No, I don't. I choose my niche and optimize them for search terms - keywords. Also creating attractive covers etc is important.

In these examples, no, you can't. But you could create the text yourself using different fonts.

Great information! Is it a bad idea to put a page filled with black on the back side of each of our coloring book image pages for a KDP coloring book? Is the paper not thick enough?

A great video as always, Thank you. I see you used mind mapping in this video. Is that something you use regularly to create your books? Do you find it helpful in organizing your thoughts and process?
I don't tend to use them to create my books although may be a good tool for that. I use them particulary for creating video and written content. I find them great for organizing my ideas and putting them in some sort of order. They are good for videos as I can see at a glance the information I need to include, stops me from forgetting it and keep me on track.

Hi. This was very helpful. Thank you. I just had a question. Why did we choose the page for the keynote as 8.65×11 inches and not 8.625×11.25?
Hi. When I say that you'll notice in big white letters on the screen I write 8.625x11.25" It was just an error which I corrected by writing it on the screen.

I switched from Adobe products to Affinity after 20 years of being adobe fan boy. Affinity is a very good software for only 50 bucks.
I agree. I use it all the time. The only thing I really miss is the image trace feature.

Great video as usual Paul. Is there a specific reason why you save out as a png image and then import them into Powerpoint and then onto PDF? Reason I ask, is it is possible (with Artboards) to create the full document and export as PDF all from one place.

There are many ways to create the pdf. Yes, you can do it with artboards. Personally, I just find it's a lot more difficult to do and I find it a pain. The way I show I'm just used to it, it is straightforward, it is fast and causes very few errors. Congratulations on your sales! That's great. 👍
Hello Paul, This may be a silly question but since I am brand new to this I need to ask lol. When making the coloring book pages and leaving a blank piece in between, Does it matter if the design is made using the right or left bleed template? or is this if no blank is left between?
If the pages have bleed then the left and right templates are actually the same so you can actually use either. Hope that answers your question. If not, let me know.
Also please is it possible to create all the coloring pages on inkscape? I learnt about it from you and have learnt how to edit the svg quotes via your affinity tutorials too

Hi Paul, thank you for all the advice you are sharing, so kind of you! I've published a couple of Notebooks and wanted to try the colouring in books but I've got an issue with Affinity Designer and I just can't work it out, so frustrating as I was planning to spend the weekend being very creative. Issue 1. Nothing happens when I use Stroke width, I've tried different svg mandalas, nothing works, the second issue is with the quote, changing the colour of the fill, nothing happens. I followed your every step a number of times and I just can get it to work :( So I'm hoping that maybe you can help, thank you!! :)
It's difficult from a description to know what it is your not doing correctly. Are you definitely using a vector image and not just a .png or .jpg image?

There's something i don'T seem to understand about margins and bleed, you seemed to have left the pattern outside of the pink borders, are the pages cuts at the pink border? Is it because you don't mind that part being cut or is it because it's not cut? I'm so confused lmao! Sorry for the newbie question
No, those are the margins and any written or main content need to be within those margins or they risk partially getting trimmed off. But the pattern needs to go right to the edge of the page where it will be trimmed off a little.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I did use Affinity Designer. If you're referring to Keynote. It's just the process I'm used to. It's fast, I like the fact I can see the pages in the left side panel and I hardly make any errors doing it this way. There are lots of ways to create the pdf and lots of different sofware to use. This is just one way.

Hi Paul.... Great video as usual...... can i ask ? is there any reason why you dont use AFFINITY PUBLISHER for creating the book ? If you run affinity publisher and have Designer and Photo aswell then publisher picks all 3 softwares up and you can swap between designing, photo editiing and book creation seamlessley /? Just wondered if you had tried this and encountered issues.. Cheers Mike (Manchester)
I'm just used to using Keynote or Powerpoint and find it so quick and easy and it works for me that I can't see the advantage of using Publisher. If I was creating a magazine type interior then yes, I'd look into using it. However, if you've gone through the learning curve and it works for you then I'm sure it works very well.

Just a blank page between images is fine.

You need to use images that also have the print on demand license.

Hi Paul, thanks so much for the awesome content - I have a really stupid question (sorry) - I'm following along but at 5:25 you drag the colour image and drop it into Affinity Designer, but what opens-up is an outline of the image rather than the image itself (the image you used has a brown fill, whereas the one you opened in Affinity Designer has no fill but outlines for each curve) - could you please tell me how you did that ? Because when I open an .ai file in Affinity Designer, it's still filled with the colour of the original image. Thank you so much ! :)

@@elainneleal8042 Yep so when you *paste* the picture into your new window, on the *right* hand side of your screen you should find you've got separate panes called colour, swatches, stroke and brushes. If you go to the *colour* pane, you can click on the little icon in the top left to alternate between the full colour version of the image, and a stroked-version of the same image. Hope that helps ! =]
Can I use Canva pro instead of PowerPoint or Keynote? Do you use Keynote for any particular reason?
Yes, you can use Canva Pro. There are many ways to put your interior together. I use Keynote or PowerPoint as it’s something I’ve always done, it’s easy to use and difficult to make errors. And most people have either one of these pieces of software on their computer. But Canva is perfectly fine. I will probably do a video on using Canva to do this as a lot of people are asking.

Hi Paul, Having watched this video I am puzzled by the fact the colouring in image goes beyond the KDP template margins/bleed area? I’m creating a colouring book & have kept my images just inside the margin, am I right to do that?
You keep content that you don’t want trimmed off, like words within the margins. In my example, the pattern goes to the edge beyond the margins because it doesn’t matter if the pattern gets trimmed and it will look odd to have the pattern and then a white border around it.
Thanks for video,but l dont get why we need to change the size of page because of bleeding normally we dont do it also how u can find bleeding size (8.625x11.25).should we add 0.125x0.25 if we make 6x9"?l confuse about bleeding size because of ur first videos not mention about it,using only 17.475x11.250 for templete and interior is 8.5x11 even bleeding

Do you have to have blank pages in between pages?
Usually the reverse side of the pages with the image on are left blank due to potential bleed of colors through the pages.
Hi Paul! I just have a question. I recently published my book in Kdp and when I searched for my book, it reflected on the first page of Amazon UK However, when I used the Amazon USA, it is nowhere to be found. Do you have any idea why is that so? I hope you can enlighten me on this. Thank you x!
The number listed on Amazon UK is smaller. Also when you first publish it takes time for books to be indexed and keywords to be indexed and books get indexed on different sites at different rates.

But please i noticed that the patterns of the coloring page extended outside the pink margin. Won't this cause the kdp previewer to show errors in the file? How do we handle that?
No, becasue the book would be set to 'Bleed'

Hi Paul. I have a Freepik Premium account, but usage rights does does extend to Print on Demand. Do you perhaps know which service (iStock, Shutterstock etc.) are better suited for KDP?
Personally, I get all my images from Creative Fabrica and Vecteezy.

Mobi is for kindle ebooks. You need to be uploading a pdf file.
wouldnt amazon strike you for having duplicate content? i am sure many others are using these quotes and their stylings in their books too!
If you look at the numbers of quotes available and the the numbers of patterns avaialble and then the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of combinations you could create for each page, the chances of someone creating an identical interior, where every quote and pattern matched, would be impossibly small.
