I am 52 and was raised in the south as a Democrat and as I got older I felt like I identified more as a Republican, and now I can't claim to be a member of either party but I can claim to be an American who wants the best for all in this great country of ours. I can see good points and bad points in both parties, but one thing Tom said in this song hit the nail on the head about how I feel these days, "It don’t matter who’s the winner ‘cause the people always lose". Me vs. You is the first time I have listened to Tom (6/21.2024) and this video made me an instant fan.

Victoria, I'm glad you tossed some flowers to Nova. Her videography is phenomenal, especially her use of symbolism. She's very adept at using simple concepts and simple settings to give impactful visual-life to Tom's lyrical messages. I loved that she used a warehouse setting to symbolize the working-class of the people who are being pitted against each other by the elites who run the system. On a lighter note, congratulations on being able to deal with three Toms without needing your inhaler. Can we take this as a sign that Tom is managing to toughen you up a bit? 🤣

I totally agree with your breakdown. I'm constantly somewhere in the middle on most issues these days and everyone around me thinks of me as a cultist or conspiracy theorist because I'm not on THEIR side... What happened to nuance and empathy? Am I not allowed to find compassion for people I disagree with?

Red Tom presented nothing more than logic, common sense, and objective facts. Blue Tom presented subjective feelings, emotions, and MSM talking points. I’ll stick with the red side before I ever give the blue side the attention they want. Their cry baby tactics are pathetic and sad.

I actually use to be a liberal Democrat voter, brainwashed by MSM to hate right wingers because "blah blah blah, right wing bad"... then over these past few years i started noticing the hypocrisy and called out the BS from the left... now im not conservative or Republican, but i don't see them as i was brainwashed to back then. Now im a center right independent... and im fine sitting on the fence making my choices on what i believe and support (per subject) instead of supporting what the party tells me i have to support.... It still has 7.3 million views. That isn't chump change. Then there are artists like Samson who can't reach over 200k subscribers and he only has 2 tracks that have gotten over 1 million views. It just doesn't make sense.
Then there's Ryan Upchurch who has a subscriber count that has been sitting at just over 3 million for over 4 years. How is that even possible?
Not just artists. Conservative commentators have a hard time gaining numbers too. Mark Dice for one. You have to type the video title into the search bar to get to most of his videos. Very few videos are ever recommended. That's why they don't see growth on their channels. They aren't being recommended to new eyeballs. I'm not subscribed to Tom, but I am always having his videos recommended to me whenever he releases a new one. Even his older videos pop up in my feed.
He's definitely not being shadowbanned.
@@saddletramp5000 Tom promotes his new releases very hard on socials, his fan base go even harder, one million views in the first 24hrs because he's been promoting it for the previous week. RUclips have a love hate relationship with Tom, his videos bring in the numbers but a few of them are considered controversial, to mitigate this Tom self censors all his cuss words, so as to take one reason for shadow banning him away. I like Samson but in Cesspool he admits he doesn't push his music, he shouldn't criticise those that do, Upchurch was brilliant a few years ago, but his subscribers are dropping, more rants than music, Tom and Nova have the underdog back story and people like that.

I was raised the same way u were. Times have changed, people’s needs have definitely changed over the years. I think my entire family has changed their beliefs over the last 10 years, including me. My opinion, politicians only care about themselves, they’ll all say anything to keep their power, in the end WE lose. I say that because they’re making us stay at each others throats and whole time they’re sitting high and mighty watching us do nothing but hate.

Someone pointed this out in another reaction but I agree whole heartedly that Tom is making a great representation that when the Right makes a valid point and comes out with facts that the Left comes back with a non relevant argument on another subject that isn't even related but reactor also made another point that it's not the Left that always brings up these topics it's The System that does to get us arguing rather than focusing on the task at hand. Great reaction. As a veteran of Gulf War, it breaks my heart to see people reach for hatred so quick. I will say neither party really cares about us veterans..we are just scapegoats for agendas. I have received more support and caring from regular people on all sides. George Washington was right about political parties and was our ONLY independent president. Nothing will change when we keep voting the same two in. Neither party cares about the "people" As all things in life we need balance...do conservatives have good view points yes, but liberals have good points too..we need balance..to much of one becomes tyranny. We should work together as a people. We might not always agree, but just like any relationship you cannot have your way all the time...comprise is a must.

I saw another reactor succinctly observe that each side will likely agree with THEIR Tom in this video. Everyone wil likely disagree on some of our political positions, and I'm not fence riding either with the "why can't we all just get along" mantra, but EQ and cognitive self-awareness require each of us, on all sides, to recognize our own biases and the emotional investments that we bring with those biases, resulting in the emotional shutdown of any intelligent discussions by both sides. I have long said that I'm willing to have an intelligent, non-emotional conversation with anyone. But once the screaming starts, reason exits. By listening, I'll probably still disagree with some folks, but we'll each better understand why the other feels the way they do, and we will have a mutual respect for the leaving of emotions outside.
Oh, and "listening" also means not thinking of the next point or argument we want to make while they are stating theirs. That's just "hearing" and not "listening"

I agree Victoria. My conservative hs girlfriend went way way liberal. We didn't talk for like a decade cause of all these hot topics and things they like pushing in our face with the knowing that it's going to divide and make us argue/hate each other. A difference of opinion use to make us move forward, and now it makes us see each other as enemies. We don't talk and discuss, we yell and fight. Her and I recently talked and really got along, I think more are seeing that our views are being used by the higher ups to keeps our eyes off them!
Oh my gosh yes it’s sad that it causes such a divide. But I hope u two are doing ok. It’s sad when stuff like this gets in between people and their relationships
History shows societies tend to die not long after they indulge in consumption, pleasure and sacrifice. What are we consuming? Everything. What pleasures are we indulging in? Anything. What are we sacrificing? The future of our potential children.
