I order this from Amazon. Got it, checked the batter level, said full, so I figure let me plugin a fan which is why I bought it for. Second I turn the fan on it went up in smoke!!! Got a replacement, same thing happen!!! I know the thing says charge it for 40 hrs before using it, but if the battery is low, wouldn't the fan just not work? rather then blow up?
I must have gotten lucky with the one I got. 5 or 6 years I have been using mine. I use everything on it except for the inverter. Never really needed the inverter. The air compressor is still going strong after countless uses. The booster has no problem starting my 1000 cc sxs on -20c days. However it does struggle to start my v8 pickup. Other then that, I love it. Saved my butt a few times. 10 on 10 from me.
I have one and after 5 year the battery looses charge fast. I bought a replacement 17 mah battery and it took about 15 minutes to replace cost about $55. Mine had not broken anything so far and had been mainly used to jump co- worker's cars or air their tires. I used it more than once to take night fishing and ran led bar lights as an area light.
Thanks for your review. I am going to ask because I want to be sure. I want to use this as a power pack to plug in photography lights like if I am doing a fashion shoot on the beach or something like that. Just continuous light and flashes that keeps going off when I take a picture. .....Do you think it will do that job? Thanks
thanks i was thinking of buying one till i seen this.. i have used my schumaker for two years with no problems.. jump starts powering lights etc tires..
Thank you this was very helpful. I got one of these for christmas for our festival camping trips. Hoping to run some led string lights, charge 2 cell phones and maybe charge a potable speaker. Thats really it but I'd need to to last through friday night and saturday night before we have access to power again.
Yes There is. I think its like a year or something but I would have had to send it to stanley at my cost and not have it for up to two months. The 90 day Lowe's warrenty was expired by one week so no in store exchange. I use it so much I would have had to buy another one to cover me for that time so I just charge it like a car battery with a battery charger on the trickle setting overnight. Simply hook the jumper cables up to the charger + to+ - to - and turn the switch to the ON position. Easy!
? how would u charge it back up if there is no power and can u use a solar panel to charge it up and what if there is no sun then how would u charge it?
Great review Wayne. Thanks for posting. I just ordered this and am now having mixed feelings. I brought it for peace of mind in case my battery runs dead but really also wanted it to fill my tires and reviews on the compressor aren't great so now i'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or send it back before I even open it. You weren't the only one to say all the bells and whistles stopped working on this. Thanks again.
The internal charger failing is a very big deal. Other commenters said they had the same thing. I was just about to buy one, thanks for the review. I will go somewhere else.
A fair review a little bit harsh. I will say that I only use mine for tire air pressure and have jump started a good number of people on the road and never have had a problem with it. Have used mine for probably 6 years and can still pop it on and off of car tires with no problem. I just pulled it out of the trunk today to charge up for the cold weather and I'm not sure that it is charging so I may have to charge it off of a battery charger. But I certainly got my money's worth with it.
I have just purchased this item for my dad we have the Stanley Fatmax Professional Power Station model PPRH7DS how do we power the unit off? The blue screen is still illuminated.
If u take the battery out and charge it a little then put back on it the plug in charger will work. If there us no charge at all it won't be detected and won't charge.I did it works perfect
Thank you for your review, I bought this approximately 4 years ago I only had to use once I put my lamp in it and we had a blackout for maybe three minutes and that was it the damn thing doesn't work I paid $159 for this for tax and it doesn't even work Stanley's disrespectful
thats a pretty good inverter on it if its running 8 amps whats that like 960w i dont think ive seen any other jump boxes anywhere near that like 500w maybe
I own the Black & Decker version and ran into a similar issue with charging. It turned out that my LED charge indicators weren't any good (they were never very accurate) after testing the battery with a multimeter.
Great review and video! I'm looking at this to have in the event I need to jump start my 2002 Ford Ranger 3L V6 and perhaps enjoy the air compressor feature to keep up my tire pressure. Like you, I feel that sometimes when a lot of "added features" are put on a product the main purpose of the unit takes a hit and the product while seeming to be the "last one of these things you'll ever need" turns out not to be the "dream machine" you hoped it would be. I have also looked at the Stanley 1000/500 amp unit but saw one review that said it didn't always work well jump starting a V6 engine. Well, like I said I've got a 3L V6, and I guess I'm gonna have to do more research and figuring out if I want one of these Stanleys or perhaps a unit from another company. I would appreciate any input from anyone to help me with my decision!!!
I wouldn't recommend going down to the 1000/500 for anything size engine. The price isn't that much difference and this one 1400/1000 gives you as Tim the tool man Taylor used to say: 'MORE POWER"... HO HO HO! I just got mine yesterday and am already loving it. Inverter. jump starter (main reason to buy), charger for cell/computer/tools light, compressor to fill tires, use for camping, etc. This is the one to get I believe you would be happy. I do NOT work for Stanley nor receive any compensation for any review/suggestions.
Yea generators advertise "Peak Watt Output" not continued use output. It's like buying a safe go bigger than you need beacuse you will always find other stuff to add on.
Hi Wayne I bought the same as yours, but I do not have cable for charging at home. It would be great if you could advise me what cable do I need to buy him or power adapter so I could charge it at home? in our country outlet issue 220 In the store they told me that I should buy a power supply unit for 120 volts 60hz 500w
I have one and everything works.it powers up to 500 wats, this guy should have read the book .as for the air hose put a new end on it .keep it plugged in and it workers fine.
from experience the coffee maker, mr. coffee takes about 1100 watts. a toaster is 1500. it will run a 750 watt microwave but barely. remember they are using watts. not amps for their ads. we got our info using a gas generator.rated 1000 watts. real output was 850-900. we should have bought the 2000 i..now i just got the stanley 500 watt power station. as long as it will run my c-pap for a couple of days, if needed that's all i need.
Wayne Winton When you say you "hook it up to a regular battery charger," the battery charger that is plugged into the wall has + and - clamps as well as the power station.....so you connect one red clamp to another red clamp and the same for negative side and then plug in the car battery charger (to the wall??) Sorry, i am quite a novice with this stuff. I am trying to charge an old power station that will not charge at all through the normal dc connection
Yes. All it is is a battery with cables so just like you said red to red, black to black and yes plug into your regular wall battery charging unit. Charge on lowest slowest setting.
Wayne Winton If the battery charger is turned on, but the power station is turned off, will it charge when connected to the battery charger? Does the power station have to be turned on as well in order to charge it this way? Thanks again for any advice you could give in regards to this. - Anthony
I need a portable power source to take camping so I can hook up a sound system that will use around 200-500 watts for around 3-5 hours, is there anything out there that you can recommend for me??
i just got one, it came with a 10a 125v extension short cord, it says to use a house hold extension cord to charge it first time thou for 40 hours, does it matter can i just use the cord that came with it. also it came partially charged , but still wants me to charge it for 40 hours first time, is that correct?
ive been charging it for like one hour and all indicater lights are on already, but it says to charge first time for 40 hours, then after every use or every 30 days. but how long do i charge after 30 days..just till lights turn on.?
USB port is great for charging cell phones and tablets. Almost every charger for smart phones is converted to USB charging. I'm sorry your experance was different but with proper care mine is still working great.

i bought one from menards and used it twice in a year then its not working to pump my tires anymore. Pure JUNK! Don’t get fooled by ads reviews. Very expensive and made from cheap materials.
forgot to mention, Nice Video. and the broken parts are crap. you should never have to mickey mouse a new product as long as you can send it in. circumstances are you can't always send it in though. it is made in china. what's new?
I have this same model since 2011 and it works perfectly. The air compressor has worked perfect for 13 years. I love this thing!
I have one of these and use it when I lose power during a storm. It has saved me numerous times. I love it!!!
The air inflator is one of the best working features on the unit I used mine many times and it never came even close to breaking off.
I order this from Amazon. Got it, checked the batter level, said full, so I figure let me plugin a fan which is why I bought it for. Second I turn the fan on it went up in smoke!!! Ted May Your Shumker able to charge while driving Vi the cig lighter nd is two electric outlets? If so got. li ok so I cn buy one?
Wayne Winton
Can you use a 12v male to 12v male cig lighter adaptor too charge it in your car?
Thank you this was very helpful. I got one of these for christmas for our festival camping trips. Hoping to run some led string lights, charge 2 cell phones and maybe charge a potable speaker. How do you like it
Thanks for the video! Saved me from buying a new battery.....I had a bad ac to dc inverter too! Thanks for the heads up!
I charge overnight but it dose not have to be every time you use. You can get about 5 jumps depending on size of vehicle.
Yes There is. I think its like a year or something but I would have had to send it to stanley at my cost and not have it for up to two months. It was purchased brand new. As for where it was made who knows with missleading lables like "assembled in the USA" I could not tell you.
I have had mine for a year have had no problems whatsoever this thing is great .15 jumps out of one charge
Im still using mine as well. Just the convenint features quit.
I have one, which was used to jump start my car. The other accessories are not necessary unless you live off grid.
Howcome you did not take it back for a replacement when the air hose connection broke?
Great review Wayne. Thanks for posting. I just ordered this and am now having mixed feelings. It is what it is. I still charge it with a battery charger and jump cars with it to this day. Not a total loss
Great tip about charging with a battery charger

How much time it needs to fully charge it
thats a pretty good inverter on it if its running 8 amps whats that like 960w i dont think ive seen any other jump boxes anywhere near that like 500w maybe
Yes the first charge is the most important. 100% charge for two days the first time. After that I charge over night when it need to be topped off.
So I have to charge it even though I bought it new?
can u plug a 32inches HDTV and a caffe machine for camping session .... does it need to be connected when use it as compressor
I own the Black & Decker version and ran into a similar issue with charging. It turned out that my LED charge indicators weren't any good (they were never very accurate) after testing the battery with a multimeter.
Thanks for posting this video. My 110 charging port quit to, so now I know how to charge mine again!
Isn't their a warranty? I thought Stanley would replace broken products? I just got mine today, have yet to try it out though.

Ok. Yeah, I guess if you need it and can still charge it, no point in sending it back. Great vid by the way.
have one that was given to me. Worked well a couple time, but now the compressor stop working. any clues to why.
Any cord will work as long as it fits in the socket.
Yea generators advertise "Peak Watt Output" not continued use output. It's like buying a safe go bigger than you need beacuse you will always find other stuff to add on.

I have one just like yours but I can’t make it to work
do you have a recommendation for a better one ?
It is the same exact unit that Black & Decker made that I just bought.
would it charge a daul 15 inch portable bluetooth speaker that holds a 12vt battery in side
I have one and everything works.it powers up to 500 wats, this guy should have read the book .as for the air hose put a new end on it .keep it plugged in and it workers fine.
where did you find 900 watt inverter? it says 500 watts when i looked it up
Lowes
good looking out..

Is this a product that can be used to plug in and power any of your electric devices for off the grid living?
+Theoretical Theist It can temporily power some small electronic devices
Good impartial review. Thanks

I have no idea about 220 outlets. I would just use a 12 v comverter and battery charger as I do mor my unit

Anthony Valente's Jazz Channel Power station must be in the ON position to charge
I need a portable power source to take camping so I can hook up a sound system that will use around 200-500 watts for around 3-5 hours, is there anything out there that you can recommend for me??
Chris DiGi hook it up to your car
i just got one, it came with a 10a 125v extension short cord, it says to use a house hold extension cord to charge it first time thou for 40 hours, does it matter can i just use the cord that came with it. also it came partially charged , but still wants me to charge it for 40 hours first time, is that correct?

Try the DieHard Platinum Portable Power 1150
can this power a PS4? I have a portable monitor that has its own power supply, but i was wondering if this would power a PS4?
Mostlikely not for long
Wayne Winton how long do you think it will? 1 to 3 hours?
doesn't matter because this is most likely using a modified sine wave which can mess up anything with an electrical circuit.
Is this an older model?
I bought one used....how do I charge the thing??
Plug it in. If it's jumping to the green light really fast or not coming on at all then it's battery is dead and you'll need to replace it
Can you use it as a car battery charger
will it jump and also slow charge deep cycle batteries?
+bob woerner it wont charge them but it shoud jump them if there are running a motor of some kind.
Do you have any recommendations for other similar things that are a bit more reliable?
I don't. I'm cheap and still have this one!
+Wayne Winton mine is fully charged. but inverter not lighting up or work. what can i do
whats up w/ usb port ? i got a B and D one ,junk after 2 yrs. also has a usb port - why ?
USB port is great for charging cell phones and tablets. Almost every charger for smart phones is converted to USB charging. I'm sorry your experance was different but with proper care mine is still working great.
well,that makes sense,thanks.
I also have a stanley professional power station and it will not charge when plugged into my wall outlet.. I am just dumbfounded and disappointed
How do you charge it
Thanks, Hope it helps.
Is it lithium ion
No where for banana plug test leads. That's all I wanted to know
Hi Wayne, I was considering buying the Stanley FatMax, and came upon your review. For over $100 it doesn't seem worth it to me.
I am looking for a power station for my two teenage sons who just got their first cars. Of course as their mom I am freaking out, and trying to find tools and items that could help them in an emergency.
Most Important for me is the battery charger, and pump for their tires. However, I did like how this would power small appliances in the event of a power outage and/or when camping.
The one thing this doesn't have, but I find important, is hazard visibility, like a strobe light and/or blinking feature. Also important, though I could buy separately, is a strong and powerful light to see what your doing. The one on the bottom of this one didn't seem very significant.
So Wayne, what power station would you recommend? Also, I am open to any other items you have reviewed that you think would be a good idea,
Thank you so much in advance for helping a mother keep her boys safe ?
I would not purchase this unit again. I am just to cheep to buy a new one untill I feel I have got my moneys worth out of it. I don't use the bells and whisels on it I only use it as a jump starter aid. I would recomend you visit the link posted below (or Google best jump starter review) and look at the information listed there to make your desition.

Wayne Winton Thank you. I'll look for a better model that way.
Wayne Winton Thanks for the link Wayne, I just got a Schumacher XP2260, but haven't cracked it open yet, I have the Stanly in my Amazon shopping cart ready to pull the trigger. I want one mostly for portable power, camping/power outages. Is something designed for a jump starter still the best way to go. One of the reviews I read said the Schumacher XP2260 would only power a few lights/small appliances for a couple hours where the Stanly would at least go thru the night. I am confused on which spec I need to pay closest attention to for my needs. Thanks
pylon4 I personally would not buy this unit again. I have no experence with any other brands.
Does this have a fuse?
Mine quit charging!
so did mine from 110 plug in. however you can still charge it up with a 12 v regular battery charger
How do you charge with a battery charger
can you charge it from a car without a inverter
Yes you can. It just takes longer but it dose work.
Damn man, sounds like it completely went to pot on you. Did you send it back for service?
Thanks for the review :)
How long does it take to charge?
couple hrs. I leave it on over night
+Wayne Winton nice I just purchased one.
Can you hook it to the car battery and it charge the unit up
don't thing that would work
Schumacher XP2260 1200 Peak Amp Instant Portable Power Source
can it power speakers?
+Pedro Colin Possibly depanding on what size
helpful thanks
Great content let's stay connected new subbie here ❤
I have the standard one the pump on mine is junk
make a connector...2 110 ac plugs to one outlet! grinder wnt die no more!!???
Voltage and I do not get along that well. Lets just say we have had our diffrenices. Im shure your solution works but the 1500 watt power inverter in the work van keeps the grinder going good. Thanks though.

Stanley stuff is junk, I'm not surprised it broke
Then Don't Buy one.
These are junk! I received two of these as gifts and both quit after a few uses. Stanley warranty sucks.

Sounds like a piece of crap.
