Wow. As a Murmux owner, this is the video I’ve been waiting for. I hope Dreadbox knows about this video, because you are truly doing the deep dive that this beautiful synth deserves. Hey Dreadbox, get this man a T-shirt or something😂🙏
It’s been so long since we had a video from you I was beginning to despair. But this one ticks all my boxes. The music is lovely. The video is top notch. And the content is fascinating. Thank you so much for producing it. Love those facts and opinions - keep ‘em coming.
I’ve watched many of your synth reviews Tim and they are all exceptional. However in this case, being a Murmux owner, I wanted to express many thanks. I’ve learned a lot from you and this video, watched it in its entirety and enjoyed it thoroughly!
As I'm a long time subscriber and already liked this video halfway in, I'm adding a reaction to increase this video as a possible suggestion in the RUclips algorithm. 😄 Great video, as always, Tim! The Murmux sounds amazing!
Such a great video Tim - thank you for sharing so much detail. I tried the murmux at Synthfest and was really blown away by the sound - it stood out to me amongst so many great synthesizers. I’m also an Osmose owner so the MPE integration you demonstrated makes this synth more desirable.
Fellow Murmux owner here. Agree 100% regarding the desire to see current values. I wish very much that I could easily trigger a dump of all current values so that I could see how a patch was constructed. I don't think it's unrealistic to hope for a web-based patch editor at some point. But yes, I have not regretted this for a moment... especially now that the new firmware supports "all note stop" messages. 😂
Hi Tim, wow you really made it sing. It's got some features that i wasn't aware of - thanks for the deep dive. I'd love one of these. Dreadbox make quality synths. Nice to see this re-released.
Great to see a new video from you Tim and thank you for putting so much thought and effort into it. I’m excited to see a longer video time from you so don’t ever worry about the length! :) Like you, I bought this the moment it was announced because I was hoping and waiting for it so purchased direct without much more information than the name, a pic and the polysynth description. Just did the same with Analogue Solutions TC-5000 but I believe that supporting these smaller manufacturers of such delightful creations is important to keep the innovations coming. So happy to see how authentically in love you are with this instrument. My studio is in the middle of a rework so I’ve not yet had the opportunity to open the box and play with it, but I am beyond excited now after seeing your video and what you’ve done with it. Thank you for doing what you do!
It's good to see you back on RUclips. I have been missing you. Thank you for the more than sufficient review of this synth. I have not been able to get one. Caught me on the wrong foot due to the limited number of units.
Lovely personal view Tim, the guys produced something special ❤ looking forward to what you're going to film next. yeah, cost is a reality for many and not an easy topic.
After been already utterly amazed, you say “we are gonna get on to the most amazing part of this synthesizer…” 😅 Thanks for this video! It is informative and well organized as always. The Murmux sounds just amazing/warm/beautiful/organic/alive. I love the musical examples- I am very glad I already pre-ordered one.
Nice to see another great video from you. A fantastic synthesizer that was given a great presentation. Thank you for your comprehensive, professional work. Please let me note: it's completely fine that you express your opinion here.
Great to have you back on YT. I hope everything that kept you from making videos is alright now. This Murmux Adept is a very clever synth and relatively easy to use given its carefully selected small amount of controls. Its modulation capabilities are staggering. However, speaking from my experience with synthesizers such as the Andromeda, Hydrasynth and Moog One, I doubt if players will use all of its modulation routes at the same time. I suspect its pleasing sound will be the decisive factor to buy it, apart from budget.
The 2nd Delay is in fact digital. If it has an A/D and a D/A, by definition it's digital - but the rest of the synth is Analog, incl the BBD as mentioned. It's an Awesome Synth!! It really has its own sound. And, it's worth every penny. Remember, Analog Synths have more chips and are more difficult to assemble, so No Murmux'ing about the price. : o
Thanks Tim excellent and eloquent explanation of this beautiful but unfortunately out of my price range synth but total respect to Dreadbox for as you said work of art.
A great video is when you don’t realize how long it really is cause you’re immersed into it. Thank you for all the work on this and for all the info. Was just hoping for more sound demos and patches to hear as there are very little amounts of videos on RUclips covering the mermux sounds. Cheers
Amazing sounds and simplicity! I also love the Dreadbox products. Great product quality, yet, certainly on the "expensive" side of their product lineup as you mention.
I can't understand why people are always complaining about DREADBOX's prices but they don't complain about the high prices of MOOG, OBERHEIM and other companies... Thanks for the wonderful video Tim.
Welcome back - kind of as I know you did a little thing a few weeks back. The Murmux - love the simple front panel. Myself nothing currently beats Melbourne Instruments Nina - I know a little more expensive but to my ears the best sounding synthesizer on the market. I'd personally say it's a little expensive for it's specification but it's nice sounding.
@nicogrubert I love the sound of the Nina...still perfer it over the PB12. I like it has that 3rd wavetable Osc with the PB12 does not have. Saying that the PB12 excels in the keyboard area and possiblely in the effects.

I like the way you set mod amount on the super 6. That way you don’t lose your original encoder position. I think they should have added one more knob in the global lfo section to achieve the same thing.
Hey Tim, I used to have the previously alluded to phantom note issue, thankfully fixed. But since the latest firmware, I seem to be getting some unfortunate and very noticable pops when triggering lots of notes with a sequencer. It could be something weird on my end (ground loop!?) but I'm curious if you've noticed anything odd.
Hi. No problems at all, either before or after the firmware update. You should get in touch with your retailer, those problems don't sound good at all.

Price is a no end discussion as I have no money for such a thing, adding that this instrument needs a poly aftertouch keyboard.... it is more than the car I brought. Thanx for your channel!! How do you connect your synths to your computer? I c u use behringer x32r an x touch etc… do you use any outboard pre amps and how do you patch in your effects pedals?
@@jeregarcia_official Hi. I have a dbx pre-amp for my mic but other than that all my synths just go direct into the X32 via a balanced patch bay. Say what you want about Roland digital synths, but at least they have a defined sonic personality. Definitely…. I feel for the majority of the masses, in a blind test or a mixed track wouldn’t tell a $500 synth vs a synth costing $3k. Synth heads are like collectors 🤷🏾
I would kind of agree...for the price I'd expect something that sets it apart. Modulation is great but there are other synths where destinations are nearly unlimited. PB12 although a matrix destinations are basically unlimited and you can modulate the Modulation.
this was a very nice video, went to perfect circuit to check it out, $3000?! That seems a bit rich, a few hundred more and you could own a muse. I guess if the delay was syncable it would be4k
Yeah. That's a lot of money for a somewhat basic analog. I have to ask myself "Will this really add something new to my sonic arsenal?". My answer is no. @@P-S-TFor all intents & purposes there is no further retail market for this synth. If you found one congratulations, you were lucky. When I got mine 2 months ago there were 3 stores left online with stock that I could find. Now it will be interesting to see what the resale market looks like with only 300 of these made.
@@P-S-T My point was responding to Tim's remark in relation to adding features to appeal to a "wider market". Given that they only made 300 units that are sold out or close to it, then the notion to appeal to a wider market is a moot point..
I mean.. $3k for an analog poly isn’t really THAT expensive? So for me it’s like “err, how do I feel about the products in this price range, and how does this feel relative to that?” You’re video MIGHT have biased me a little but.. this KINDA feels like the most “special” to me? It’s like super deluxe chocolate sonically.. and I just sorta find myself feeling about it in a different way.
Very nice run-through, and so far, likely the best exploration I've seen of the synth. If/when my "recently sourced Adept" comes through, I look forward to pairing it up with its siblings (the Murmux v1 and v2).
A real shame that Andertons are selling the synth at a £444 markup on what it was available for direct from Dreadbox and non-UK stores. This is something you fail to mention is the real reason the UK price is so high. This UK price hike is due to Source Distribution, they are the exclusive UK distributor for Dreadbox, and decided to use their monopoly to rip off UK customers. That is why there are still 30+ available in the UK and they are sold out elsewhere...

Andertons still 40 in stock because? They are asking £800 more than what it was sold for on the Dreadbox site.
Shame on them
missed you
Great sounding synth ! Unfortunatly all sold out.
9:10 almost Vangelis Beaubourg (and I mean that as a compliment).
haven't watch the whole video, but have you updated yet to fw 1.1? (only works over USB, not Midi DIN, which threw me first)
He mentioned this and he switches of the noise to demo oscillator 2.
@@GeekGearSynths ah sorry thanks, video was a bit too long for me to watch completely (baby at home)
There is no "wider market" required to appeal to. It reached its market and it’s now sold out.
It’s not sold out yet. Just bought one. If that is what you meant.
@@P-S-TFor all intents & purposes there is no further retail market for this synth. If you found one congratulations, you were lucky. When I got mine 2 months ago there were 3 stores left online with stock that I could find. Now it will be interesting to see what the resale market looks like with only 300 of these made.
There's 11 available from Andertons, so not quite sold out.
@@prometheusuk9845 when I bought mine on thursday there was 20 left. Did you count 1 + 10?
"O.F.F." Those decimal points are bugging the hell out of me.
Tim + Dreadbox. What else ?
Did you hear about the new Artemis ?
Very nice run-through, and so far, likely the best exploration I've seen of the synth. If/when my "recently sourced Adept" comes through, I look forward to pairing it up with its siblings (the Murmux v1 and v2).
How dare you have all three!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤
@@TimShoebridge Yeah, barely got the v2...think I was order 48 out of 50. It is beastly!
Three grand, eh?
I'm good.
Price also reflects market size and the gamble of having to order batches of parts like PCBs and cases up front.
