This is the first of a series of tutorials designed for unlimited saga. Since the game doesn't really have a manual, I've decided to upload this for newer players looking to understand the game.

12 years later, and this guide is still useful.
Thanks for the tutorials man, it really helped me and I was able to complete Laura's quest. Thanks for making me experience this wonderful game. Maybe I will try Ventus or Ruby's quest next

@@moisescorral8297 True. Where you upto at the moment. im doing a play through laura since she's the easiest to learn from. I started on ventus but it really wasn't intuitive to begin with. had no idea about magic or anything

To be more precise, for Laura, out of two final boss, one of them is HARD!
For Judy, it takes forever until you get a Magic shop for her. X D
While having hard quests, Judy one one of the easier,
if not the easiest final boss.
For Myth, you get access to you-know-who withouth the Gauntlet.
It's easy for Kurt to get high level techs because of the Gauntlet battles.
Armic have easy to high level materials and Recycle.
This game looks so brilliantly done and it seems to have epic storylines... but the gameplay is just boring, and needing to learn tutorials for one game is a bit ..strange, to say the least... none the less, I confess this game captivates me, and I thank you for these tutorials....
By the way... I had stopped playing this game for years after I bought it, and now I know it was because I chose Armic -.-

Thanks for these I grabbed this game for $5 just cuz it's a jrpg I don't own lmao image my shock when I started playing. Thanks for this again. I might actually play it bc of you.
This is a nice guide wish I watched it, before but its cool! This game and Minstrel Song have a very specific quality most console gamers (like myself at first) do not understand: This is a tabletop/pen and paper style RPG using SaGa mechanics and themes but instead of rolling a d20 for your actions (battle AND exploring) you spin the reel! After I played D&D and White Wolf games this game became one of my favorite PS2 games!
Not me picking up armin as my first go and never ever being able to get a hang on what was going on
As far as I remember you can only trade things that the other don't have. X D
That being said, getting rare stuff is not only easier in Armic's quest thanks to trading,
it's also mandatory.
wowowow fml the first guy i started was mythe. I'm on the final boss and completely shunted the game of how impossible it was @__@ watching all your videos, thank you!

I bought this game from when it came out, I always wanted to love it, but I think the gameplay is beyond hardcore. Even if you learn all this stuff by heart.

Armic has a lot disadvantage. But he got magician with powerful spell from the start.
Love this game never beat it always got stuck but was still very fun dont understand the hate
Currently doing a run through of the entire series, only had prior experience with Frontier 1. Done with Legend 1, 2 and 3, Romancing Saga 1 & 2 aswell as Frontier and now moving on to Unlimited which has an interesting reputation so been quite curious about it for awhile. Its Kawazu's favorite entry despite being reviled by a lot of people, got to be something there.
You may have just saved me a descent into hell. I was going to pick Armic becuase he had the most unique design (I always prefer a non human protagonist, find them abit boring since I play as one irl every day) but geez, his campaign sounds like abit of a mess or atleast more something to mix things up for people who have already played the others.

@@BiggysLetsPlays Appreciate that. Do you know when it would be safe to start doing sidequests as Laura? I heard they're best saved until you get all your party members in order since you can only do a very limited amount of grinding on characters that aren't Ventus and could end up in a situation where its hard or might not be possible to progress.
@@DrChaos-jb3sp you are correct that you should always start farming after getting all party members, but more importantly there is a point of no return in her quest. Which is when you hand over all of your gear to Basil. Make sure you save beforehand, because Laura has two different endings depending on whether if you defeat the next boss or not!

Oh no, not this game! Me and my best mate played this as Mythe first thing and we locked ourselves into this one side quest with Mythe only and we had to start over! Luckily, we looked up GameFAQs and the game made so much more sense, and we eventually beat all 7 characters quests. All we got was the final credits and... thats it, we were expecting a final part of the game with all 7 main characters and a showdown against chaos, but NOPE, none of that happened. The very end is anti climatic, but oh well, this is why we stick to final fantasy 1-10 and 12.
Don't worry, I'm just taking a small haitus to do life's little things. I'll be sure to finish it. promise!
Nice tutorial. I haven't gotten anywhere in this game because I can't understand the damn ruleset. It's a shame coz I love Minstrel Song.
Oh yeah, I forgot about armic's trades. You can indefinitely farm for some really rare items by mass Producing damascus and trading them for Dragonscale or glossed silk stuff. but that's a little advanced for this tutorial, don't you think?

@kuwaizair Trust me, these tutorials are probably the closest thing you can get to a manual for this game. otherwise, check gamefaqs.com and read joewoof's beginner FAQ for more of the basics.
I accidenty bought one with no booklet. is there some place that scanned them to print out? I'm pretty painfully confused as it's mechanics are so new to me

You provide a better manual. And of course the harem has one of the rare playable old ladies in an RPG.
@imbiggy good. I had 2 windows open on ebay, and one closed/loaded my paypal. I didn't pay attintion and got the copy that had no booklet.. I failed so hard first and am now playing Laura's quest, but i'm feeling a bit scatter brained. I assume you can't be "brainless" with this game, like how you can't be lazy with some others. should I bother buying the remake of romancing saga? I never did complete both saga frontiers.(omg running out of skill points in a terrible spot)
I really appreciate this video (or this series of videos), because this game has been sitting on my shelf for like 9 or so years, and I didn't want to believe that it's a bad game like everyone says. It seems more misunderstood than anything.
The main reason I'm commenting though is to say that the way your audio is mixed is really sort of not so great. Your voice sounds muffled and the background music is really loud and drowns out your voice. I haven't watched the other videos yet, but I hope this is fixed in them.
Once more, great video, audio issues aside.
i cheated on this game , so i could never lose and still couldnt get pass, because everytime i attacked the points didnt pop up, thats why! incredible

I tried to like this game, i really did, but i think i wont spend another 5 hour trying to figure out "why this time my atks combo-ed and why the same atks didnt combo last fight".
I just think a game of this complexity shud have a proper tutorial, instead of "hi, this is the game, now go get frustated trying to figure out what every lil thing does and how to use it correctly, all by urself"
lastly, this game is too random for my taste. Like, u need to be lucky to combo, u need to be lucky to get good color reel, and when u do, u have to be lucky to hit them right. Too much luck involved, not so much skills from the player
