      The short answer is there is a Big benefit to having a residential IP over a public service server IP address. However, when it comes to security they are both equal. In the VPN a essentials course their is VPN Features Guide that describes a good, better, and best approach as it pertains to different types of users.

      @Mexitplans  Год назад +5

      Congrats that sounds like an awesome adventure. If you want all of the devices in the home behind the router to be on Vpn, a router is recommended. The other option is to install the vpn software on each independent device. Nord is great for that because it offers clients for just about all devices. In your case, if you have the router option. You would simply plug one cable into the router of the internet service provide when you arrive and then your devices would connect your wifi instead of the hosts and be setup for vpn. One cool feature I forgot to mention about this device is that the router has a physical button on the side that can be set to enable or disable vpn at anytime. This is a very useful feature.

A VPN service is a software client that runs on other devices, iPhones, fire sticks and etc. Examples of Vpn services are NordVPN and others. With VPN software it’s on one device at a time. With a VPN router every device that is connect behind the router can be on the vpn tunnel.

      Well that’s a whole other story. Security is best approached in layers. In really depends on your Operating system, security awareness for scams like phishing attacks, desktop anti malware software (antivirus), desktop firewall Configuration, network firewall configuration and etc.
      A VPN doesn’t not inherently provide for more than the connection over a public wifi. What I mean is if you are using the wifi at Starbucks, this provides more security for your device’s Internet connect than not having such a solution. However, you can still be hacked by visiting the wrong website or responding to that late Amazon shipment email. I hope this makes some senses.

    Will this device with the vpn configuration installed, actually hide my IP location & my computer physical location.
    In Mexico, have telemex internet, we connect the router with vpn to modem, and then we have our computer hard wired to router, will it hide IP & PHYSICAL LOCATION? Like if I opened Google maps or weather on computer, would it show the city I set vpn for.
