August 2021
Update: Shortly after posting this video, it was brought to my attention that the body of Tatum Morell was discovered by hikers on August 21st in a remote location inside the Beartooth Mountains in an area searched numerous times by S&R. They believe she had been caught in a landslide while climbing Whitetail Peak. My thoughts go out to those affected by this tragedy.
If there's anything to be learned from this, always bring a hiking buddy on these types of hikes. Stay tuned for some new material in the near future.
@Chris Paul I've been watching the story of Gabby. It is so suspicious that her fiance drove her van and arrived home without her. And the fact that he lawyered up proves that he has no respect for Gabby or her family. Please pray for Gabby 🙏
I believe gabby case fiction, for what reason is the question ?
So many missing this year...
This is misleading Rusty. You said hikers found Tatum August 21 in an area searched numerous times by s&r. That's b.s Rusty. She talked to her mother July 2nd at 8 pm they believe she died the next day from the rockslide while climbing. So her body was lying amongst the rockslide from July 3rd until she was discovered August 21. Love your shows Rusty just couldn't understand why you would say she was found August 21 in an area searched numerous times by searchers?
@@Wildhorse66 You can't pray for someone after they die.
They break earthly ties and it's heaven or hell. Most humans enter hell even good and kind ones but they were too stubborn to repent of sin and commit to Jesus while alive. You must walk with Him daily and obey and read his Word and pray, in order for your name to be entered in the Lamb's book of Life (Jesus book) for eternal life in heaven. You must be born again (a real born again believer not a fake one as many are and not into religion). Jesus tells all this in scripture. ( From me an oldie in another country).
Rusty you definitely have one of the best RUclips channels period who else agrees?
On this subject anyway

Absolutely

Tatum Morell’s body was found this week by 2 hikers buried under a rock fall. At least one family has answers. Thanks Rusty.
Appreciate the update. Thanks
thanks for sharing this.
I did not hear she was found. Sad outcome.
Sad to hear this but I am happy at least the family knows what happened now. Many blessings.

Maybe it's not too late & we can bring it back...
And I miss the old music and the drawl! But he's still our beloved Rusty!
@Jo Thompson: Rusty has been getting mocked on other channels. It is too bad that people seem to choose a "favorite" and diss others.

There’s many more missing native girls in Montana unfortunately. For some reason it doesn’t get much attention 😢
Missing people are the worst. That doesn't heal.
Over 700 indigenous females missing in this area. I think something more sinister is going on
Hollywood made the movie Wind River in 2017 about American Indian women. But, that's hardly enough. It's unfortunate that the news services and national news channels don't pick up the local stories about this situation.

Glad to say (or hate to say) #9 has been found. Tatum Morrel was found by hikers buried under a apparent rock slide, 8/24. Hikers saw some stray pieces of equipment and decided to look around when they saw just a boot sticking out of the rock. Just goes to show anything can happen in the back country.
RIP i wonder if others have met the same fate with a rock slide--makes one wonder.
I’m so sad she died but it’s good for her family and friends to know what happened to her. Again , people, never hike alone . Tough for introverts like me but so much safer.
So was her GPS device damaged in that rock slide? I find it odd that they couldn't get her location when it was verified she had one.
@@Standing.W.Israel It probably wasn't set to leave "breadcrumbs". Her Garmin InReach had that capability but activating it draws a lot more battery so she probably had it turned off. Many people only turn on sat messaging occasionally. We go to the backcountry to get away, and we don't always want to be tracked continually. It takes very little power to fix you location from GPS & GLONNUS constellations but much more power to broadcast. She probably died before she could attempt to send a message.
@@berthaford2152 I agree. I guess you can eventually live a regular life if someone close to you just disappeared one day but I rather know what happened. Now her family and friends can bury her in peace.
When I eventually disappear on the Pacific Crest Trail, I would be honored if Rusty West tells my sordid, cautionary tale.

Poor little Serenity Dennard was put into 14 different foster care homes by the time she turned 8 years old. She was adopted at the age of 9. Precious and pretty little Serenity had issues with running away from her adoptive parents’ home in Sturgis, which was the basis for the treatment she was receiving at the children’s home, the Rapid City Journal reported. Around 10:45 a.m. on February 3, 2019, Serenity Dennard left the children’s home gym while the two employees watching her were distracted by another child, the Rapid City Journal reported. Two of the facility’s employees were later fired after Serenity’s disappearance, the Argus Leader reported. Serenity evidently left the facility after getting into a disagreement with one of the staff members at the Black Hills Children’s Home in Rapid City. No one helped that child at all. My heart goes out to this dear and sweet child.
Yes, that one really tugged at my heart strings.
@@reesedaniel5835 - She really needed love and someone to call and a phone on her to reach someone who loved her!! That poor child was all alone in the world. That facility was a disaster for her. She should never have been there. She needed a trusted relative who would have come to get her no matter what. She did not have that trusted relative nor anyone at all.

EVEN with the marked trails, it is so easy to get lost. GPS devices, guns, flares.
Whistles. Raptor whistles. Flashlights.
Air horn ,tazer ,lighter, night vision, motherload of bullets and big 🔫
There are personal locator beacons, but people almost never think of them.
@@janblackkat7607 Guns, Bazooka's , hand grenade, friends, xtra socks/underwears and a healthy meal.
So true. Just one “I need to “use the bathroom,” let me go a few steps further to be sure no one on the trail sees, might as well change my socks while I’m in my pack…and suddenly the forest looks the same in every direction. It is that easy.
Can't stress it enough make sure you stay on the designated trails. Because even the professionals can have a bad day.
I keep tellin em
Can't agree more. I've been hiking alone for years. Just got back from hiking/camping in the Black Hills NF. There are areas where it's wide open and there are areas where the undergrowth is thick as hell. There's absolutely no reason to venture off into the thick brush. You could get 20 feet into that to do your business and not see the trail. Those that have a poor sense of direction should never leave the trail.

PS. I absolutely LOVE your channel. I LOVE your voice. I appreciate your authenticity. And, you have a wonderful site. With integrity & prestige & heart, my friend.
One of the often overlooked benefit's of having a hiking partner is a different point of view that could save your life. Alone you just have yourself but with a partner they may say I don't think we should go there etc... can make a difference and probably has.
The Aliens got that guy in Roswell😟
As a hiker, I think it would be neat if you showed the topo maps and satellite imagery around where people went missing. That helps to give an idea of the terrain and general area. The photos you show are also great.
Would love that added in
He does often, not sure why he didn't here. I think it might be on the ones he only focuses on one person, rather than a list.

These park disappearances it's either a conspiracy or something else we don't know about either way scary as hell
In parks with forests or dense vegetation it is easy to get lost or stray from a trail. In the deserts, it is easy to get disoriented if the terrain is similar.

@@sp3nds Yeah me too. I'd probably have liked it better if I'd gone with more experienced people. I remember being so ravenously hungry all the time, even after we ate what we brought. I ate a whole pot full of oatmeal and was still hungry. Of course we were hiking 8-10 hours a day carrying 40 pound packs. We also ran out of water and had to drink stream water with iodine in it.
@@sp3nds That's the only thing I don't like about videos like the 411 series. It gives a false impression that going in the woods almost guarantees Bigfoot or aliens will get you. A lot of people go missing in parks but consider this- every year in the US between 600,000 and 1,000,000 people go missing! That's the entire population of Minneapolis/St Paul vanishing every single year! If you venture into the woods, yeah, be careful. Take a GPS and compass and a map and know how to use them. Take a survival kit and if you can a firearm. Don't go alone if you can help it but if you do take extra precautions.
So excited to see another one of your videos!!!
I cannot understand why you would go hiking on your own. Especially if you have no way of getting help if anything happens. i think they are crazy.
I'm older "60" and disabled now wish I could still get out there just for the peace, beauty and sanity. Something about being out alone. People never shut up and are always ruining everything, to much clutter in their brains. I used to hike/hunt solitary and never though anything of it. But I planned ahead with maps equipment. Never was lost but had been disoriented a number of times even with friends, common sense and knowledge of the area solves that.
There are wild animals out there most will leave you alone, but it only takes one that decides otherwise. Much like the city. Still travel with horn, spray, firearm, phone , radio, even locator device. Minimal gear knife, fire, light, cordage. I miss it and wouldn't hesitate except for my health. Being stuck in town drives me crazy like everyone else is already.
Thanks Rusty! It's just heartbreaking some of these stories. I sure would like to know the truth behind each and everyone of the many missing people
