The character design (not Bendis fault ) takes the character into caricature country. He does look like something Jim Lee designed. Who doesn't have a designer eye.

This is why we need creator interviews. The Bendis in your head is probably nothing like the Bendis that's here. He's charming and knows how to have a good time, even if it's at his own expense. His personality and his life events really gives context for his writing and choices. I'm having a good time. I do, however, find myself saying "No no no no, please no. the more i learn about bendis, the more i like him. he's so wholesome and insightful and in his own words a glass half full kind of guy, and you know it genuine because it comes from a genuine place, but i dont think i can ever forgive him for what he's done to jon kent, no matter how much he justifies his love and appreciation for characters and story, he just doesn't get why people reject his work on jon because jon is so wholly different from everything else he's gotten push back from

Personally I would really love for bendis to deage my boy Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy back to his little 10 year old self why mostly because well there’s was still so much potential for the Superman family being a family and to take that away was really sad and depressing but that’s just my opinion.
From what bendis has said DC would age Jon anyway for 5G. So Bendis argued we could at least save some of his formative years if we send him to the future. I think it was word Ballon.
I'm reading through Bedis' Daredevil run at the moment to help me get through the quarantine. I've always liked his work, especially Ultimate Spider-man, and he really does seem like a genuine guy.
The moment he said Connor Kent I immediately said "well, looks like he's dragged me back in" Guess I gotta catch up on his Young Justice and Supes runs atm
I'm really glad I listened to this. I've only been reading comics for a couple of years, so my first interaction with Bendis was Superman. I really liked where it was going before he jumped on and then he seemingly flipped it all over just because he could and I didn't like the new direction. So I have been pretty turned off of him. But Batman Universe was great so I wanted to give him a chance. I'm happy to see that it doesn't seem like he did anything he did out of malice. He seems like a pleasant man that just wants to make people happy with his stories. Still not a fan of Superman, but I don't hold so much of a grudge now.
