This song fuels relief of emotions. Heavy emotions lifted after hearing this. I didn’t start feeling anything until the day after the attempt. Since I wasn’t majorly emotional the day of, it caught me off guard when emotions started spilling out of me. I sometimes forget how delayed my reactions can be about extremely stressful things. I got surprised by this song release, and it pulled the weight of my emotions off me. I used to believe that Democrats and Republicans mostly wanted the same things, and had different views on how to get there. That changed under Obama. It was the first time I ever heard a political leader refer to fellow Americans as enemies. There had been ugly names before, but none cut like enemies. It wouldn’t have been so bad, except for the fact that friends and family of people started treating people as such. I didn’t like Obama, but I never treated anyone different for supporting him. It’s been continually spiraling at a fast pace since. It’s not like Republicans just started being demonized when he came along. The cultural joke has always been that Republicans are evil. I have seen it from both sides, because I use to be a Democrat. Many of the things that are considered to be offensive were the same views as I had as a Democrat. I have always been patriotic, and loved God, my country, and the flag. I won’t be changing that for anyone.

It's not so much as 'right vs left', but right vs wrong, good vs evil. Tom is saying that in the verse 'shoot straight' means talking out the differences without being violent, to be honest and not play the 'I'm right you're wrong' game without actually listening and using proper discourse. Violence is never the answer to solving any disagreements. Except in situations where a person is violent and you have to respond in kind to defend yourself or others. There's many emotional responses going on both sides because of Trump almost assassinated. Many, including Tom are disgusted and angry that this occurred with some being disappointed that the kid failed. No, many, many people owe it to everyone else to NOT vote. They have a right but it isn't a duty unless you are genuinely informed. They shouldn't vote. These college aged people who say, "I don't really follow politics or know anything about the candidates BUT..." NO STOP RIGHT THERE. You are willingly ignorant on an important subject that you don't care for. Your opinion doesn't matter and you are doing yourself and everyone else a favor by staying away from the polling stations. It's perfectly okay if a person isn't interested or just doesn't have the time because... they're in school and working. Or watching sports and movies ect... It ISN'T okay to blindly give away your vote because somebody made you feel a certain way or because you think you're part of some team. If you aren't informed then stay on the bench.

This song fuels relief of emotions. Heavy emotions lifted after hearing this. I didn’t start feeling anything until the day after the attempt. Since I wasn’t majorly emotional the day of, it caught me off guard when emotions started spilling out of me. I sometimes forget how delayed my reactions can be about extremely stressful things. I got surprised by this song release, and it pulled the weight of my emotions off me. I used to believe that Democrats and Republicans mostly wanted the same things, and had different views on how to get there. That changed under Obama. It was the first time I ever heard a political leader refer to fellow Americans as enemies. There had been ugly names before, but none cut like enemies. It wouldn’t have been so bad, except for the fact that friends and family of people started treating people as such. I didn’t like Obama, but I never treated anyone different for supporting him. It’s been continually spiraling at a fast pace since. It’s not like Republicans just started being demonized when he came along. The cultural joke has always been that Republicans are evil. I have seen it from both sides, because I use to be a Democrat. Many of the things that are considered to be offensive were the same views as I had as a Democrat. I have always been patriotic, and loved God, my country, and the flag. I won’t be changing that for anyone.
While I fully understand the frustration with politics currently, I would be remiss to not point out that as a conservative I don’t get the opportunity to speak to anyone on the other side due to them simply calling me a racist (with no evidence) and tuning me out.. it goes that way around the country… you’re a conservative? Well you’re racist, fascistic, Nazi sympathizers and you need to be silenced by any means necessary… that’s how it really is in real life… I’ve seen it and actually had some of that said to me… this isn’t a “both sides” issue here… Tom making a song about it is the equivalent of him doing a livestream and simply talking about it… I watched many , many livestreams Saturday… conservatives are angry.. not VIOLENTLY angry though, just angry… because OUR guy was almost killed… then to have lunatics upset that the guy missed? It's not so much as 'right vs left', but right vs wrong, good vs evil. Tom is saying that in the verse 'shoot straight' means talking out the differences without being violent, to be honest and not play the 'I'm right you're wrong' game without actually listening and using proper discourse. Violence is never the answer to solving any disagreements. Except in situations where a person is violent and you have to respond in kind to defend yourself or others. There's many emotional responses going on both sides because of Trump almost assassinated. Many, including Tom are disgusted and angry that this occurred with some being disappointed that the kid failed. Which causes more angst against those who see violence as a quick resolution to their 'problem' which is hyped up by MSM using horrible and dishonest rhetoric because they make decisions based on their emotions, and not using any logic or common sense that wrong actions have consequences. This usually occurs because, quite frankly, some are too lazy to think for themselves. They allow themselves to be driven by those who are feeding them things that are not true, from being gaslighted, being pushed to believe their world view. Hence the term 'sheepalo' or 'sheeple' to describe them. They are considered as 'snowflakes' because when triggered, they act like toddlers throwing a hissyfit because they didn't get their way. If your emotions are not counterbalanced with logic, you're unhinged or another way of saying that you're unbalanced causing a person to react erratically.

I understand the anger and lashing out because I feel the same and every day, not just the conservatives "the right", a lot of people are biting back their rage and bitterness as they are ignored and straight up told you are the enemy and you don't matter. This latest action is just another example of that and you will see it will either be silenced by the main news networks or wrapped up as simply a crazy person and barely investigated. Enough is enough the anger and helplessness needs a voice and people are tired of being silenced, ignored, or belittled and told they are scum. I too wish that people could just come together. We used to be able to...before this huge hate based movement. It's one thing to try and talk down people who are willing to listen, and understand. there was a time that I could discuss issues with the people I know on the left, and it was productive. it isn't any longer. They refuse to listen. They have chosen to be the aggressor, and force our hand. They WANT violence, and we don't...but at what point do we stop drawing another line in the sand and say, "if you cross this next line...".
If someone attacks your family in your home, at what point do you stop trying to talk and realize that this is an issue of your life vs theirs? What good will it do us if we cry out "can't we just come together" when the blood of our loved ones is on the floor (literally or politically)? It should be obvious by now that they want blood, and that being considered, Tom's message is still trying to keep the discussion alive. I do think he's poking the goose on this one, it's a bit aggressive. But considering that innocent blood was shed for nothing more then their own hateful agenda, I'd say he's somewhat of a saint to be able to hold back.
I do believe that if the president had been killed, we would now be facing civil war, and we weren't the ones that would have started it. after being a vet, after spending the bulk of my life outside the military teaching people how to protect themselves and their loved ones in violent situations, I can honestly say I want peace and I want honest and respectful discussion, but I will be prepared for the worst, because that's what they want. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. keep trying to open the discussion, but be ready to convince them that they do NOT have the right to act in violence against us. and us is everyone on the other side of that line they drew, that line of hatred that they built.
