Grammar Translation Method (19th century): Classes taught in mother tongue, focus on translation, grammar rules, reading classical texts. No attention to pronunciation. - Gouin Method (late 1800s): Taught directly in target language using connected sentences, no translation or explicit grammar rules. Focused on oral skills. - Direct Method (early 1900s): Only used target language, introduced everyday vocabulary/sentences through question/answer exchanges. Emphasized speech, listening, correct pronunciation and grammar. - Audiolingual Method (1950s): Used drilling of phrases, inductive grammar teaching, limited vocabulary in context. Goal was oral proficiency. - Cognitive Code Learning (1960s): Incorporated more deductive learning and rule explanations based on Chomsky's work. Retained drilling and grammatical sequencing. - Designer Methods (1970s): Community Language Learning used supportive groups. Suggestopedia used relaxation. Silent Way used stimulus words. Total Physical Response heavily used imperatives and interaction. Natural Approach focused on relaxation and comprehensible input. - Communicative Language Teaching (1980s onward): Eclectic approach viewing language as a means of communication. Included real-life tasks and focused on learner needs. Teacher as facilitator of communication.
As a new EFL teacher trainee, I found your insights into the applications of the lexical approach significantly valuable. I am considering integrating the exercise when students are asked to analyse the words in bold and answer questions. This enables Ss to actively engage and use the new language. Thank yo!
Anyhting you need, please let me know. Thanks for your comment.
@@taniateachertraining5281 I appreciate your generous willingness to help
Hi dear I want to open an english Institut and I've prepared everything but resources I want to have text books from age 3 and I'm considering big fun books from 3 to 6, family and friends 7 to 14, intercheng for starter adults and A2 to C1 evolve ( for adults) i wanna know you opinion about this whole plan, It realy matters to me and would be a big help ❤️❤️
Hello there!! It looks like you have a solid plan there , I would just double check two things: Big Fun has switched to NEW BIG FUN and you need to see if you like the new one. My esconde question is regarding the Publishing Houses. I mean, you want to work with Pearson, Oxford and Cambridge. Wouldnt you prefer to stick to one? So you can follow one line and see your students’ progress? It id only a sugestion. Anyways, the three Publishing Houses are good so revise them again and go for It! I am here in case you need more help, ok?
@@taniateachertraining5281 thank you dear for you quick response you are so sweet, and yeah I will check the new big fun but my main confusion is starter adults I mean don't you think that evolve 1 is a little bit boring? And Maybe that's how I see it? Don't consider interchange to be more interesting and entertaining for those who are facing a new language in ther life for the first time ?
@@taniateachertraining5281 and another thing about teenagers a 13 years old teen can't stand a a book like evolve (I think it would be boring and exhausting for him) What is your solution for this range ?
Thanks a lot! But there isn't a text-book that we can use for classes which has this type of exercises already built in. Or can you recommend some textbook? I've not tried many, I'm new to teaching. I have two middle-school elementary-level students and one pre-intermediate-level grown-up. It will take a lot of time to create activities manually prior to each lesson, considering them being one-on-one. Thanks.
This is excellent. Thank you.
nice
You are an amazing teacher trainer. Do you do private mentoring?

Wonderful review
What's the program you ues it ?
Good and clear explanation , thank you
Hi, I see that Community Language Learning, Content-Based Instruction, Task-Based Instructions and Participatory Aprroaches aren't mentioned in your video. In addition, I must do a research on Phonetic Method and Psychological Method. Are they part of Language Teaching Methods? Thanks for your response in advance.
Hi Yen. For More información on the first three approaches you mention, you can check the book by Jack C Richards on Methods and Approaches, as for for the two last ones, they might not have been as well informed or solid since this Is the first Time I hear about them. Thanks for writing. Have a great day!
Very informative, thanks for sharing

Hi , in your opinion which book is better? evolve or american english file 3 edition
Hi there! Well, American English File has been there for a while now, while Evolve is newer, so Evolve has newer research involved and also the latest techniques and methodology too, so I would definitely go for Evolve. That is My personal opinión. Ok?
@@taniateachertraining5281 even though it's the 3rd edition of the American English file, do you think the best book would be the Evolve book?
@@authenticvlogs9518 I think You should try Evolve and see what works best for You. I love it because of the methodological principales but You would need to try it first.
can this book help in IELTS?
Hi Jolan. If you are preparing your students for IELTS It could help but the exercises are not entirely related to ielts preparation.

Hi Tania! I’ve been working with Interchange and Passages for a long time, and now I’m thinking about switching to Evolve. From what I could notice, Evolve seems a lot more updated, but do you think it has enough listening practice?
