    Hi. Thanks so much for this. It's really well made and easy to understand. I've been scratching my head about how to wire in the main fuse as per the M-Gadget diagrams from the manufacturer's manual. I could not figure out how to wire in a 30 or 40amp fuse in to the large 10mm battery wire, but I notice in your diagram you don't do that. Instead you put the fuse at the regulator which is a smaller diameter wire and you connect the m-unit directly to the battery. Is this ok to do as I cannot find a neat method to wire a fuse directly to the main +ve from the battery?

    Great video. Thanks for taking the time out to show everyone your project and hard work. It's helped me and I'm sure a lot of other people with one of the most daunting parts of a bike build. My question was about the m button. I saw on a Revival video that someone from their shop didn't have the greatest things to say about it after having seen some real world use. Seemed great for a show bike but possibly not super reliable for something you want to ride often. And troubleshooting any problems, should you have any, might be a P in the A. Thoughts? Thanks again!!!

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad to hear these videos were of some help. The M button has been pretty great for me personally to be honest. You’re talking about the little button that sits in the headlight and sends all the signals back with one single wire? Or are you talking about the m switch handle bar controls? I dislike the m switch a lot. It’s much too small! I have a hard time locating the buttons while I’m operating the vehicle and am constantly looking down to find them. It would be be so bad if I didn’t have gloves on but it is a nuisance to be distracted from something like that. I don’t think it’s safe at all. I’m planning on redoing the bars to a more tracker/bmx style and will purchase larger buttons.

    • @d3one3
      @d3one3 4 года назад

      @@SaturdaysWrench Yeah, I mean the M button. I bought one for simplicity's sake.
      I do also have m switches but I suspect your's are the smaller type buttons. The buttons on my switches are just about the size of a dime. I think they should be ok, even with gloves on.
      Thanks again!

    Brilliant Video. Thanks you so much this has helped me a lot with my 85 BMW R80 CAFE racer project. I just realised I didn't ground my m-unit to the battery but it's still grounded to the frame and works, do I still need to run 2 ground cables from the m-unit to the battery?? thanks again.

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  7 лет назад

      +Sgt Frag I would say yes. You can never be too overly cautious with that. If for some reason your frame ground fails it would be trouble. It's not going to be too much trouble to ground to battery and it may save your system. Its a no brainer in my opinion. Love the R90s!! Always dreamed of doing one.. maybe someday! Best of luck with it! Do you have a build thread online or any documentation on youtube or any forums? If so hit me up w the link. Would love to learn about what it would take. Cheers bud!

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  8 лет назад +1

      +Joseph Delvecchio It's called a double bullet connector. One input with 2 outputs. You can even get triples. Best if crimped with an open barrel crimper and lightly soldered.

I know about hear shrink I also bought the same from revival I was trying to describe the clear plastic connectors on the wireing, but of course doing a poor job at explaining it lol. Also were did you get the loom from. Thnx for the fast reply.

    AMAZING JOB!!!! I have a tons of questions, but let me get through this gradually. Did you use a terminal ground strip or ground block for your ground connections?

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  7 лет назад

      Neither of those things, mostly bc I have no idea what they are. The M-unit has grounding capabilities and as long as you properly ground the m-unit and battery to frame you should be just fine. Or so I was told by a technician who guided me through this process.

  • @arifny78
    @arifny78 8 лет назад

    About to start wiring my motogadget m unit and looking to find out were you got all the wiring connectors and tools. For example the furrels and the rubber fittings to go over the connections?

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  8 лет назад

      +Arje Lofgren I personally got my tools from Revival cycles. You can get them from many places, all will be close in price. The rubber on the ends is called Heat Shrink tubing and you can also find it at a lot of places but again I got mine from Revival Cycles. It comes in a convenient kit with all different sizes. There's double wall and single wall, double wall is thicker slightly and has adhesive that sticks when you apply heat. The ferrules came with the Motogadget wiring kit I bought.. you can find that from various sources but Revival also sells them.

    Do you have to use Motogadget gauges, switches, and other electric components if you use the M-Unit or can you use just the unit on its own with other components if you wanted? I like the idea of the unit simplifying everything, but investing in all their accompanying equipment may be just a bit too pricey for my current build.

    what do you suggest using to connect all the ground wires into 1 or 2 wires so that I don't have several ground connections and will just have them all go into 2 wires one for the front gadgets and one for the back connecting to both ground terminals on the M-unit.

    • @SaturdaysWrench

  • @armoncampos1

    Hey Saturday’s wrench great vids! I got the M-Unit for all its perks I also got the M switches and that’s where my question lies, so on your videos you showed how to shrink wrap and hook all the relays in the wires. But you did not show how to wire the M switches, did you Solder the wires or did you just put them through the hole and tighten the screw? Your input is greatly appreciated and needed hahaha thanks.

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  7 лет назад

      +armando campos hmm I'm not sure I understand your question. When you say M Switch do you mean the control buttons on the handle bars? For connecting the wires to the m unit I crimped on these special connectors ( I can't remember the name of them for the life of me).. it's in one of my videos, then I shrink wrapped over it for a secure connection. It was also recommended to me to solder all bullet connectors and everything. I sadly only crimped and shrink wrapped but if I were to do it again I would also solder.

    • @armoncampos1
      @armoncampos1 7 лет назад

      Saturday Wrench, thats what i meant the control buttons sorry, and thats what i pretty much did to them i crimped the ends and shrieked wrapped them for a secure connection, thanks for replying. Cheers!

    Can you do a tutorial on how to afford motogadget parts?

    • @SaturdaysWrench
      @SaturdaysWrench  6 лет назад +2

      LOL!!!! Yes, actually. But in writing:
      Step 1 - Open a savings account. One that you don't have easy access to and that you have to go through a process to remove money from it like going into the bank and signing a paper in order to move money around. If you have good will power you can ignore this, but still open a savings account
      Step 2 - Have the bank automatically withdraw 10% of your paycheck every time you get paid and transfer it into your savings account. Don't think about this money. Start with 10% then increase it by 5% increments over time, you will slowly adapt your lifestyle to accommodate this change, trust me. I did this until 50% of my paycheck was going into this account.
      Step 3 - watch your money grow! Buy motogadget parts and baller ass cheeses. Enjoy!

      Haven't installed that one yet! But I don't think it'll be that hard. I'm planning on fabricating a small bracket that I can attached to the wheel clasp that holds on the front wheel. Then I'll glue the magnet to one of the wheel bolts and make sure the bracket is holding the pick up in a place where it passes. Thats the plan so far but haven't got there yet!

    Great explanation but i disagree look at all thoughs earths running all over the bike also number of wires directly connecting to the battery....far out weighs original wiring.
