    It's neat how the Dyson circuitry can manage the lower battery voltage by upping the current...pulse width power transfer I'm guessing.
    I used the Makita adapter and made my own 9aH 18V battery using sony VT6 3aH cells in a 5s3p configuration. The results are similar to yours with an approx 50% increase in run times. Battery stays fairly cool but the V8 motor gets quite hot.

    I agree.. lots of issues for me with the original battery holding much of a charge. 15 to 20 minutes and dead frequently.

    The Dyson battery are 6 Li-Ion cells in series resulting in 21.6v. nominal. The DeWalt batteries are nominal 18v. (5 cells in series). They market them as 20v because in the USA they pretty much can say any bullshit they want.
    So you are actually under-powering the Dyson if you use DeWalt batteries.

    Good video although I would like to know if any of the Dyson or cordless hoovers can be modified to accept and be run by mains 240 volt or an adapter to reduce to the voltage for the motor as this may be even lighter than having a battery at the base attached at all

    • @ToolsElectroDIY
      @ToolsElectroDIY  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I thought about this mod too. Get a 300W Lenovo gaming laptop AC to DC adapter, the voltage should be within the 20V range, cut the cord and use a DeWALT battery placeholder then it should be able to power this vacuum.

      The 6a/h battery has 5 cells in series ( to build the voltage up to 20.5 max) it also has 2 rows parallel so thats 10 cells altogether.
      The 2a/h battery has the same 5 cells in series, but only a single row so 5 cells altogether. In the 10 cell battery, the large demand from the motor is shared by 2 rows of cells , which dramatically reduces the demand from the cells .
