Finally, it works! I did not understand at first that the title was the command, until you changed it from shoot to take a selfie. Taking off the preview made the difference for me. Thank you!
Works great! Very helpful. One fix: Missing step: The 'name-your-command' step is missing from the first procedure list. Required! It's shown at 6:58 in the second procedure, the recap for "Take a Selfie." He says, 'Go to top, pull down the V, select "Rename," and name your command.' Quirk: "Siri 'Click'" (my command) works from the black screen or the basic screen, but not from within "Camera." That's fine.
Hey Phil -- thanks for doing this. I must sat however that your earlier method before ios16.2 still works and snaps shutter faster. It's what I use a lot.
The problem is that “Hey Siri” doesn’t respond over the camera preview. Only the side button can activate Siri. But pushing the side bar isn’t that practical I many selfie taking situations. Any solution?
Thank you! A very well made and explained video. However, I don't understand why all the photos I take using this shortcut are very poorly focussed. Just taking a picture in the usual way produces excellent pictures - the ones taken using the shortcut are fairly blurred. What might I be doing wrong?
@@HelpfulPhil Thanks for getting back to me Phil. The lens is clean and if the shortcut uses a different lens I would not know how to change that! I am grateful to you for your help!
Works perfectly! But your directions have to be followed precisely, and I missed a step the first time LOL. Also, I have an app called "Shoot" so I couldn't use that for the name of the shortcut, so I just called it "Take Photo" instead. It matches "Take a Selfie" so each is pretty obvious if I look at my shortcut names.
Googled it and seems that “Hey Siri” doesn’t work in the “photo” preview mode in Camera but works on SLO Mo or Portrait modes. So using Siri on SLO Mo to take a selfie works!
You can now use the 'Take a Selfie' Siri command. It uses the pre-programmed Shortcut, so either say the command or tap the shortcut.-- new video maybe!
Around 4:16 in the video your shortcut icon at the top of the screen says “shoot”, but I don’t see how to make it say that. My phone will not take the photo because when I follow your steps and hit “done”, the shortcut produced calls itself “Save to photo album”.

Yes, the original way is much more responsive! Thanks for the comment.
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. Do you also have advise on how to command Siri to take video. Tried it but it didnt worked
So does on Time Lapse mode, more practically.

Will your method works with ios17 because Siri becomes unavailable after it opened the camera app.

it might be that the shortcut uses a different les and the lens is not as good as one of the others or not clean.

Phil I followed your directions exactly- I have IOS 16.3 and there is no short cut that says "shoot". How do I add a short cut?
that's all ocvered in the video from 2:23..
Siri doesn’t respond to “Hey siri” when the camera is launched
This is so cool! Worked once, now all I get is error message “an unknown error occurred “😢

the second video of yours that didn't work
When did it fail?
