I seriously was explaining my frustration to my friend who has IBS how my perioral dermatitis feels like her IBS diagnosis! I feel validated in my frustrated comparison!

I am 65 with huge skin issues around the mouth and chin and it is very debilitating socially.........I get very isolated and it ends up causing depression on top of what I am already trying to manage with the skin, so thank-you for recognizing the stress and emotional component to this issue....

I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this. It's unfortunately very embarrassing for many who are struggling with different types of mouth rashes. Whether it is perioral dermatitis where even something like angular chellitis, facial rashes in general can cause a ton of anxiety and make you want to stay home

Contact Dermatitis: I had a patch test about a year ago.
I’ve eliminated all of the products.
First my lip area would be on fire then my lips would blow up, then flake and peel a few times a day and this cycle goes on.

I have the same problem, just can’t seem to figure out what causes the flare ups.

Thank you for talking about this! It’s difficult to find much research or information on perioral derm. I have been diagnosed with perioral derm, seborrheic derm, and tinea versicolor. I did not use steroids in any capacity, so there was some other trigger for me. I have eliminated fluoride, and switched all my skincare and makeup to products that are safe for fungal acne, which definitely helps. Oils/essential oils are a no for me, but I’m surprised sulfur wasn’t mentioned as that has been very helpful. I’ve done 2 DUTCH hormone tests, and a stool test. I did not have candida, parasites, or H. Pylori, but I did have other bacteria that was either lower or higher than it should be. My functional medicine practitioner suspected SIBO, but I also wonder about SIFO. I definitely think there is a gut connection, at least in my case. Happy to be a test subject for any research 😅.

I'm 80 yrs old and have had it for 2 yrs, but never had it before. Medication helps to control it but never actually goes away. I have gone to a general practitioner and a dermatologist. It has been very frustrating. I do use makeup daily and try to look my best.

Thank you so much! So informative! ❤ For the first time I got so many options to check and try! I have been listening to many other doctors and videos but there was no real solution but a lot of talking. Dr. Greenberg!!

Unfortunately her practice is closed to new patients and you must live in CA, OR or WA even to be treated by her. However I can share that my practice also works with perioral dermatitis (and we work with clients virtually worldwide) so you can consider that as an option 👍

    Hi 👋
If possible, could you please recommend a Pediatric Dermatologist for my 7 year old Daughter who has for the last 6 months has had perioral dermatitis intermittent flare -ups
She has asthma , seasonal Allergies , eczema and is on steroids daily . (Inhaled , nasal )
I’m at my wits end and feel so helpless , I have taken her mask and am having her use her spacer without Mask . I have also been very careful when using Flonase . I also purchased a milder toothpaste and help her brush her teeth careful not to get any on her face . Also using a mild facial wash CeraVe she pats face dry with paper towels rather then a clean wash cloth careful not to rub .
She has history of having a bad case Herpangina . Once this was resolved she was doing well for almost a year but in the interim, she has had blisters within her mouth just single Radom fever blister once every 2-3 months for a few months. I really didn’t connect all of it but watching your video has really opened my eyes .
Please help I live in San Antonio Texas and a Pediatric Dermatologist referral would be greatly appreciated.

You talked about potential parasites.. what's the treatment for that? Does antibiotics treat it or is it something different?

Can you provide more information about the 8 year old with the dermatitis? I am 26 and have periorbital dermitus around my eyes. Never had it before until about 3 months ago. I also have trouble falling/staying asleep and am fatigued most days. The dermatitis is so itchy around my eyes and flares up weekly. I eat incredibly clean and still cannot find a trigger or find healing. Thank you so much!!!

I learned my preoral dermatitis flares back when I consume dairy gluten and high histamine foods and also this is I think connected to h pillory bacteria

Can the mite type be caused by chemo also? With losing my eyelashes, could that allow the mites to overgrown?? My rash appeared about a month after stopping chemo!

I really can't say, but keep in mine that chemo seriously depletes the body of nutrients and likely impacts the various microbiomes.

Its all in the gut and or hormones, from my research.
Need to work out the health of your gut microbiome, rule out leaky/gut dybosis and or find out what foods are triggering you.
