As someone with a chronic illness that follows a lot of chronically ill/disabled advocates, every time I panic about aging, I think about the comment "aging is a privilege". Not everyone gets to age, whether from health issues, accidents, war, etc.-getting old is something to celebrate. Besides, a few forehead lines or smile lines don't change who you are or make you less valuable as a person.
I agree, but there’s also something to be said for “aging gracefully” and my generation just didn’t have the knowledge that’s out there now. You know? I’m 41yrs and just starting using SPF instead of friken baby oil when I’m in the sun! We were taught that if you have skin that doesn’t straight up burn in the sun then you wear oil to get a nice tan. Only SPF if you get sun burns. SO… now I’m trying to undo all the damage. We just didn’t know any better. Which makes it hard to age gracefully 😂 thanks to this channel and a few others, I know how to take care of my skin now. I’m just lucky I could never afford tanning beds growing up. (Like a lot of my classmates did) I would be a lot worse off. But back to the point. I do agree with you tho, to age is a privilege. And I’m grateful everyday that I continue to wake up.
As a middle aged woman I am so so tired of all skin care focusing on getting rid of wrinkles. I want my skin to be healthy, ie hydrated and glowing. Wrinkles, unless removed by botox or surgically, will not be removed by creams ffs Also, why would I want to get rid of them? Ugh
I’m 49 and don’t have many wrinkles or even fine lines yet and just got into skincare three years ago. So much of the aging process is down to genetics.
Facts. My Grandma had beautiful skin, at 106! It's mainly genetic why I'm still line free at 48. Argireline does help my 11s from squinting. Otherwise, moisture and genes ❤
Jealous! I'm 30 and have *prominent* smile lines and gravity is def doing its job on my skin. But thank you for pointing that out because so often people with good genetics brag about their good skin being down to their moisturizer or drinking water. Lol
At 63 I was a little late to the game of taking care of my skin but thankfully good genes helped. Now I’m on a good regiment of skincare INCLUDING sunscreen! I have to say that I’m proud of my laugh lines! I earned them. I must say I enjoy your videos and they help keep me updated on what’s new and useful, plus the ones that are a waste of money. ❤❤❤❤❤
I just turned 29 and I've seen the start of aging coming on, but even then, I smile a lot and that's okay! I lift my forehead quite a bit and that's okay. My retinol has really slowed things down and makes it significantly less visible (to me, anyway, because I see myself constantly) and I recognize that to others my "wrinkles" are probably invisible. I'm happy to let my retinol work its magic, but I'm not about to stop smiling. 🤷♀️
I love that you decided to talk about this! As someone with body dysmorphia it's definitely been a challenge to learn to be accepting of my smile lines, but focusing more on the health of my skin rather than the appearance of it has really helped me to embrace it
As a 15 year old i feel overwhelmed because i’ve noticed sometimes i get crazy scared over getting wrinkles and comparing my face to all the influencers who face tune the shit out of their face
You are incredibly strong to have to grow up in the filter era. Just remember that even the people in the pictures don’t look like that. While unfortunately the information you have access to comes in the form of both good and bad, lean in to content like Hyram’s or Doctorly. Take advantage of their knowledge and expertise. My generation was trying to burn our acne off with rubbing alcohol at your age lol so you’re already WAY ahead of the game in skin health just by being here ♥️ Consistency with a good moisturizer and sunscreen is really all you need. If you have acne, Differen adapalene gel will really help and since it’s a retinoid you will also get some long term “anti-aging” benefits as well. It’s as simple as that. But just keep reminding yourself that real skin looks real lol and that is a beautiful thing ♥️♥️♥️
Yes exactly what @docp4449 is saying! Real skin is good skin. What you see with filters isn’t real and should never be compared to. If you’re doing skin care to take care of your skin, that’s what makes the biggest difference 😊
Completely agree with the comments about anti-aging consciousness in the world today. It feels so similar to the diet culture of the 90's. Companies try to make us feel guilty for simply existing and push products on us to "fix" these "issues".
Smile lines means you have had a happy life. It is sad people hate them. Also I smoked for 18 years and almost always drink from straws and do not have lines around my mouth.
Thank you for pointing out how silly and joy-draining these wrinkle-obsessed "hacks" are. I am a woman in my mid 40's with not a wrinkle on my face and I have never used botox or devices that make your face muscles not move. I'll continue smiling, squinting, scrunching my eyebrows and laughing while I enjoy life. Young ladies/folks: sunscreen & tretinoin, supplemented with science-backed ingredients. Don't rob yourself of enjoying life and relaxing to reduce your future wrinkles by .0000000000000000001% with muscle-inhibiting techniques.
I am 31 and constantly told I look way younger than I am on the daily and yet I am STILL paranoid about aging. I often buy into the hacks and want to do what I can to prevent it and I’m not even really sure why. I want to unlearn that but it is a struggle.
Smile lines are beautiful, to me they are an outward sign of beauty within. I think you are a beautiful person Hyram and i bet someday you will have smile lines and they will be so gorgeous. ❤️

On the banana peel - they do have a mild paralytic in the peel, in high school a friend ate an entire banana peel on a dare and it made her whole face numb for several hours but it was a gross, unpleasant experience.. I also doubt rubbing it on your face would do anything lol much less be "natural botox"

Am I the only one that finds smile lines attractive 😭😝👀
That's awesome! Like I mentioned, I love seeing them because it shows the happiness that's been in your life 🥹
The only time I have/will chew "upward" is when I am wearing a neck brace...even then it is a nightmare
Oh man that sounds so painful! 🥺
😂hyram you are hilarious
Thank yeww! 🥹
I don't do that anymore to my face
omg i remember when i was like 10 and i mixed avocado honey and oats and put it on my face because i saw it on pinerest!! i broke out so much!! 😭😭😭
But to be fair, that's not the worst combo by far. Idk about avocado but oats and honey are usually green lit by dermatologists.
Because the body wasn't smoked good but I don't do that anymore with my face
“Oh wow she’s 31? She looks great” BRO 31 AINT OLD. There’s truly not much difference between 25 and 33 in skin. Srsly.
That drove me nuts lol. The irony…
Hi HYRAM!!!
Hiiii! ☺️
Yes Hyram. Round 2……. Go for it.
but do any of these work causeee👀👀
Not every person thinks like you brother 😂❤
What does it say about me that my first thought with the anti wrinkle straw was what a bitch it would be to clean?
So I’m 13 years and experiencing lots of acne all around my face as well as small bumps. I have tried Salicylic acid, Niacinamide,
and lots of other acids but my dark spots/pimples never go away. I really have tried everything that is available to me do you have any suggestions on what I should do/use?
Aww I’m so sorry to hear that. I would strongly recommend seeing a dermatologist. I know it can be more expensive but they can help find what ingredients and products your skin needs 💙
Hyram 2024⬇️
But I don't do that anymore to my face. I know what to put on my face now
My grandma would tape her forehead every night when she went to sleep and honestly the woman barely had viable wrinkles
I come here for the skincare content but as a far left leaning aspiring journalist/historian hearing Hyram say late stage capitalism was a nice added bonus hahahahah
Denim does not require frequent washing
HYRAM. How are you a 90s baby and you've never seen the Terminator? :O
The body washed just smelled good
I was watching a 14 year old do an anti wrinkle routine that she had been doing for two years 0_0
Still... A RUclips tattoo??😂😂 Cmon hyram..
I see how it may look lame to you, but RUclips actually saved my life 🥺 I talk about it in this video 💙

The chew upwards girl clearly has a face full of product

At this point just get Botox instead of all these hacks.
Really though, it's such a well researched and safe procedure
