I could see the frustration building. Walking away when it gets too much is a good idea as I’ve found that burning the whole thing to the ground doesn’t seem to help for some strange reason 😂😂😂❤
So much patients Grant. I think we’d have ended up using a bigger hammer to solve the rear window issue. And you are right about Sirocco fans, they are fantastic. Although corrugations have broken two of ours so far. So we know how to quickly replace them. 😂. Good to see Baxter helping 👍
We had the same windows in our old jayco songbird, we had to repair a couple of the over the 30 years we had it, what I noticed while watching you was that when we released the mechanism was the windows would just flop down to the van. So we're thinking that is the thing you need to get right to get it to work right ( better) even doing that you may still find you will have to push the windows from the outside to lock as our were the same but it was the slide lock the would ware over the years. Well done staying calm I can still see my husband pacing around in frustration 😅. But to be honest I wish our new van had the winding windows instead of the let's push and hope they stay open.
Im guessing you have it sorted now but I replaced our winders a while back and found the easy way to fix the problem was to take out the bar at the top of the window gently on the side that is closed and turn it just enough to close the other side then put it back in,hope I explained it so people can understand 😀
Hey Grant, I ended up hitting the same side of my back window winder arm with a grinder and redrilling a new hole, It now works like a treat. But I can't say to do it for your new mechs as i was in a hurry to get my build done for a trip, I'm thinking because you are so close to closing you could try to adjust that one side by a turn or 2 and see if that helps it sit right. Hope this helps see how you go. I ended up changing all of my pop rivets that connect the window to the winder over to m3 lock nuts and bolts so I never have to drill out a rivet again.
Hi Grant great job on the bloody window, they sure are a dozzy of a job, I'm glad I'm not doing it once was enough years ago lol. Don't know how ya didn't loose your shit. Try a couple of small plastic containers with screw on lids " about half a beer can in size drill 1/8 holes add a bit of rice in bottom and 3/4 fil with bicarb/ baking soda, shake we'll repeat once a week this will absorb most of the moisture, change every couple of months or when goes hard - i double sided Velcro so it stays that way while traveling, can always use old to dust around things outside the control ants Good luck mate . Wazza
@Livin_Like_Kings_ hi bud, I know that you get a little, how's ya father over so many comments re: ideas, but I wouldn't mention them if not tried n tested 😉 😜 I'm 55yrs n my 2 boys 26/19 always asking for tips, so I say can you remember that time, n then light goes on, n they go yeh got it n walk away laughing 😃 It's good for doggy 🐕 odorous Cheers 🍻
Well done quite a list. The beauty of a list it gives satisfaction when all items are ticked off. BTW didn’t see ‘check anode in hot water tank ‘ on your list, or have you done that recently?
Our sirocco fan has the same noise Just a thought would you be able to adjust the lever on the side that’s playing up possibly winding it up or down a couple of turns to maybe pull that side in at the same time
My winding mechanisms are working well but my glass windows are cracking now its a 2000 built roadstar caravan , im thinking off replacing all the glass windows for that tinted plastic stuff i have on my door that works well 🤔 i want to keep the original frames and winders and i guess it will save a bit off weight to , has anyone out there done this mod
Yes on our 1983 Viscount, but don't use plastic. I used uv stable both side polycarbonate and tinted them myself. But you can get tinted grey uv polycarbonate. Saves a fair bit of weight.

🤣🤣 I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about it!

Oh man that would’ve been so frustrating. Well done keeping your cool 😂
Thanks 😅
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ I was getting frustrated watching you poor bugger 🤣

Great advice! Thanks!
I’ll do away with the pop rivets I think😁👍
@@Livin_Like_Kings_ make sure to use stainless steel ones so they don’t rust. It will make it easier to remove again to clean next time.
Is the window slightly warped? That would be killing me😂😂😂
I think it might be!?🤷♂️

Yes good spot! The anode will be done shortly 😁👍
I think all van windows are apt to need a bit of a push from outside.
Probably ☺️
After watching so many people saying how great the sirocco fan were we had to get one and wow how disappointed we were🤷🏻
Sorry to hear that, this is the first time I’ve heard anything bad.
Our sirocco fan has the same noise

I don’t know we tried a couple of things and it didn’t make a difference.
I also thought that the locking latch may have been pushed in a little on that side

Rear Window 2 (coming soon) ?
Has anyone out there replaced their glass windows to tinted plastic ones and was it worth it 🤔
Hi grant Black fans look better
Yeah they do, put we already have other white ones, and didn’t want to replace them
