You didn’t wear white to a wedding, you wore a BLACK dress with a TINY amount of white lace to a wedding. Also, what the hell kind of wedding party was being hosted? I want to go to this wedding.
I don't think the friend quite understands it was a black gown with a WHITE LACE OVERLAY not a white gown with a WHITE LACE OVERLAY and the bride and groom didn't have a problem with their niece wearing the dress they had a big problem with the wait staff ruining their niece's dress which is understandable their niece spent a lot of money on that dress and it was ruined because someone was a CLUTZ
@@alinaoliveraidk, I work in a very wealthy area and the first story sounds like something that would happen to one of our customers. They yap while waiting for services to finish so we hear ALOT of stories.
If I had the money to do so, that's the kind of thing I'd like to do for my (imaginary) wedding. Just go all out and spoil the hell out of my guests. Aunt & Uncle sound like they held an amazing event and it was well worth it (crappy waitress aside).
hearing how this couple ran their wedding gives me literal chills - this is the bar i’ve now set for how weddings should be coordinated (even if not to this scale financially), the generosity is astounding 🎉
The fact that it was an intimate wedding too 🥺 everybody who was there was TRULY wanted there no mattered what. They just wanted everybody to be prepared
For me things that don't count are; 1. White Jackets, blazers and coverups 2. White decorations 3. White as backgroundcolour dresses with colour and print, as long as they are not floorlength and mostly colour. Don't look like a bride would and honour the dresscode. When in doubt, ask.
@@SingingSealRiana I guess it kinda depends on the silouette and the background-pattern ratio. If the dress is more florals than white background, or if it has white polka dots or stripes, I guess it doesn't count as "wearing white", but if the dress is basically a white dress with one occasional flower per square meter of fabric, it definitely isn't appropriate.
I've just realized I once wore white to a wedding 😮 It was like 15 years ago. I didn't want to buy anything new so I wore the dress I wore for my prom. The basic color of the dress was white but: - it was knee length, - it had a print: golden stripes all over it and a row of golden beaded fringe at the bottom. I didn't know about the no white rule back then so luckily the dress didn't look bridal at all (the bride wore a standard long wedding gown).
I wore a cream colored pants suit and floppy hat to a wedding related function, not the actual wedding or reception. I got a few looks I didn't understand (I was young and ignorant) but the bride ran up to me with a huge smile on her face, hugged me and told me I looked like a movie star. The bride was wearing a green dress for this outdoor function. For the actual wedding and reception, I wore a blue dress and toned down my hair and makeup because I wasn't used to anyone telling me I looked good or pretty. Years later, I look back on this and realize people thought I was trying to upstage the bride to be. The bride, who remained my friend for years, didn't think this at all. This was in the 70's. Ah, life. I may not have had the best upbringing, but I sure did learn quickly. (But especially appreciated the wonderful people who took the time to help me rather than hurt me into that learning.)
Girl, you sounded like you were fine. As long as the wedding and reception outfits weren't white, you deserved no hate for that outfit. I'm on your side.
What you wore sounded lovely, I’d love to wear something like that 😊 I’m glad your friend said what she did because that’s how I imagined it also! Very movie star like 🤩 I despise people who throw looks rather than just tell me, like your last sentence though…there’s definitely a helpful and not so helpful way to do that
I got married when I was 21, my cousin was a bridesmaid but it was also on the same day as her senior prom! She made it work and did both events. I invited her back after the prom with her friends for the party. Her friend came without not knowing she would be coming to a wedding and her prom dress. It was a white ballgown. She was so uncomfortable at 18 yrs old that she refused to come in. I went outside to talk to her. Let her know she was welcome and how beautiful she looked. I told her no one would care it's the after party. She finally came and enjoyed her senior prom/ wedding crashing. Somethings are out of your control. Even at her age, she knew it was a no for weddings!!! No one really noticed, there was enough drama already.
This couple are the exact opposite of Zillas! Someone might think they were picky with the staff But, they paid for exemplary service, but chose the wrong company! The management or owner should have taken the snobby server off of the schedule until she has had proper training! At first I thought she was clumsy because she knew they didn't want her & trying while worrying is a bad combination! But it was her attitude at the tasting dinner that put the couple off! So they were right about her snobby attitude! With what all she said, makes me wonder if it was on purpose?! I also wonder if she said that crazy crap directly to them? Or was it when you say something kinda under your breath, like mumbling to yourself, but making sure they can hear every word! "Oh, I'm sorry! Did I say that out loud?" Yah, damn Right you Did! She is prejudice against rich people!
This is actually so nice of you and her intentions weren’t malicious and you as the bride comforted and supported her so it’s a win win and a very respectful and peaceful way to handle said situation at the time! (Hoping more people act this way when such occurrences arise)
I was all ready to defend the working class, aka Ms. Clumsy Waitress, when they were talking about her being nervous, then shaking and crying. People's nerves can get the better of them when they are suffering from anxiety, and since we don't know her story, we can't say if she's in a dire financial situation and this job is all that stands between her and homelessness. I said "I was" until that last update with her behavior at the rehearsal dinner. How many of you think she's family (or family friend) of the the caterer? That's the only reason I can think of that she wasn't fired before the wedding! Who thinks they can talk to customers like that? Especially since it sounds like rich aunt/uncle were not being crazy bride/groomzilla, they just wanted an elegant, formal dining event for their big day?
Frankly, her behavior would be over the line even if they were being a little crazy. You don't act condescending and belittling towards the people paying for your services.
I'm shocked that waitress wasn't fired on the spot when she insulted the bride and groom at the dinner tasting. That catering company should have given them a total refund of all services. That's just ridiculous.
She didn't insult the bride and groom though. What was said was that she was "rude and cold" and that's pretty vague. Maybe that means actively insulting them (although I doubt the bride and groom would just quietly ask the manager not to send her if that were the case), maybe they just didn't like the tone of her voice or her general 'vibe'.
While listening to the story about Ms. Clumsy Waitress, I was beginning to envision a single mother, trying to feed her kids, being harrassed by some terrible boss and by even more terrible clients, intimidated to the point that she cries and shakes like a leaf while working. But this story line quickly faded out when I heard what she told the clients while rehearsal dinner...
I officiated a wedding a couple weeks ago, and her colors were wine and gold. Context she is a Swiftie, and so am I, so the only dress in those colors I had was a sparkly gold dress. You’ve made me very cautious about what I wear to weddings, so I took a picture and simply sent it to the bride. I said is this too sparkly? Is this ok? She said it was perfect!! I ended up looking like I came straight out of the Fearless era, and I thank you for preparing me for weddings 😂
21:17 how on earth was a waitress allowed to speak to anyone like this?? I really hope these were comments she made to another waitress and that is also unacceptable
I HIGHLY doubt this part is true. There’s no way ANY professional business owner would allow this. And for a super rich couple who insisted on crystal glassware because they didn’t like the “feel” of the stock ones….theres ZERO way they would let someone talk to them like this and let it slide. Not happening. Idc there is no way this true. If it is, it’s highly…highly…exaggerated.
Story 1: I was ready to call OP the AH at the title but a black dress with white lace isn't a white dress. It's BLACK. And clearly she didn't went looking for a white dress or whatever. And clearly her aunt and uncle were 100% okay with that dress
When I saw the dress my heart fluttered! It was beautiful and very much appropriate. I love black and white clothing and as a nearly 33 year old, goth like attire is still very much a loved trend! 🩶🖤
I went to a wedding and wore this deep blue knee length spaghetti strap dress and a cotton white cover since I don't like wearing spaghetti strap/strapless dresses without some kind of cover or shawl. And someone there tried saying I was wearing white to the wedding and that I needed to take it off. It wasn't even like it reached the length of the dress and could be mistaken as a white dress from the back, it covered my shoulders and buttoned right below my chest, not even reaching my waist. Some people will just look for any excuse to start drama at a wedding, especially if they can look like the saint in the situation.
I hear you there. You probably looked fabulous. I hate how spaghetti straps inevitably flop off my shoulders, so that wrap or shawl was great. Some etiquette experts are the rudest people, being loud about what they think is right when the result is shaming others. It's funny how a happy occasion like a wedding will bring out the b!tchy remarks from usually women who claim that they mean well.
It's weird because it seemed to me that originally white was often used for funerals in the past and for that reason wedding dresses weren't white in colour but nowadays guests aren't allowed to wear black because it's for funerals and yet still not allowed white dress.
In the dark ages of the 70's-80's we had Home Economics in middle school and we were taught how to handle a table setting for all different functions and in what order to use the silverware and the difference between silverware and flatware. My teacher also taught us the 'right' way to introduce people to each other, and how to work the seating arrangements around the table. We would have been ready to meet the Queen Mother. I still remember most of it. It was a public school, not a fancy private one. I wish these classes were still around. Not only were they fun, but helpful.
Considering how little most kids are taught at home now, they really need to bring those classes back. Everyone should know the basics of cooking and sewing.
Aunt and uncle had my dream wedding. Like, don't bother buying gifts; everything on us, just come and look your best ! Real treasures ! 😍Wishing them the best !
Yeah.... I'm a server as my day job. Sometimes I have cat-like reflexes, but I do have some really bad days where I've lost entire trays. Not on purpose or through carelessness, my body just doesn't quite do what I ask it to. But that's why I can never do fine dining or event catering. My coordination just isn't consistent enough. Instead, I work at a place where dropping dishes has a 25% chance of prompting guests to shout, "OPPA!" It's not ideal to drop plates, but it's not a huge deal. Ps the comment "why didn't she try to catch it?" Because trying to catch what your dropped mid-air almost ALWAYS makes the situation 10x worse. Just let it hit the ground instead of potentially smacking it into someone's face and showering them with wine and broken glass.
I went to a wedding in July and there was a "moment" during the ceremony. An entire table of full sparkling wine glasses was knocked over by a caterer. (Poor girl) The photographer had the incredible luck of capturing the exact moment and it's everyone's favourite image from the day. I guess it takes a different perspective. And yes, we all yelled "Opa!!" 😊🎉
So, it`s pretty clear that the waitress should not be waitressing, and most importantly, that the manager should not be managing. She should have been fired, too, for keeping putting that girl back to work.
My best guess is she only got a job as a catering waitress because the manager or the owner is a relative of hers and gave her job cuz she's not good at anything else 😅
@@elizabethshuster218 I second that. She sounds untrained and has a holier than thou attitude towards clientelle for whatever reason(no excuse ib this case). The manager should've done better, thankfully the event wasn't completely ruined.
One single nasty, unprofessional remark from that waitress and I would have had her escorted from the venue, and yes, I mean the rehearsal. I would also have warned the caterer that if that banned waitress showed up at the event, it would be considered a breach of good faith and would have had the manager escorted out along with the waitress. Come on, that manager and their company behaved in a shamelessly unprofessional manner from rehearsal through the reception.
poverty mindset from that waitress. bitterness, jealousy, and hatred for people who have money is literally programming yourself to never have money. you get what you put out; if you tell the universe "money bad" the universe says "as you wish" and you get no money. it's a weird comparison, but i struggled with learning to swim, didnt swim until i was 9. i learned by being grateful my friend COULD swim; i watched her and appreciated her skill and inwardly celebrated her freedom to glide in the water, instead of being jealous like i had been before. as i celebrated her, i found myself floating and *poof* i could swim from that day on. if we did the same about money and 'success' and celebrate others, we would discover their successes and wealth finds its way into our lives as well.
The aunt and uncle from the wedding seem like amazing people They just want to be surrounded by their family and friends that they love ❤ What a palette cleanser story from the wild ones we usually read lol
@19:40 my Mum taught me this, and we’re not rich or fancy even. It’s just good manners and hospitality in a Polish home. This girl was clearly there by mistake, too rude even for a fast food joint.
I was a server for a short period of time for a casual dining restaurant. I KNEW I couldn’t carry a tray with one arm, and never did so. My only “accident” was slipping on a spill on the floor and slipped and fell with a full pitcher of ice water that flew EVERYWHERE. We offered to pay for any clothing damages, but everyone declined. I didn’t quit because I couldn’t do the job. I quit because I always ended up closing when other servers were allowed to leave as service slowed. Closing included putting up more than 200 chairs, doing all the ketchups, salts/peppers, clean all the tables and mop. If someone walked in a 5 minutes before close, I had to take down ALL of the chairs, take orders and take them to the pissed off kitchen staff. This was always on a Friday/Saturday. We also had a crap ton of booths. I mentioned this to my manager several times but nothing changed. I’d finally had ENOUGH! One Saturday when I was scheduled I didn’t show up to work. The first and last time in my life I ever did that. The manager called me the next day and furious doesn’t even describe her phone call. She said they had been SLAMMED the night before and it was all my fault. She said she was going schedule me for every Friday/Saturday from then on and I would close every night. I told her no that wasn’t to happen because I’d already worked my last shift and to fuck herself. That felt so good. I did have two other jobs at the time, so I was good.
i was stuck on the closing shift at mcdonalds in HS.. i hated it! they would tell me a 'time' that i was to be leaving... i never left at that time given. My mom or dad or cousin would be picking me up and they had to sit in the car for a hr or more just watching me as i did random shit in the building... then watch as i stood there and cried. ALL i wanted to do was go home. it was late and i was tired INSTEAD you'd have to wait for the night manager to be done doing whatever they did in the back with the money before you and the maybe 2 other ppl in the store could leave. I get needing the 'security' when they are back there dealing with that money but forcing a teenager to stay there until 1-2 maybe 3 in the morning cause you're slow af... is INSANE. Needless to say i didnt stay at the job for too long lol.
@@MythicalCrayon I don't know how long ago this was for you, but that's literally illegal. At least in my state. I worked at Barnes & Noble in High School and closed and I had to be out of there by 10:55 pm every night regardless if I was finished. Ultimately if I wasn't finishing my tasks timely, then I wasn't going to keep that job long but they knew the law and weren't willing to cross it. I'm sorry you were put through something like this.
Including a link to a rental clothing store in the invitation is an excellent idea. Not just for people who can't afford to buy formalwear, but for people who are clueless as to what is expected. The bride and groom could have examples of the styles and colours they would like to see. No doubt some people will be sniffy -- "how dare they tell us what to wear??" -- but most will be grateful for the guidelines.
Yes, I agree! Personally I would have NO CLUE on what to wear or would be appropriate. Seeing examples would be extremely helpful if I were to go to a wedding like that. I'm not a girly girl and totally clueless about fashion. My clothes are very basic but I do have some professional clothes for any important work event, which isn't the same thing.
That's true! I can't wear rented clothes because my figure is too far from the standard (I'm super short and have a very large bust, though I'm in a small size range), but it is helpful to see the style. You can always ask the couple, though :)
I was surprised the sweet aunt had to be held back from going "full bridezilla" on the waitress simply for doing things a bit wrong... but now knowing what she said to them, how the heck was she allowed to stay long enough to get in 4 full insults??!
I thought it was a very beautiful dress black with white lace Catering company are at fault for the issue that waitress shouldn't have been there at all id had rather been short staff than have that girl work
Best friend got married at my cottage this summer. And her evil sister-in-law showed up to my cottage to go into one of the glamping tents with a full-on white bridle gown from David's bridle. It even had a train. Thankfully. My little dog is as nosy as hell and was going in and out of the open tents to see. Maybe if anybody had dropped any food in there. And when I went to collector I saw the white dress hanging on the the rack. When confronted about the dress, she proceeded to have a temper tantrum that did over $10,000 worth of damage to my cottage. And another $6,000 worth of damage to vendors equipment. She was told to leave. She didn't and continued to try to vandalize and break more things. I had to call the RCMP. It was nuts. No one in the family has talked to her since except her mother. And even that's pretty limited. And we're going through court to get reimbursed for the damages done to the cottage. My friend and her fiance reimburse vendors for their damaged And are now going after sister-in-law to return the money. So no, when we say you don't wear white to a wedding, we don't mean white accents. We mean a dress that can be a full-on bridle gown.
Oh Please wright that in full detail on the Charlotte Dobree Subreddit! I am here for that drama! Also good job puppy! By the way, I hope you get full reimbursement for all the damage she caused.
If she does not IMMEDIATELY pay in full, take the court judgement and garnish her wages. In California, wage garnishment is good for ten years and can be renewed every ten years until the debt is paid. Don't let it expire or you have to start the civil process over again from the start. I've known employers who will find ways to terminate employees who are "problematic" and they don't want anyone who has debts to the point that the employer has to be involved in the payment plan.
The first one... If she explained the dress to her friend as "white dress to a wedding" like how she titled her post... Then we would have said the same. HOWEVER, once the dress IS deacribed as what it actually was (black with a bit of white lace) that changes things obviously. Bottom line, the bride wasn't bothered by her dress.
@@lotstodo that's what I often think also. Or even just spill more wine so it matches. There's often a way to be creative and save something... I feel like a wine stain is one of the easiest. (But use a cheap red wine don't waste expensive wine 🤭) Or even remove the lace and replace it if you REALLY want it to be the same... But that is more expensive and more effort to be done properly.
I'm so glad you clarified that white summer dress with colourful flowers is OK. I've been worrying for ages if I made a faux pas wearing a white dress with blue and pink flowers for my boyfriends friends wedding and I've been worrying for ages that the bride and all the other friends girlfriends must have hated me for how I was dressed!
A good friend wore a shorter white lace dress to our wedding, but had a beautiful colourful wrap over her shoulders for most of the time since it was a fall wedding. had a small wedding. It was also a small wedding (47 people). She came up to me during the reception and was really apologetic for wearing white, and I both sincerely didn’t notice, and didn’t care. Nobody would ever mistake her for the bride, nor was she the kind of person to try to pull that.
I don't know about that first one because I've always been told that you don't wear black to a wedding because it's considered bad luck and you're telling the couple that you consider their event as bad as a funeral, you don't wear red to a wedding because it signifies that you're sleeping with/have slept with the groom, and you don't wear white because that's just disrespectful and an attempt to upstage the bride.
I get that but also when people say black tie affair usually, unless stated, any color is pretty acceptable. They weren't really bothered with the color it sounds, more the style of the dresses
@ashlynadventures912 as long as the bride is okay with it, it's okay but I personally still would feel weird having been raised not to wear those things for weddings. 😅
@@Suedepants100 Superstition and tradition are pretty closely wound together in alot of cases, and some people (like myself) ARE superstitious and belive in those kinda things like luck and karma.
Yeah, that was entirely on them. If you hire someone who doesn't have the set of skills/knowledge necessary to do their job, you were either neglectful in the hiring process since you didn't notice, or you were neglectful in noticing but offering no training. Either way, that manager was awful.
@@jazzycat8917 It had to be because the fact she has the audacity to talk to guests/clients the way she did says " I don't have to worry about me job"
I was a chef at a fine dining restaurant and the new servers were given a 2 week training course on how to set the table, which side to serve from, memory tests, balance tests and quite a few others. They got paid regular wages until they got hired then got a $2/ hour raise for getting the job. After 6 months another dollar was added to their wages and after 1 year they can get contracted and go to salary but no more tips or stay with their wages and get their tips. This was back in the early 2000's and the servers were making double minimum wage plus tips or double and a half on salary. All chefs were on salary and at the time I was making just under $90000 a year
In my country wearing black to a wedding is considered rude, 'wishing them ill', based on the superstition that black brings bad luck (of course it's only about women and their dressess, we're witches). Nowadays, it's changing, many young people don't believe in old wives' tales. But I think black tie event can be exception. My grandma scolds me everytime I wear all black and ask about funeral or if I come to see her dying :D So I keep in mind my choice of wardrobe for her :D
I wasn't a server but when i did Holiday Dinners for choir back in High School, my classmates and I were instructed to stay behind to help clean up. At times we would snack on what was left. We had real Crystal glasses, only reason why i knew it was real... They make great ringing music. Anyway, i picked up a few and they were quite heavy.
I worked at a venue that held weddings and other events. Most events are set up buffet style (were in the south of the U.S. so formal sit-down service isn't the norm). When we had formal sit-down dining with multiple courses the week before the event, all staff were required to come in a few extra shifts. The pourpose of this was to ensure all staff know the proper etiquette, and are comfortable with their rolls in the service. They practiced carrying trays, practiced setting the table, practice placing the plates and practiced removing the unneeded dishes. This went on for a week. Anyone who wasn't able to handle everything was not on that particular event. This incident could have been prevented, and the manager is 100% at fault. Everything that happened could have been avoided.
15:18 yea i had a flashback 16 years ago my first time working in a restaurant and i emptied an ENTIRE TRAY of 8 drinks onto 1 customer. I was a skinny and weak 14-year old (you can work as a minor with parental consent in my country) 😂 luckily my manager was an amazing lady who dealt with the situation. I was then asked to only serve a maximum 3 drinks at a time even if it was a table with 10+ orders 😂 i did eventually get strong and comfortable enough to carry a full tray of drinks over the years though. But yea it is awfully heavy.
Your 14-year-old's heart was in the right place! You were trying to do your best and your manager saw that. And she probably admired your grit. (YES. Liquids are freakin' heavy. One time, I was carrying 2 cardboard trays, both each with 4 plastic take-out cups that were maybe 16 ounces each. I was waddling. Trying to NOT spill 8 pounds of drinks...) Ms. Clumsy Waitress on the other hand, was giving unwelcome remarks to the customers, as if she were shaming them. She was unkind from the very start.
@@afquan9211 hahahahha i understand what you mean by waddling! It’s honestly an unlocked fear for new servers 😂 yea naw Ms Clumsy Waitress is plain rude. Like you are paid to make things work and just do your job! You arent the wedding planner, a consultant or the manager! And even if she is, the same applies, you are paid to do your job and make things work. If you cant, then leave!
I am reeling so hard from the ending on what clumsy waitress said. I have been in the service industry for almost 20 years and absolutely fine dining is a totally separate beast. I for the life of me cannot imagine what that girl was thinking talking to guests like that. Absolutely the manager was the main problem she should have been fired well before that.
People who are saying the Waitress couldn't have created such a disaster by accident are completely wrong. I worked as a server for weddings for years and did almost the same thing to a young girl in her prom dress when I was about 18. I was mortified, I dont even know how it happened. The room was so full, people kept tripping us over with chairs while we were trying to manoeuvre the very tightly packed room full of table and chairs etc. It was one of my worst days on the job, but id only been working for a few weeks and my job was to serve on the bar, not work the dinner service. The manager would pull us from the bar to help during the dinner service, but that meant I had no practice clearing tables or pouring wine in such a packed environment. My boss was great and made sure the dress was taken care of and I apologised profusely to the poor girl. I was mortified, but I also feel the fact that I had no experience serving like that and it wasn't my actual job means it wasn't entirely my fault. The managers should've thought it through better. Anything to save pennies! I've seen some whopper disasters at weddings after 8 years in the industry, trust me! 😂
I was a part time waitress at a fancy place. I actually really loved to waitress. It was going great, then they found out that I had another job. The owner and the dishwasher decided that I made money from my other job that was also part time. So they refused to give me ANY of my tips. They took every single penny. It was getting to be a busy Christmas, I took lots of shifts, people would ask for me to be their server for their parties. I had a full month of Christmas parties booked. Then I asked if they were going to pay me the tips, they said, of course not. So then I said that I quit. They were so upset, they called me close to a hundred times begging me to work. But I was tired of getting minimum wage and running my butt off. So then they wouldn't give me my last cheque, I had to fight to get paid. Horrible people!
Listen, I'm a server. Would never be able to serve this kind of event without prior special training, I've never worked a black tie event. I solely work restaurant. Charlotte, you are so right about those trays. I'm not a big strong person, I'm on the small side and I'm regularly carrying about 15 full water glasses out on one tray in one hand. Nothing's worse than balancing the tray in one hand while also trying not to brain a guest putting their cup down. I feel really bad for the waitress. She was set up for failure. She never should've been allowed to work that event, period. Listen, if every server got fired because a customer complained about them, there wouldn't be any waitstaff. Sometimes it's fully on the customer or they're blowing something small way out of proportion. So I don't agree that she should've been fired because of the rehearsal, but she shouldn't have ever worked that event. She made a bunch of costly mistakes, I'm not taking the blame off of her, but the only asshole was the manager. She entered the workplace stressed, which caused her to make mistakes, which made her even more stressed, and it snowballed from there. Edit: I hadn't reached the final edit when I made my comment, but I'm leaving the above part because I think some of it still stands. Should've been fired for the rehearsal, but I'm not surprised she wasn't. She was an asshole. I still think the manager was more so.
5:22 thank you Charlotte...I've been sitting here thinking (during multiple wedding videos) "oh no! I wore a white dress to my best friend's wedding! I showed it to him before the wedding and he approved! I was pregnant, and that's what I could fit into, and I couldn't afford *at the time* a fancier dress" for clarification, it was a white dress, with BIG pink flowers and green leaves with a pink shirt thing that went over my shoulders and top area...it looked (to me) more pink than white...so, this makes me feel so much better that white sun dresses/floral dresses are ok to wear, as long as there are patterns on them and the white isn't overwhelming! Lol. It's been a year, and I'm finally able to say *phew* haha 😂
I had the exact same situation, hugely pregnant and the only thing that fit was a cream white suit. But, but, but, the skirt was knee length and looked like something you would wear to the office and was not of a material that would ever be considered as bridal worthy. Bride was fine with it and just wanted to know when I was gonna pop cause she wanted to cuddle that bebe!
@@terramarini6880 awww. I my case, I never met the bride before that day, and saw her getting ready in the bathroom. After the fact, I wondered, omg 😮 I hope that she wasn't upset about it! If she was, I didn't hear anything about it. Lol
Random: Please never pick up or put something down on a server's tray. Let them hand it to you or hand it to them, unless they make eye contact and give you the "go ahead" look. It's harder than it looks. When it looks really easy in movies, it's because things are glued. When it looks easy in real life, it's because they are champs.
Yes! It upsets the balance of the tray! A server has to make tiny adjustments with their palm or support it with their other hand when you place it on the tray!
@@reeeyou I was a great dishwasher, runner, busser, etc., but I was never a good server. I don't know if it was because I wasn't trained (one girl deliberately trained me wrong so she could have my tables and took my tips) or if I just wasn't cut out for it (ADHD coupled with anxiety). I later found that this girl was dating one of the managers and they were messing with everyone's money. I don't smoke, but when I didn't have any customers, I would sit with the smokers and read the newspaper. Aforementioned manager would grab it out of my hands and say they don't pay me to read. While my coworkers sit there smoking. One day, I actually jumped over the railing of the patio while I was in the middle of taking a drink order because I saw a dog I used to walk. Baruch. I loved him. So worth it. When the manager was drunk, he told me that he hired me because of my boobs. I was 21. When they closed the patio for the year, they didn't bother to tell me that I no longer had a job. The only nice manager had to awkwardly tell me when I came in for my nonexistent shift. Adrian, it was not your fault, and that was bullshit.
The mom was right about not wearing Black to a wedding. I know girls these days don’t really follow any of the old rules, but that was definitely a big one.
That black dress with the white flowers was gorgeous. Could be a wedding dress for an alternative person, but if the bride was in all white, Def didn't look like the bride! Edit: that waitress was insane. I don't care for proper table etiquette, but if I ever pay a lot for a fine dining fancy experience it is not unreasonable to expect proper etiquette. That waitress had no business being there if that was her attitude. She deserved to be fired.
If the mom was paying for the dress, it's not unreasonable for her to have a say in what kind of dress the daughter bought. We don't know how the first dress looked like, but I can see how a 100% black gown full of black lace (maybe Gothic style) might give out funeral vibes.
@@Bluefairy_88 Mom has a say since she's paying, but IMO if OP had gotten into drama over her dress then MOM gets a majority of the blame for things going south at the ceremony.
It used to be in bad taste to wear black to a wedding as it is a color for grieving. However times have changed. When I got married in 1988 I wore a pink lace tea length dress. My MOH wore a simple white dress, with my approval. Everyone could tell who the bride was.
My maid of honor wore a off white dress* I helped her pick out*, as well as the girl who sang and my older sister. My wedding dress was off white as well. I never even gave it a second thought.
When I was a baby banquet server I worked a champagne dinner for several hundred Japanese doctors. I carried a tray of 10 champagne flutes to my first table, served the first glass, went to serve the second and instead accidentally spilled the rest of the tray down some poor doctor's back. I was Hella shook. He was so sweet and gracious about it. I wasn't fired, but I was mortified
2:23 wearing a black dress to a wedding is considered rude because it traditionally symbolizes you disapprove of the marriage. But that's mainly for older female relatives of the bride and groom, not as much younger women.
I think it depends on the culture or the country? Because I was amazed at a 2018 wedding where I wore a blue dress, but the two older ladies wore black dresses (one with some red and white floral decoration). Both of them looked very smart.
This is one of the reasons I like to have a deep indigo or navy blue piece in my closet, just in case. It still has the feel of black, but it's not. It also works with gold or silver.
Miss clumsy feels like one of those clumsy main characters in novels were somehow regardless of their incompetence things always work out for them. What is the probability that someone gets stung by a bee so she can come.
What really stands out for me about Ms Clumsy Waitress and her seemingly unlimited free passes from management is that she is a Nepo Baby, probably related to the owner of the catering company or manager. I've worked similar jobs in the UK, and one chap on our team was so consistently rude and clumsy but was never written up or fired because his uncle owned the business. I dropped one glass (he walked into me) and got completely chewed out for it.
Always been beautiful but the last couple of months Charlotte has been glowing. Engagement life is definitely agreeing with you. You're looking gorgeous. 🥰🫶🏾🥔👸🏻
Honestly, after how she acted at the rehearsal, are we 100000% sure it was on purpose? Are we sure the manager wasn't in on it with how much he kept bringing her back? Are they screwing? Do they both hate rich people? WTF! She needed fired immediately and manager at minimum needed to be demoted.
Me wearing white at every funeral I've been in honor of my loss. But I was wearing a fully white dress. OP was wearing a black dress with white details.
I worked for a catering staffing company while in grad school. One guess about why they couldn't get rid of clumsy server is that staff numbers are really important for black tie service. Though surely they could have given her table setting tasks, not send her to the bridal suite! So in black tie service, the entire table is supposed to be served at the same time, with all plates set down in unison. We'd line up in the kitchen area and be given plates for each table in the seating order (one plate in each hand). We then walked to the table indicated by the captain indicating the first chair, walk clockwise so everyone was behind a seat, then set down together, with some places wanting you to set down your two plates at once. Everything is designed around this, like head chef is plating based on this list, another captain checks before servers walk out, and so on. If we were short staffed, one of the captains has to fill in, then there's less people keeping things organized. Otherwise it slows down service. So they probably felt like they needed the staff numbers or it would cause other problems. If you're at a fancy wedding, this service is also a reason to not switch around seating after servers check your meal choice at a table. Or at least be prepared to have to swap plates. Also also NO CELLPHONES ON DINNER PLATES. No anything in the spot where plates go if you can help it. Most times we were a well oiled machine, but when you have a very hot plate in each hand, a cell phone or purse in the way really slows everything down. I enjoyed working events, dinner service was normally the only stressful part of the entire shift.
Also those huge "football" trays, I never carried those fully loaded. Really respect the servers at casual dining places that carry those while dodging clueless people.
During the rehearsal dinner, she couldn't even plate right. She had no business being at the wedding period after her actions at the rehearsal dinner, not plating right being the least of them. In this instance, I find it very hard to believe they served everyone at a long table of 40ish people (20:30) in unison, so that doesn't really make sense but even if that were the case, I fully believe they would have accepted slightly slower service over what happened.
I’m sorry but I call BS on this story 😂 There is no way any employer would allow a staff member to speak to a customer like this let alone be allowed to work the event! This is BS! 😂😂😂
I’ve been Ms Clumsy waitress when I was brand new (not at all rude or cold, just didn’t know what the hell I was doing). Spilled a glass of wine on a woman’s beautiful white jacket at this fancy country club I worked at. She was SOOOO nice to me, the club picked up the dry cleaning and oddly no one was mad at me…probably because I was crying…haha. I got better at it, but I was better at lifting the clean up trays (tall and strong) than I was at formal dining service. I am excellent at customer service, but would get so nervous around all the fine dining “rules”…was only there 6 months before going back to the kind of retail I was used to and really good at. Not all of us are cut out to be servers! It’s hard! Tip your servers and exercise grace!! Unless they are an asshole like this waitress was…

You didn’t wear white to a wedding, you wore a BLACK dress with a TINY amount of white lace to a wedding. Also, what the hell kind of wedding party was being hosted? I want to go to this wedding.
I think it's hliarious OP's mom thought that was fine, but one the same color but with black lace was bad.
That's a bit more than a tiny amount of white
Same! I wanna go too!
It sounds more like a fanfic than anything else. I dont like how OP tells the story at all.
How refreshing to hear a story about rich people who helped their family and didn't have unrealistic expectations 😊
The good rich people are the ones who know what it's like to be in service themselves.
The whole thing sounds made up
@@alinaoliveraidk, I work in a very wealthy area and the first story sounds like something that would happen to one of our customers.

Lol, the aunt being on Facebook for mobile game lives is such a mood. Love that.
Wishing the couple many more happy years.
hearing how this couple ran their wedding gives me literal chills - this is the bar i’ve now set for how weddings should be coordinated (even if not to this scale financially), the generosity is astounding 🎉
The fact that it was an intimate wedding too 🥺 everybody who was there was TRULY wanted there no mattered what. They just wanted everybody to be prepared
For me things that don't count are;
1. White Jackets, blazers and coverups
2. White decorations
3. White as backgroundcolour dresses with colour and print, as long as they are not floorlength and mostly colour.
Don't look like a bride would and honour the dresscode. When in doubt, ask.
3th might be debatable, I have seen people on reddit going really far as in how that is a 'no-go' as well.
Like I would not dare wearing a white dress with flower print, but I would not bitch at someone who does.
But she was so absolutely beyond any doubt
@@marlena.Would not dare wearing it myself but I would not fault someone for it
@@SingingSealRiana I guess it kinda depends on the silouette and the background-pattern ratio. If the dress is more florals than white background, or if it has white polka dots or stripes, I guess it doesn't count as "wearing white", but if the dress is basically a white dress with one occasional flower per square meter of fabric, it definitely isn't appropriate.
I've just realized I once wore white to a wedding 😮
It was like 15 years ago.
I really like how you phrased that last sentence.
Girl, you sounded like you were fine. As long as the wedding and reception outfits weren't white, you deserved no hate for that outfit. I'm on your side.
That was a Melanie and Scarlet moment! You have a wonderful person as a friend!
What you wore sounded lovely, I’d love to wear something like that 😊 I’m glad your friend said what she did because that’s how I imagined it also! Very movie star like 🤩 I despise people who throw looks rather than just tell me, like your last sentence though…there’s definitely a helpful and not so helpful way to do that
I'm curious as to low long it's been considered rude to wear white to a wedding. I'm pretty sure I never heard of this before the Internet.
What was the drama? 👀
She didn't do it maliciously. She was worried about upstaging you. You were fine with it. She's not the AH. What a sweet girl.
This 👏🙌
This is actually so nice of you and her intentions weren’t malicious and you as the bride comforted and supported her so it’s a win win and a very respectful and peaceful way to handle said situation at the time! (Hoping more people act this way when such occurrences arise)

Agree with Charlotte, the aunt and uncle sound like amazing people and I'm really happy that they found each other.
I thought the same!
Frankly, her behavior would be over the line even if they were being a little crazy. You don't act condescending and belittling towards the people paying for your services.
I felt bad about the server being nervous too, but yeah I got why the bride didn't like her.
I had the same exact thought. She had to be related to someone or a girlfriend/wife...
I was about to say I bet she was someones relative or one of a friend and thats why manager didn't just fire her
I'm shocked that waitress wasn't fired on the spot when she insulted the bride and groom at the dinner tasting. That catering company should have given them a total refund of all services. That's just ridiculous.
what's a bet she's related to one of the bosses of the catering company
@@TheTynell1was coming to say the same thing. The clumsy waitress is probably related to the manager.
@@TheTynell1 that had to have been the only reason she even stayed that long!!!
@@DvsChulaor related to the higher ups.
Wow, that waitress was all wrong for them. And that manager should be ashamed for even having her there after those comments she made.
Probably lay a relative
@@agnes15101968 I'm wandering if she had an undiagnosed neurological condition. But that doesn't explain her rudeness.
@@agnes15101968 same! How dare she make these comments, that's disgusting!
It sounds like the server was making assumptions about the aunt being a bridezilla.....
That's the vibes I got from her comments.
Communication is key. Well done girl ❤
Literally they were trolls
That's the equivalent of me wearing a blue suit with a white shirt. It isn't "wearing white" to a wedding
When I saw the dress my heart fluttered! It was beautiful and very much appropriate. I love black and white clothing and as a nearly 33 year old, goth like attire is still very much a loved trend! 🩶🖤
Wasnt there only 1 story or am I confused?
@@SaintShion Yes. I think they posted that comment after the main story but before all the updates.
😂😂 in that case all the men should also hv taken off their shirts
You should’ve maliciously complied and stripped. Jk 😂
They sounded like so much fun 😭
Considering how little most kids are taught at home now, they really need to bring those classes back. Everyone should know the basics of cooking and sewing.

The way Charlotte pronounces ‘appliqués’ is too adorable!
I think it’s the catering company’s fault 100%. You have to be able to hire the right people as a company and test them for something so important.
Based on descriptions, I'm wondering if she has Parkinson's or similar.
Imagine when she picked up that crystal flute tray and didn't know how heavy it would be on top on it too. 😬 the girl was not ready
I went to a wedding in July and there was a "moment" during the ceremony. An entire table of full sparkling wine glasses was knocked over by a caterer. (Poor girl)
The photographer had the incredible luck of capturing the exact moment and it's everyone's favourite image from the day.
I guess it takes a different perspective.

So, it`s pretty clear that the waitress should not be waitressing, and most importantly, that the manager should not be managing. She should have been fired, too, for keeping putting that girl back to work.

poverty mindset from that waitress. bitterness, jealousy, and hatred for people who have money is literally programming yourself to never have money. you get what you put out; if you tell the universe "money bad" the universe says "as you wish" and you get no money. it's a weird comparison, but i struggled with learning to swim, didnt swim until i was 9. i learned by being grateful my friend COULD swim; i watched her and appreciated her skill and inwardly celebrated her freedom to glide in the water, instead of being jealous like i had been before. as i celebrated her, i found myself floating and *poof* i could swim from that day on. if we did the same about money and 'success' and celebrate others, we would discover their successes and wealth finds its way into our lives as well.

I freaking love Charlotte’s energy
I get needing the 'security' when they are back there dealing with that money but forcing a teenager to stay there until 1-2 maybe 3 in the morning cause you're slow af... is INSANE.

Also don't wear off-white, cream, 'Winter White.'😊
Dude, I want to hear this story in detail. Did your dog destroy the dress? Or did you guys just tell her to fuck off and she had a meltdown?
Oh Please wright that in full detail on the Charlotte Dobree Subreddit! I am here for that drama! Also good job puppy! By the way, I hope you get full reimbursement for all the damage she caused.
How in the world did she manage to do 10,000 worth of damage to your cottage? Was she hulk or something 😭??
I wonder if she can dye the appliques to match the wine stains?
@@lotstodo that's what I often think also. Or even just spill more wine so it matches.
There's often a way to be creative and save something... I feel like a wine stain is one of the easiest. (But use a cheap red wine don't waste expensive wine 🤭)
Or even remove the lace and replace it if you REALLY want it to be the same... But that is more expensive and more effort to be done properly.
@sarahcaitlyn88 Good ideas! I would hate to part with something that pretty.
Hitting someone with a wine bottle hard enough to cause a bruise is assault, regardless of what the person was wearing.
@@arianebolt1575even throwing wine on someone is assault.
Same! I've stressed about this before in the past as well.
Most people in real life don’t care.
0:12 I think you would make a good Morticia Addams
She’s dressed up as Morticia before
A good friend wore a shorter white lace dress to our wedding, but had a beautiful colourful wrap over her shoulders for most of the time since it was a fall wedding. had a small wedding. It was also a small wedding (47 people). She came up to me during the reception and was really apologetic for wearing white, and I both sincerely didn’t notice, and didn’t care. Nobody would ever mistake her for the bride, nor was she the kind of person to try to pull that.
That aunt and uncle where class acts. The rental dresses and suites being covered is awesome.
I agree! Ms clumsy should have never been allowed to keep her job after all that disrespect at the "dinner party".
I would've fired her on the spot!
I remember reading this story when it first went up, and I am so glad that you covered it and the updates. That dress was gorgeous and so was the tea.
That’s not true at all. Superstitions are just that, they’re superstitions, not real… wear what’s appropriate, what you want and what you can afford.
@@Suedepants100 Superstition and tradition are pretty closely wound together in alot of cases, and some people (like myself) ARE superstitious and belive in those kinda things like luck and karma.
@@Sirens-MelodyThis is common knowledge where I’m from as well. Colors and flowers have meanings dating back centuries so this is indeed true.
14:35 I’m confused as to why the management of the caterering service didn’t train Ms Clumsey in the correct etiquette, and serving.
Yeah, that was entirely on them.
If you hire someone who doesn't have the set of skills/knowledge necessary to do their job, you were either neglectful in the hiring process since you didn't notice, or you were neglectful in noticing but offering no training.
Either way, that manager was awful.
She was definitely someone's relative or friend, 100% a nepo hire who wasn't held to the same standards as the other staff.
@@jazzycat8917that’s what I was thinking too! Had to have got the role due to connections not her own abilities!
@@jazzycat8917 that was my guess as well! The reason they didn't fire her yet was because she was related to someone who worked there

All chefs were on salary and at the time I was making just under $90000 a year
4:42 It's not the server's job to assault someone to enforce the dress code, regardless.

I was then asked to only serve a maximum 3 drinks at a time even if it was a table with 10+ orders 😂
i did eventually get strong and comfortable enough to carry a full tray of drinks over the years though.
Trying to NOT spill 8 pounds of drinks...)
Ms.
Just got married yesterday! I’m glad this is the video for today I love the petty wedding drama

That black and white dress. Wow, that dress is so beautiful. Very nice to wear to a wedding.
I adore the aunt and uncle. They sound like absolute Gems, and the wedding sounds stunning.
Charlotte is glowing, soooo gorgeous, i love her style❤

Lol
0:16 I literally watch this ten times before I continue the video hahahahahaha I adore it.
I really liked this story and all the detail OP gave. Good job on this!!
Adrian, it was not your fault, and that was bullshit.
wow sorry for the tirade

Love these stories, Charlotte. Who wouldn't want relations like that generous aunt and uncle! BTW, the Rip Dom Perignon is Rest in Peace, RIP.
Waitress must have been related to or screwing the boss. That's the only two explanations that make sense.
Yep, it’s not making any sense to me. Work of fiction.
I was thinking the same, bet if he didn't let her continue her job she'd tell his wife who may be the owner of the catering company.
Ya, it's fiction
So mom was willing to help only with strings attached !! 4:20 White lace on a black dress is NOT WEARING WHITE
If the mom was paying for the dress, it's not unreasonable for her to have a say in what kind of dress the daughter bought. We don't know how the first dress looked like, but I can see how a 100% black gown full of black lace (maybe Gothic style) might give out funeral vibes.

It used to be in bad taste to wear black to a wedding as it is a color for grieving. However times have changed. When I got married in 1988 I wore a pink lace tea length dress. My MOH wore a simple white dress, with my approval. Everyone could tell who the bride was.

2:23 wearing a black dress to a wedding is considered rude because it traditionally symbolizes you disapprove of the marriage. But that's mainly for older female relatives of the bride and groom, not as much younger women.
In Germany it is considered rude to this day but I think rather due to the association between black and death
@@afquan9211Agreed. Especially when you consider some cultures ware white to funerals.

In this instance, I find it very hard to believe they served everyone at a long table of 40ish people (20:30) in unison, so that doesn't really make sense but even if that were the case, I fully believe they would have accepted slightly slower service over what happened.
they were so kind and just wanted things to simply look nice and go smoothly for everyone.

I’ve been Ms Clumsy waitress when I was brand new (not at all rude or cold, just didn’t know what the hell I was doing).
