The problem with the third person flying segments is that at some points the ship automatically slides to the borders of the screen and somehow you have to know where it's gonna go so you can steer it to the opposite side. It's fucking trial and error and is just not worth it.

For some reason I owned this. On the PSX. And I got really good at playing this turd. Through repetition. Oh god this is clearly something I need to put back into the big box of repressed memories.

I actually finished this several times back in the day... and I still have the box...
also this was the first time any Star Wars live-action scenes were filmed since Return of the Jedi. Nice little bit of trivia there.

You know how I used to describe the controls during those flying sections?
It's like if the character ingame was your drunk buddy and you kept pulling on the steering wheel to prevent him from hitting something.

These games were never flawless in how they controlled with the mouse for sure, however these games were incredible back in the day. Yes, now they're outdated as hell, but it's actually a decent alternative Star Wars story. And it lets you fly the Millenium Falcon through tunnels in quite an awesome way. I've played through Rebel Assault I and II and enjoyed them, despite being ridiculously hard to control at times. Also, nope, I never needed to cheat. People really can't deal with difficult games anymore it seems. And yes, there were scenes I've tried dozens of times before beating them, yes.

  • @patrickodan

haven't played it for a long time but i never had any problems with completing it. I did use a joystick so perhaps that plus lack of money to buy other games made me good at these kind of games.
as for a game suggestion perhaps Fable? it was still a fun game but nothing like was promised in the end.

Seriously thought. Rebel Assault 2 is a decent game. Trying to 100% it requires a lot of memory, reflexes and patience. Personally, I love it. It's painfully simple and that is its biggest strength. Anybody can play.

In answer to your question I have a couple of suggestions:
    1. Star wars Force Commander - A game that promised strategy gameplay on the level of nothing recently offered (for me anyway) in the Star Wars universe. What you got was a reasonable RTS with dreadful AI, appallingly bad screen sizing (frequently AT-ATs would be off my screen so they were really difficult to control), awful controls, and a fairly dull campaign that even me at ~10 just abandoned. To give you some idea of what I thought of this game, I traded it for a BIG bar at school (Sorry Dad) and I still think I got the better end of the deal
    2. Spore - Well, this one is fairly obvious
    3. Black & White 2 - So I've recently replayed this and come to a conclusion rather more evolved that I had originally produced so allow me to explain. Black & White was a game by the famed Peter Molyneux in which you were a God (Literally a hand) and controlled a tribe and your creature (An animal you chose at the beginning of the game). It was good. Completely original, new gameplay features, God powers, a crazy animal and a reasonable story. Sounds good right? It was! So when No. 2 was announced, I was ALL ears and so excited. I remember getting it, installing it and enjoying it. Right up until the moment it crashed, and crashed again, and again, and again. Ok, no problem, a patch came out. But the patch revealed its most glaring problem (Something I just discovered) - The gameplay loop is so dreadfully dull. It consists of the same things over and over and over again. In my recent playthrough I have ignored most of the God features of the game and, instead, focused upon city planning and building really big walls. The creature part is shallow and lacklustre building on nothing the original set out, with your animal frequently getting stuck in the map and your villagers being murdered by invading Aztecs. Furthermore, the Army mechanics allow you to, more or less, cheese any map you get stuck on by simply capturing anything and everything you see (Not that I needed them by the way, the 'Good' capture mechanic is so easy that, as long as you have enough houses for everyone, on a long enough timescale, you are guaranteed to win). The one good thing about this is that I would now be able to build a really fantastic Garden City with City baths, a university every 5 blocks and a temple for all to enjoy.
They were my biggest disappointments (or more accurately put, the ones I can remember off the top of my head)

Were these games awful? Most definitely. Were they awesome? Most definitely. Perhaps try playing with a joystick, the way it was intended to be played, instead of a mouse.

I see what you and many others are saying about the game. However, I think you are judging too harsh, and gave up playing to quickly. I can beat the first disc in less than an hour? If I can get the second to work I'll continue to play, but I grew up in the 80s so when this game came out, as a star wars fan, it was unlike anything I had played before it. Think about the times. The live action in this games was never done before to this level and made the game a spectacul of star wars entertainment for fans, with a completely NEW story intertwined within the movies. No one thought the graphics were bad. THEY WERE THE BEST, when his game came out in my opinion. I mean the game was filmed using the same movie magic tech as ILM did in 77-84. Thats what makes this so special of a game. I in fact wish games had gone in this direction instead of what we are getting today. Live action filming just can't be beat by CGI I don't care what anyone says.

To me it has to be Bravely Default. I was first attracted to it because Sakuraba and Revo joined forces for the soundtrack, and I love their work to no end. And the rest seemed quite fine too. And then I've played it and my god this game is a mess.
Sure, the music part delivered, but everything else... ugh. Not a lot of likeable characters, a story I can't get invested in, the most horrendous battle system ever, and to top it all, the most hideous soulless character models ever. I mean, seriously, what's wrong with the Square Enix people? They have a game with GORGEOUS backgrounds complemented with SUPERB music, and then they throw in those ugly chibis as expressive as cucumbers with dead fish eyes and chubby non-detailed bodies... Just... WHY?!
And it's not like they CAN'T do expressive, pretty and detailed semi-chibi style. Have you played Granblue Fantasy? That game has semi-chibi models too, but they are gorgeous. And it's a friggin MOBILE GAME. So no excuses here...

I never played any of the Resident Evil games when I was young so I have no nostalgia for the older games. Always heard while growing up that RE4 is the best one. So I decided to give it a try around 4-5 years ago. And I am sorry to say that holy shit that game is bad.. nothing in the game makes any sense, the mechanics are so bad you want to throw your controller in the wall.. so after about 16 hours in I gave up.. I was done.. never finished it..
