As a new EFL teacher trainee, I found your insights into the applications of the lexical approach significantly valuable. I am considering integrating the exercise when students are asked to analyse the words in bold and answer questions. This enables Ss to actively engage and use the new language. Thank yo!
@@taniateachertraining5281 New potatoes is a common collocation, very. New food - how is this a collocation? Don't stress though, I liked the video, it was very useful.
Dear Fernanda, thanks for your comments. I am sorry I didn't answer before. If you have any questions or you need any help regarding your lessons, I will be here. www.taniateachertraining.com
Thanks a lot! But there isn't a text-book that we can use for classes which has this type of exercises already built in. Or can you recommend some textbook? I've not tried many, I'm new to teaching. I have two middle-school elementary-level students and one pre-intermediate-level grown-up. It will take a lot of time to create activities manually prior to each lesson, considering them being one-on-one. Thanks.
I'm not sure what's going on around 3-5 min' but teaching co-locations has always been an important part of teaching lexis. Many, many words have multiple uses, but one at a time please....we teach the meaning that will be required to get them through next task in the lesson (We define BLOCKER Words)....otherwise you're just going to confuse people.
Fascinating and informative. You explained this very well. Now I have a much clearer understanding. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic! Clear description of the approach

Hi Jimmy. Thanks for your comment. I agree. The point here is to show learners chunks of language so they learn more meaningful lexis in less time.
Thank you
