  • This is the fifth installment of our “How To Do Fabric A Finish On Your Guitar Body”. We are getting really close to this one being finished but you know how it goes… the last 10% takes the longest time and it’s all a bunch of little stuff. Hell, all the fun work has already been done!
This time around We show y’all how to smooth out all the rough bits. Matt told this customer it would feel like a week old bar of soap when it was finished.
One of the most popular things we do is the fabric finish, it is also one of the things we get the most questions on. I recently decided to do a definitive series of videos with a companion blog on the website to answer these questions once and for all. In this, the forth video, I show y’all just how easy it is to make template. Remember, if you practice these techniques you should get great results every time… guaranteed!

These Americans are pretty resourceful people. Always seem to have the right equipment/approach to fabrication in general. Thanks for the upload, very informative. To be honest I didn't know what was happening until you attached the jig to the guitar body and offered it up to your fancy router setup.

LOL @ the comment about the "workforce" and the product thickness. Anyone that's worked on a Fender Squire guitar knows that feel - they coat those things in an eighth of an inch of sealer - you can sand for 10 minutes and not worry about seeing wood.

In another question here you said you use PPC color and Tamco top coats. I'm guessing you don't use a color over cloth, right? Is the clear coat applied the same way with a weenie roller (I don't have a spray gun, and can't justify buying one for my first experimental cloth-covered guitar)? Thanks.
