Great upload, it's awesome to hear Stan Rogers live. Wish I could've experienced it during his lifetime. Very interesting to hear Northwest Passage, The Idiot, and House of Orange live.
Thank you for posting this. I saw Stan twice: at the Mariposa Folk Festival and the Winnipeg Folk Festival. His legacy is enjoying a renaissance, with groups such as the Longest Johns and The Dreadnoughts covering his songs. A quick search here on RUclips will give fans reasons to smile: versions of The Mary Ellen Carter, Northwest Passage, Rolling Down to Old Maui and others by these two fine groups. The Dreadnoughts "Dear Old Stan" is a must-listen.
Thank you for the comment. Thank you for letting me know that Stan is not being forgotten as I live in the US. I just had on the Five Days in July CD while on the exercise bike, of Blue Rodeo. We follow so many Canadian artist.
your welcome. I have no financial doings with this, but Jim Cain of New York, wrote a novel, Rise Again, a fictional book about the Mary Ellen Carter as Ariel was fine with this. Its on Amazon, 500 page plus great novel. Garnet Rogers has a book about Stan and Garnet's travels, 700 pages. Mike
This starts off talking about a man who was saved by the Mary Ellen Carter song and that same person is there live that night. He must of been heartbroken when he didn't sing that song and his dying wish was likely to hear it live.Thankfully the Stan Rogers Concert Audio Philadelphia, PA May 17, he says the guy is in the audience before singing the song, so he likely got to hear it live!!!!
This is part 1 of a two part set. They do play Mary Ellen Carted in the second part. Stan even acknowledges the fellow in the audience. ruclips.net/video/rKL5_yHXiI0/видео.html
I don't think so as the man being talked about was at this concert and setlist.fm or setlist.com has the play list correct. Its possible something was edited out between the man intro and the start of the concert. But I can understand why the thought.

29:48 Huge Northwest Passage live version! Love the raw quality of this recording!
I wish I could have seen him. I was very fortunate to get to see Garnet Rogers in Ann Arbor last year. Amazing voice. The whole family it seems.
Garnet is at Passim in MA in December, live stream.
We were at this show. The only time I ever saw Stan live and the first time we saw Bill Morrisey.

Thank you again for your comment, as I have some CDs to look into with the groups you mention. WOW, just great, thank you, Mike
A concert that I always regretted missing. This is a great gift, thanks!

40:45 Excellent rendition of the House of Orange. Still a moving song even though the quarrel has subsided for quite some time now.
And performed in BOSTON, too. Have always loved that tune and all it means.
Thank you for posting this. The voice of Stan Rogers is unmistakable and exceedingly likeable.

They did do it live that night (I was there). See the video for the other half of the concert. ruclips.net/video/rKL5_yHXiI0/видео.html
BTW: that was the Marine Electric. The story had been in the Boston Globe a few months before. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Marine_Electric

I love the tape but wonder if the concert hasn't been switched with a different concert.
