I like to spend a bit of time with a machine before saying anything about it. I am liking the new synths, still a bit to program them atm but lots of potential. especially giving more room with 8 sample tracks and 8 midi/synth tracks. Still learning all the nuance of the machine though.

tl;dr Hey man, great stuff. Question from a newbie. I am looking into purchasing a groovebox and the trackers got my attention. Now i have some experience with the Akai pro force, a clip launcher type of device, never gave it a serious look though, sold it, but i want to give grooveboxes a second go. Now looking at your video's which are amazing btw, i am kind of intimidated and discouraged, since at what seemed a relatively easy to understand device, is now becoming a pretty intense and complex machine, thanks to your video's :). My question, coming from limited experience, really want to give hardware trackers a serious chance, looking at the differences between the tracker og, and the mini, is there any advise you could give me regarding the two devices? Would it be smarter to start with the trackerOG or the mini, there are some significant changes hardware wise which could be more beneficial for beginners then lets say the button pushing mini? I do love the mic on the mini and all the extra power and battery though. I am just having doubts which one would be better for a beginner standpoint. Anyways, thanks for the content and keep it up! Its really helpful.

I am working on a video atm about this but the main thing is portability over immediacy. I like the og tracker as most functions are one button away making for some speedy music making when you get past the learning curve, however the battery/ power of the Mini has become something that i carry every day just making tunes. I feel you should pick the one that you want, and spend the time to learn the device. I make videos focusing on the workflow as it seems to be a dark magic of rocket scientists that use trackers. however it is a very versatile workflow and allows you to do a lot with a little. I would recommend checking out my video about comparable trackers like milky tracker and have a go making music with it first.

Cool, looking out for the video. About the dark magic, it indeed feels this way somehow, like your looking at encrypted coding in Matric style, which somehow is suppose to represent music. I am ingesting al lot of Tracker vids these days to figure out of this is for me, but i have to say it all slowly starting to makes sense. I got my mind set to spend money on this, its just how it works with me (sadly). The fact that the OG has more dedicated (mechanical!) buttons and the dial feels like it could help me out more regarding the learning curve, maybe less to think about, and more straight forward.
One technical question, i am trying to figure out. When looking at the FX information and seeing there are only two dedicated buttons, does this actually mean the limit is 2?
Anyhow, thanks for the reply, keep it up, and have a good one.

Hello. Great stuff. I want to sample my barp 2600 - where can I read how this wavetable file creation and correct recording is done? I get Tracker in week or two and want to be ready) From what I've seen it is not plain wav(e) file

Why is that a bad thing? The tracker has been around for a while, having built in synths is gonna be great

I still feel the OG tracker is such an under rated machine. From the original firmware to 1.7, its has made some big strides already. Knowing that its mostly filled the chip, there is probably little more they can add, however they are still wanting to get features on the OG Tracker so we will see what they come up with.

@@SantiagoGT15 I'm trying g to support companies who create tech that lives longer, rather than following this obsolescence path with everything...they were able to salvage the Play tech with the refurb to the Plus but as they've said it would be harder with the older stuff. Having said that...Elektron are still updating decade old gear with small chip memories so it should be doable if done right

@@Aisjam some tough choices to come...but when you stand back and look at what they've created it's pretty amazing from a creative point of view. And I love their interface design too, such A HUGE part of their appeal :)

@@Farold_Haltermeyer but the new play didn’t make the previous versions obsolete… you can still use them, it’s like saying the Juno-x made every juno clone obsolete
