It's better to prepare notes for yourself by reading either 'The Indian Express Explained' or 'The Hindu Text and Context' rather than watching videos from random RUclipsrs. In this video, I can point out several things that were cleverly omitted by Alex. He neither talked about how neutral the collegium-selected Supreme Court Chief Justice is, nor about Article 324(2), which specifies the President's role in appointing Election Commissioners, with the caveat that this appointment is subject to any law passed by Parliament.
I would disagree that, better you look into resources at public domains (govt resources). What influencers do is to give their"fact" with their own perspective. Rhetoric wont help. Ofcourse if you have a left-liberal view it would feel so good hearing views like this and criticize govt. For competitive exams , better look facts by yourself everything is available in public, from CJI appointment through collegium system, and judgements associated with it , ECI as a constitutional body, appointment of commissioners etc... Good luck

what I understood from the video is that narrator want CJI in appointments committee with "VETO POWER" According to me that would be unwarranted cuz .Its a democracy and ultimate power lies with people and therefore it lies with representatives of the people
For someone coming from a collegium system (which they appoint themselves - a ILLUMINATI HIGH TABLE...hahaha) with so much power and who constantly exercise judicial overreach , giving appointments committee veto power will be too much.

While considering the matter of the appointment of election commissioners, our makers of the constitution themselves prescribed that the appointment is subject to any law made by parliament. So there was no law till 2014, but now parliament has made a new law, and it isn't unconstitutional; it has to be obeyed and is valid until there is a new amendment to the law.
2. If the Central government, even if they form a committee that gives equal representation to both opposition and the government, I don't think there will be a consensual appointment as one side will always disagree with the other side, hence it will ultimately lead to a standoff.
3. There is no question of involving the judiciary in matters of the appointment of election commissioners as long as judges are appointed by the collegium system. In my opinion, if they are either elected directly or indirectly by the people of our country, then they can have a say in the appointment of election commissioners, only if parliament allows. (The real job of the court is to make sure that the law is interpreted and applied with justice.)
4. As long as EVMs can't be tampered with or there is a free and fair election process, and independent media, we needn't worry too much about the appointment of election commissioners.
5. On Maharashtra elections, not only does the Central government get enough time for the election campaign, but the opposition does too. That too in a state where the I.N.D.I.A alliance lags behind; they can capitalize on this time period if they want to.

1. Team of opposition party must be enabled in selection of an Election Commissioner, after consulting with subordinate party.
2. Prime representative of opposition party, Prime Minister and Chief Justice of India too must be involved in finalizing the appointment of the Election Commissioner.
(Avoid Cabinet Minister)
We have been lost a Supreme Court Justice in an encounter manner.

The best suggestion is by the supreme court only. A selection by PM , opposition leader and the chief justice.
I hope the government will grow a backbone to take that decision and do justice to the people of India.
