    I really appreciate your reasoning to not call this a review but a first impressions video. Sadly most channels rush out a video and act like they now everything about the product already and you taking a step back and talking about the circumstances under which you conducted your testing is really something to appreciate. First video I saw of your channel but you already earned my like and sub 👍

    I’m am a pro illustrator and this is the “review” I’ve been looking for. All the other tech reviewers don’t use iPads day to day for work so their reactions towards it are odd. Of course they’re miffed by the new Pros power because they don’t use it.
    I usually do 3000px and run all the way up to 54 max layers in procreate on my 2020 Pro. So the new The pencil as well. I’m stoked to get mine! Thanks for the first impression!

      100% agree and I’m in the same situation as you, but coming from a 2018 pro. New Pro is nice but it’s hard to justify the 500$ bump to get 16gb of ram. And then when I’m comparing the air and pro 13” 8gb models the 13” air seems like a better deal than the Pro!? Am I crazy?

      I always think most owners of an iPad Pro are only using max 5% of the possibilities. I'm using it for private and work and I probably use 75% if not more of what's possible with an iPad. My old 1TB 2020 iPad Pro is 90% full. Only 100gB free space so ordered the 2TB now 😂 My iPad Pro also replaced my 27" iMac long time ago and only because of astrophotography I'm thinking of buying a desktop again. The iPad Pro is very well capable of editing stacked astrophotos/fits files, but the software is not available yet for the iPad. Stacking 300-500 separate 49mb photos will never come to the iPad, but editing already stacked fits files should absolutely be possible. I would definately pay for such an app if that would mean I could 'live' iPad Pro only again 👍

      Been using a 11" iPad Pro since 2019 and while I've come to appreciate the portability, the screen size always left me something to be desired, specially on programs with complex UIs. I've seen the larger model (the one I'd replace mine with, size wise) and it's a compromise between portability and screen size I'll need to ponder about. I admit I have a Goldilocks problem with tablet dimensions.

    id really love to see a review of that new texture coating option!!! I'm not sure if it would be better than having a paperlike on, since you dont have to deal with bubbling and stuff, but you have a nice permanent, better colour accurate textured screen. but I'm scared of getting it and realising its actually really bad or something and then not be able to put a paperlike on bc it would ruin the colours too much

    • @reubengecko
      @reubengecko 4 месяца назад +1

      So I've been into the Apple store to try this theory out, DON'T buy the nano texture option if you are looking for a different drawing experience, there is no difference (or very very little, I didn't notice anything) in the drawing experience with the Pencil Pro. Only opt for the nano-texture if you want to reduce glare on the screen, it does not change how the Pencil interacts with the display. I'd recommend going into a local Apple store if you have to to see what I mean. :)

    I'm an iPad Pro 12.9 M1 user, your review was one of deciding factor to buy it and I have been daily driving it for 2 years for digital art. I really really love it, but I don't see any worthy upgrade on this new M4. Even M1 is already more than what I need, not to mention the extra $200 price increase is major turn off. I doubt I will be using the extra pencil feature, as I'm just using a separate keyboard just like I do digital art on PC.

Bigger than that it will turn into "laptop" size where we need table to draw on. Still hold on my air 3 and pencil 1....hope they update the ipad os so the app can be more desktop like app.

      I have the iPad 12.9 inch 5th gen
      I use it all the time on the couch. And my bf likes watching live streams on it when he wants to use the TV for something else. I bet you the thinness makes it feel alot more like you're drawing on a sketchpad. But for drawing if you're intimidated by size, I'd say 11 inch would be more than enough for most people

    I want to see animation, on the air vs the pro. 3d rendering and workflow pro vs air and SPECIALLY APPLE PENCIL PRO in action

    I animate in 4K at 12 up to 24 fps and I get Just 5 - 2,5 seconds of video. I think more RAM is Important for Animation

    How's the display of Samsung S9 Ultra vs iPad pro? Do mention the sharpness

    Great video! I'm be curious to know what it's like trying to use 3D software on the tablet while it's in the keyboard case. In my case I'd like to use Uniform while making use of keyboard shortcuts. I'm wondering if that's something that would be comfortable to do.

    Hey Brad thanks for the video! Is COLOR CALIBRATION any good on this iPad? Cause this what I’d like to see working well before upgrading from my 2020 pro. I also work in the dark so this old display hurt my eyes real bad, hope it’s better now and I can upgrade asap 😅

    Hey Brrad, I have treated myself to a ipad mini current gen one for Christmas. I recently treated myself onto snatching a apple pencil. just wondering will ya be doing a future video on art apps to snatch at reasonable prices? i already got procreate and procreate dreams along with toonsquid.

    I’m really debating selling my M1 iPad Pro to get a new iPad Pro or iPad Air just for the new pencil since it finally has the sensor to detect “twist”
    How does the air compare to the M1 Pro? I just wonder if it’s even worth it to get a new iPad Pro.

    My biggest question is why get the pro over the air. The M2 is more than capable and it's a few undred dollars cheaper. Is the screen really a big deal? I have the 2018 ipad pro and want to upgrade and I thougtht the scree was already great, OLED is just meh as an upgrade imo.

      Your screen is 120hz IPS. Air is 60hz IPS. Pro is 120hz OLED. You can't go back to 60hz. It's horrible. And IPS -> OLED HDR is the biggest upgrade any device can have. New Air models are a total joke.

    pro level 3d software for the pros...sounds great but how about apple developers creating basic needs in apps like youtube? At this point you cannot use your ipad YT app to add endcards/captions/end screens. yeah its a bit off topic but for this level of investment ($2500 for a base unit pro w apple care in CAD - its a concern)

    Will you be reviewing the Microsoft Surface for drawing?
    I'm in the market for a new iPad/Drawing device, and the Microsoft keynote got me excited to try that route. But I don't want a shitty drawing tablet.
    If an iPad is a 9/10 drawing tablet and the Surface is a 7/10 -- that's ok. But I don't want one if it's like a 2/10, lol

    I'm REALLY hoping that they hit us with the ability to install a variant of MacOS on these new iPad Pros, and let us use Mac software on them... can you imagine that? They have the power... the ONLY place to get the M4 chip is in these things, so it's got enough horsepower. If they truly want to move these things to the next level, that would do it.

    Looking forward to seeing what you think of the nano glass with drawing.

    • @reubengecko
      @reubengecko 4 месяца назад +1

      No, probably not rom the M2. I would wait. the upgrades are cool but after a few days when the cool feeling wears off it's going to feel like the same iPad.

      @@thebradcolbow just what I thought, same when I upgraded from M1 since I purely upgraded for storage reasons. Thanks for your input, this is my fist channel I always go to for art tech :)
