ^_^

“Don’t overmix your cake batter” isn’t a hack, it’s just how you make cakes

I love how you demonstrated how over mixing changes texture, i'd love to see more 'cooking science' vids like that.
p.s i will use that lemon trick! i often add a splash of lemon to soups and sauces to lift/freshen them (taste wise) before serving.

Ann your amazing like where do you get all this talent from. GREAT JOB! ❤❤❤❤ By the way I I'm one of the #NotificatioSquad people.
y'all know you can wash and reuse plastic, right?
raqFarha yes but you are not supposed to because the chemicals leech into the food or water etc
Katelyn what chemicals? It’s a foodsafe bag already ...
Iris Waldenburger plastic bags include some toxic things, so the ocean is getting toxic and polluted. not only the sea animals are eating it, but it also kills them quick with the toxins and the bag itself.
@@iriswaldenburger2315 plastic softeners are a large group of chemicals that have to be used to get the desired plastic softness appropriate for the use. Food safe is just that the amounts that leech out of the plastic into your food are within a government decided safety limit. The trouble is that these chemicals are most likely accumulatiing inside your body over your life and the effects, long-term or otherwise of this are barely researched. Although BPA acts as a female sex hormone.
So reducing contact with plastics is generally a good idea.
The last one is just a waste of plastic, just use a reusable piping bag from the start! You can wash it and use it as many times as you want and no plastic wasted!
That technique is usually used for having several colours at once
yea idk thats normal not why its used
@@BootlegAdult You can use reusable for that as well ;) Even better because you will not waste plastic if you need to pipe a lot of different colours!
Sophie no like they mean for like piping a rainbow swirl, where the plastic helps to keep the lines straight and even rather than struggling to fit the colors into the bag correctly
@@synthskeptic Yes i know what they mean^^ im saying that its a waste of plastic. What do you not get about this?
The last hack using the saran wrap was my favorite because I always make a huge mess when I put frosting in the piping bag! I would just love to have my frosting go in less messy. Am going to try. Also thank you for the great video.
Awesome!! I will use a lot of these hacks!! Love you're videos!
Amazing video! Keep up the good work :)

Amazing ideas! Place the icing in the plastic wrap is my favourite to save money :D
How Tasty not only to save money .... it’s also the easiest way to get two or three different coloured butter creams into your piping bag for multicolour piping !
I love this channel😊😊 its just so relaxing.THANKYOU FOR POSTING
Happy friday Ann ! much love and thanks for posting amazing content every week
Awww you're so sweet Shira 😀
I love the bit where you whisper:"So don't waste my time"
About the last one, you can just was and reuse the piping bags, it's less waste than either throwing them out or using plastic wrap. If you're worried about the chemicals in the cheap plastic you can also get nice reusable pipping bags in a thicker plastic or silicone.
Aaaahhhh!!!! I am going crazy because of you ann. You're so good at baking cakes and eyerything!!! 😁😁😁😁
"So don't waste my time" always gets me! The split buttercream one is a lifesaver I wish I knew earlier.
I've heard that using a diffuser on the hair dryer helps prevent splitting and melting. Also, you can get a smooth shine using a warmed spreader. The trick being getting the magic level of warmth. The tiniest bit off, and it doesn't work at all. I've accidentally accomplished this, with no success at repeating the results.
You just need more practise 😉
also, it's a lot easier, if you warm up the spreader with hot water (but you need to wipe it dry, bevore using it)
Amazing food, beautiful baking delicious, thanks for the ideas
Thanks Queen Sophie

I love that most of these really work! It gives the whole video a really positive vibe. When there's too many fake hacks in a row it feels kinda negative and like sad, ya know?
Just a little hack of my own; if you overwhip your cream and it starts to split, fold or mix in some more cream and it will bring it all together. :)
P.S. Great video as always, you never fail to brighten my day!
Hi Catlover, I do that too 💕 great minds think alike
:)
catlover12670 you can take it a step further: when you need a whole lot of whipped cream, but did not whip enough, or saved some for later and need a bit more, just pour some unwhipped cream in the same bowl and whip away - the old one doesn't overwhip!
catlover12670 what does P.S. mean

Ann: hi now for the first hack, skewer a lemon
My teacher taught me the saran wrap trick when I first tried frosting, since I made a mess all the time, wasted a lot of frosting and found it hard to control the piping bag. Helped a lot
