Linux based system on chip running an emulator. Whatever functionality is the ULA exists as a function of whatever emulator they have included. They support ULA+ as a flag in the options
While it's interesting I don't see the point of making something look like a ZX Spectrum if it's just a facade and it's just an emulator running on some ARM board. Might as well just run a ZX Spectrum emulator on a computer at that point. The one thing that might be interesting is if someone figured a way to make the case & keyboard work with an original or replica board.
Being able to plug it in via HDMI and have it usable in a few seconds is attractive for just a quick retro session. No faff downloading emulators, finding ROMs etc. A quick nostalgia hit then chuck it in the cupboard till next year. Ultimately it's the nostalgic 46-55 year olds who have a spare £99 and very little free time are their audience
Not every TV has composite input now, not everyone has time to get it all hooked up and hope the tape works etc. even messing with all the old cables, having to use an upscaler just to play two minutes of jet set Willy is a massive disincentive to bother
Hopefully by now the laundry cycle has finished.
I'm washing my BBC micros
@@backofficeshow and there was me thinking if was the cash off your RUclips income ;-)
It does not amount to folding money, that is the dream 🤣
They could get the shipping weight down by removing those weights and then have a hatch where you can add some sand :)
Maybe a slot in which you could add pennies!!
@@backofficeshow Or a small water tank. Just run it under the tap for 30 seconds.
About as long as your enthusiasm will last playing jet set Willy
@@backofficeshow I was so disappointed when I picked that up after playing Jet Pac, and it was just wandering around a mansion...
@pinkmouse4863 don't forget the constant deaths
ZX Spectrum was my first computer
What was your last non PC computer?
The. Spectrum. Teardown
I don't know why it would be running *_ANY_* kind of RTOS.
If you're nostalgic for the speccy just build yourself a picozx. You'll have more fun building it than playing any of the games!
I'm holding out for an IBM AT retro
THE Specturm
yeah, great quality control and review of design 😵💫
My heatsink is misaligned should I be worried ? lol. 🤣
It will probably melt through your table and floor like that thing in the old superman movie
Would have been far more interesting if the actual architecture had been discussed and where the functionality of the original ULA has gone.

I believe the word you were hunting for is "Tribute" ;-)

Have a pack of twiglets on me!
That sound! I thought I was having a heart attack. 🙂
I must be deaf
It was filmed on a stream train 😆
@mrroobarb I'm worried my hearing is going the same way as my eyesight 😱
