Another helpful video Martin. I’ve wanted to add sensors to my Grand Cherokee too. You made a good point about the electronics against a hot exterior surface. I’m in AZ where it would probably melt if mounted to the metal.
Another thing I've experienced on a hot summer day if the sensors are facing the Sun for quite some time when you put it in reverse they will act a little funny then to their oversensitive.
Great video bud, fitted same kit except front sensors too. Jeep wj diesel here in uk. :-) to get the Styrofoam out I used my carpenters drill bit, slightly smaller than hole, excavated a nice neat hole for the sensor to fit in. I found it came up a bit short on the front sensor wires, added about a foot of extra cable and all was good. Front sensors activated when pressing the brakes, rear sensor wired into reversing light, break light wire activates front sensor, quite an easy fit and work brilliant, there is a switch on the back of my display which switches the beep noise on or off. Display looks factory in the jeep wj. Sometimes out in heavy rain triggers the front sensors so having the ability to switch the beeper off is handy but so far it's only been the odd random beep so not annoying and have never felt the need to switch it off. Great product and very cheap on eBay.
martinbuilt go for the front sensor rear sensor kit, love mine, comes in handy knowing on rear at 0.5 my towing hitch is six inches from wall etc. Love your videos bud. That's one sweet wj.
You need to install a switch on either the ground wire or the power wire coming from your backup lights. Just remember to turn it back on when you are not towing the trailer.
Can I put those sensors in the front bumper and connect the hot wire to a switch so when my wife parks she can tell how far her front end is to the car in front of her? she is short and can't see the front end of her car?
Yes absolutely that would work as well. You may want to hook it up to a switch I'm not sure how annoying that thing could be if it's on all the time while the Ignition switch is on.
I am just putting one on my 2002 WJ I think it will be a bit like having a Sat-Nav I never wanted one could not see the point but now I would be lost without it.
I didn't hear you mention that the sensor bezels are dished a certain way, like directional--I think they should be rotated to get the sensor pointing parallel to the ground if you know what I mean... it helps on bumpers with a curve towards the ground...
You don't what the sensors to point to the ground, if the bumper is curved the sensors need to be mounted high enough that they point rearward to work properly.
Did you rotate the sensors so they all match and face perfectly rearward? I think they also have a recommended height above the ground too... I bought the 8-sensor set, F & R, but also am considering the no-drill foil tape version which I also bought for ~$10; haven't decided yet.
It does still work the only thing I've had an issue with it on extremely hot days above 100 degrees and if the Sun is beating down on the sensors when I shift in reverse it will go off immediately like there's something back there when there is it.
Thanks for this, been looking for ages to find a good “how to” video and this is the best - keep it coming!
I really appreciate that. I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful. Thank you for watching.
I like that clean install! I'll definitely do it to my one too :) I have 2004 2.7diesel inline 5 :)
tamiyadriverGp same here in uk, 2.7 diesel wj, fitted front and rear kit, works a treat.
great video. they look a factory fit, dash monitor blends in great.
Great professional install. Like you attention too detail
Thanks! 👍 I'm glad you liked it.

Doing the exact same install on my WJ. an invaluable video, thanks so much...
i would love that in my car, looks factory and useful.
Perfavore dove devo collegare i fili di corrente, nero.rosso. blu. Giallo
The power wire should be connected to your reverse light

I may need to replace mine. one of the sensors is giving me weird readings. Also plan on adding the bind spot sensors.

hey, do you know how to disable the sensor when in reverse? it's annoying when i'm pulling a horse trailer
thanks

Very Good. Thanks ! I have a Grand Cherokee Overland 2005 (Diesel)
Thank you as just about to install in my Jeep.
Glad I could help

Is it the connection to the reverse light that actually powers this device or is the power source separate thanks
keep on jeepin

I also like those side warning lights that these newer cars have to make lane changes safer.

very good video
Hey just wanted an updated on the sensors, do they still work well? Was thinking of buying some...
I just recently replaced the sensors the heat out here is hard only them.
Was gonna buy the exact same product, just wanna ask if it still works until today?
It does still work the only thing I've had an issue with it on extremely hot days above 100 degrees and if the Sun is beating down on the sensors when I shift in reverse it will go off immediately like there's something back there when there is it.
did you get that craigs list link i sent you?
