It's great that you've added a slideshow of photos of the disappeared at the end. We need to remember them and to understand and respect the power of nature. I've been watching your videos for years and continue to enjoy your perspective on the world around us. Take care Rusty!
Thank you Rusty... I have a sad update on Tommy Howe... he was found in the Desplaines River which runs through the forest preserve. The autopsy showed drowning as cause of death. More tests are being done to determine if there are any other factors.
Been a fan for years, Rusty.
You're videos helped me with
a bout of insomnia a couple years ago.
I'm happy to see you're still at it.

Hello Rusty. You're like an old friend who stops by unexpectedly and joins me in a cup of coffee and chitchat. Always good to see your videos.☕
That's nice & poignant especially a friend one did not expect to see & one that has not been seen in a long time
@@mijiyoon5575 And one that doesn't use you for something, then stab you in the back and ghost you.....😁

Wish he would stop by more often. Like once a month.

What a nice surprise, it;s Rusty. Thank you being such a caring soul, to keep alive the memories of these poor lost people. Your channel is my favorite for the missing. The more the word gets out on those that are lost, the better. May God bless you Rusty.
Rusty, when I first found your RUclips channel, I thought you were riding Dave Paulides coat tails. I now understand that you are nothing like him. You do your own research and report only the facts as you find them. Much respect and appreciation to you for honestly providing just the facts of the entire accounts. Thank you for your honest reporting.
Paulides often leaves out very critical details to make things sound more interesting or mysterious, Rusty never does that. I really love this channel for that reason!

Am I dreaming? Lol
Is Rusty really doing a national parks missing persons?... well it's about time! Lol
Welcome back!
Thanks for doing what you do Rusty. My cousin went missing in Drayton Vally Alberta a year and a half ago with no answers to any questions. It’s so hard on the family.
very sorry to hear that mate.
My condolences, I hope you'll find some answers
So very sorry.
No answers I think would be the worse thing. My prayers are with you and your family.

Wonderful to hear your voice. Stay safe, everyone. These are too haunting.

even though the former SEAL was in his 70's is the most perplexing missing person..must have been a horrific event to take him away..

You obviously don't have a missing family member. I hope and pray you never have that experience. Your attitude would change quickly. Think about it.
Wonder who David Paulides stole it off in the first place ?

So happy to hear your voice Rusty! Excellent post as always.

A very welcome back, Rusty, glad to hear from you.
It is always sad watching the photos of these people so happy and yet they are missing. I can’t even imagine how terrible their family must be not knowing what happened to them. It is sad a tragic. I hope and pray they are found alive and well. Hoping so.

"Stealing"? Don't you think the more people who are aware of these missing people, the better chances are they'll be found? The fact these people are missing is not "copyrighted", is it? Not everybody watches Dave Paulides' channel. We should be applauding every person reporting these missing persons...the national "news" media certainly is not reporting about them, more than a few days, anyway. I wonder why that is?
Great to see you covering these really baffling missing folks again friend. God Bless to you and all the families of the missing.
I was waiting for Rusty to say, "Hello folks." But, he didn't.

Fantastic to hear your voice Rusty. Been quite a week or I'd had listened sooner. Say a prayer for my cat. He's in hospital. Prayers that answers will come for all the missing everywhere. Last guy in wreck could have suffered an andrenaline attack then fell somewhere hidden or something.
Rusty and All,
Regarding Tommy Howe the last person missing from I94 near Chicago Ill in the Old School Forest Preserve..His body was found in the river in the preserve..Most likely it was a drowning.Foul play has not been ruled out yet.My guess would be after accident ( air bags deployed) he possibly had a head injury and roamed into park...Somehow he ended up in the river.I hope no one was responsible or had something to do with it.
Sad case, to young..My heart goes out to his family and parents.

To me, the disappearances are not the most baffling part. What's baffling is how a 74-year old guy decides that it is a good idea to do a 3-day hike alone in the middle of the Alaska mountains, where a million things can go wrong. You can get lost, you can have an accident, you can be attacked by a huge grizzly bear, or by a pack of wolves, or you can fall into a freezing river, and you don't have cell phone signal or a way to get out of there or ever be found in the middle of the huge wilderness. And yet, year after year, people decide to do these solo expeditions, with predictable results.
I don’t understand this either. Even at my age of 40 and good health, I wouldn’t even think of taking on a lone adventure like this.
*shrug*, odds are far greater that you can slip in the bathtub, get hit crossing the street, get in a car accident yet we all still do those things. Better to live life than cower in fear and do nothing just in case.
Guys like him would rather live life on the edge and when you
get to an advanced age you think " well I am gonna die anyway
fairly soon so I can take risks and not feel so bad about it"
Some people know that there's something wrong with them and would rather go out on their own terms then waste away in a home,,,
Excellent point!
Welcome back to our favorite truck driving storyteller!!!
Yay you're back!!! Can you do those creepy forest stories again soon?
Portals to another dimension....parallel universes, tie warps???
I believe any of these things are possible, especially in our national parks.
We only have one national park in our state and it has always given me a creepy vibe.
No Sunny, it is none of that silly nonsense. People walk into the wilderness and it is easy to find yourself in major trouble with one wrong turn. Things can go sideways very quickly and suddenly there's no way out.
@@lturner6256 OK.
@@lturner6256 yes things can go sideways real fast,,,,like the couple who took that Palm Springs Tram up the mountain and found themselves suddenly lost,,thank

Tommy Howe (#1) was found deceased , possibly due to drowning. 😭😭
When did that happen? Details, please. It kinda sounds like he was on something. Bizarre behavior.
@@haileyfields5190 it was 11 AM, he wasn’t on anything, he was in shock and wandered and fell in the river
@@sbrooke210 I'm sure you're right. I don't know his personal history. But I have a relative who is on drugs, and time of day is meaningless.
The young man was found in the river of the Preserve that he wandered into after car accident on I 94..Walking across a major highway alone is dangerous for all.I believe he must of had a head injury ( airbags were deployed in his car) and was disoriented..After wandering into the nature preserve just off the highway he inadvertently stumbled into a river that was strong and fairly dangerous.Although it doesn't rule out foul play by a stranger that may of taken advantage of him in a vulnerable state. It was near some tougher suburbs of Chicago..
My condolences to family and parents.Very sad at such a young age.My heart goes out to them.

Can't help but think our high ranking Park Officials know exactly what's happening to our people. Like everything else these days, they're keeping it secret.
Thank you. Great to hear your voice.

“If you trust the government, you obviously failed history class.” -Senator John Kennedy
What reason would they have for keeping secret about what's happening to these people?
Apart of me wants to believe they know, but even a few of the park officials come up missing sometimes.
or maybe most of them are not "highly trained" lol btw apparently they're hiring!
@@stevewixom9311 put yourself in their shoes! I don't think I they know for sure so they don't want to be the first to blow the whistle! It would definitely turn these parks upside down! Depending what was found out I imagine it would kill a lot of these parks. Budget cuts would run off help etc! But I don't think for a second these folks go to their job everyday and not think of these missing! Cause if it was me it would probably consume me!
About time
Yes I agree with the old friend remark, I love your narration, voice and demeanor, never stop
Thank you Rusty for keeping us informed of people disappearing. I pray these people will be found
I love how on other channels they try to always say the person missing was a brilliant amazing person as if dumb people never go missing.
There may be a grain of truth to the intelligence angle. Intelligent people tend to be more aware of the world outside of their lives. They are probably more likely to have careers that allow time for travel and the wherewithal to do so. However, once they are in the wilderness, and something unfortunate happens, they find themselves in situations bigger than they are.
Well we're here, look there's a trail and it has signs marking the way for everything. There's a picnic area, Lookout Point, and the Lake. What's a porthole? That means everyone stick together no one wander off!

OMG it's RUSTY!!
I'm native to the Greater Yellowstone Region. We have so many people go missing or lose their lives out in the back country. What I find to be the most common cause of misfortune are as follows:
1.) Lack of preparation.
2.) Poor communication.
3.) Overestimating one's ability.
4.) Needless risks.
Point 1 - This one manifests itself in many ways. Not enough water. Not enough food. Proper clothing. Lack of maps and understanding of the terrain. Water is a major one though. Dehydration is the primary killer when lost for long periods of time. Three days is all it takes, and that leads us to our next part.
Point 2 - When lost or stranded your fate depends on how you planned and communicated with people before. When I go hunting each year in the mountains, I leave a written plan with at least two people. In my plans, I leave roads I intend to take. Names of prominent peaks and ridges I will hike towards or around. I leave my truck parked by the road, or within sight of it. When I give this plan out, I give a latest report in time, and if I don't report by then, they contact the sheriff. If nobody knows where you are, you've likely already expired before a search began.
Point 3 - It's important to remember that once out here, you are on your own. I've seen too many people think they could rely on a cell signal, overestimating their ability to contact anyone for help. Or overestimating how long they can walk without water. Or how much energy they really have and how far they can go. Last year a guy climbed a hill that didn't seem to imposing. When he reached to top, it's believed he was too tired to go back down and fell asleep while resting. He awoke to dark sky, and rapidly dropping temperatures. It had been 65 degrees in the day, but hit 30 and began snowing. Temperatures dropped further to 19. Rescuers found him a day or two later. It's very easy to look at something and think you can do it, but to be there on foot and making a climb is a whole other ball game.
Point 4 - And now on point 4, all the above tie together here. Alot of tourist, and even natives (I'm guilty of this myself) see something and usually the line of thought goes, "When will I get another chance to do [insert something dumb and not thought out to well]." Sometimes it's climbing a mountain without proper gear (guilty). Sometimes it's standing on a precarious ledge. And sometimes it's getting out of your car to try and pet a bull elk or buffalo. (Yes I've seen this first hand enough times that it needs to be said.) Many people take risks by not preparing, communicating, or doing more then they are physically capable of. Too many people go thrill and adventure seeking in places were caution should be exercised.
Well that's my soapbox. The wilderness is a beautiful place, but it is very wild. Great respect should always be given, because Mother Nature is unforgiving, and can chew you alive before you realize you were ever in any danger.
