Congratulations Jack , I Been a twins fan since day 1 Your induction is long over due I loved watching you pitch Me and my friends grew up in North st. Paul , and one of our greatest memories was watching You go 10 inninnings in 91 and bring it home
I graduated with Jack's little brother, Tom. Watched Jack pitch in high school, from behind the backstop...terrifying. There was no way I'd want to be in the batter's box while he was out there! Hardly ever a stats leader in the bigs, he instead dominated in perhaps the most important aspect of the game, one which can't be measured - heart! Well deserved!
If there was once guy I would pick to win a ball game it would be him. Too bad , that in Detroit, Morris looked like he never enjoyed the ride. Be nice to the media major leaguers, you'll get to Cooperstown faster.
Im not saying Jack doesnt deserve to be in, but if hes in, then theres definitely a case that Andy Pettitte should be in. Check the stats, pretty similar
Don't compare Luis to Catfish. To be clear I admired Tiant. And I am a lifelong Yankees fan. But Catfish, especially during his years in Oakland, was very special.
@@LordofDublin4 Hunter is one of the worst pitchers in the entire HOF and Tiant is statistically superior to him. Better metrics also, but believe what you wanna believe.
There are 81 pitchers at this moment in the hall of fame. If you rank them by WAR, as good a method as any, Morris ranks as the 18th worst. BUT if you rank them throwing out relievers, guys like Monty Ward and Babe Ruth who aren't really in for being pitchers, and obvious mistakes like Candy Cummings the worst ten are: 1. Rube Marquard 34.9 2. Jesse Haines 35.8 3. Catfish Hunter 36.3 4. Bob Lemon 37.6 5. Chief Bender 42.3 6. Jack Chesbro 42.3 7. Lefty Gomez 43.1 8. Jack Morris 43.5 9. Dizzy Dean 43.7 10. Herb Pennock 44.6 Except.. All of these guys had shorter careers than Morris. Starting-wise at least. Of these ten, Morris has the most starts, and second place is Catfish Hunter a full 51 starts behind. You could actually have a pretty good argument about whether Hunter or Morris is the worst starting pitcher in the hall of fame. But.. all that being said it's not like arguments of this nature weren't brought up and they put him in anyway. So there you go.
Morris is in primarily because on October 27 1991 he threw a complete game ten inning shutout to win game 7 of the 91 world series. A 1 nothing shutout at that. Nowadays they call everything "high leverage" jeez talk about high leverage it was 0-0 until the 10th. We'll never see that again. If he did that while playing for the Yankees he would have git to Cooperstown on the first ballot just like Eli manning will be a first ballot for an overall mediocre career with two crazy playoff runs leading to super bowls for the Giants
Congrats to Jack who was a real mean sob on the mound and deserves to be in hall, red Sox fan
Its about damm time, a clutch great pitcher congrats Jack
Yankees fan
Morris was not loved in Detroit after 1984.
Well done, well deserved and about time! You did St.Paul and Highland Park Sr. High proud. Congratulations Jack! Ivan Doneshefsky, class of 74
Congratulations Mr. Morris for this well-deserved honor!!!
It was a bit of a stretch for him to be in the Hall

You deserve this big guy . Thanks for the two great years in Toronto sir . We'll done
From Cleveland Thank you for what was a memorable career!!!!!
Congrats Jack! You deserve it!
I don't think so.
Jack is just first-class. I'm really enjoying him doing TV for the Tigers, he knows his stuff

We were happy with Jack Morris on the mound any day. Congrats to Jack, damn he was good.
In 1988 not one Tiger fan would have objected to trading Morris to the Red Sox for Roger Clemens. Clemens was 10 times better.
A real pitcher......A pitcher who pitched the whole game not just five innings. This guy was a mean dude, and this is long overdue.
The master of 9 inings
Thanks so much for taping this! Since the tigers love to tease us by talking about it and not showing it
St. Paul might not do much great but that side can pump out some great ball players.
What a beautiful human!
Congratulations My Brother Love U
From one Minnesotan to another, Thank you for 1991.

And schilling but he's not in for political reasons
Why are Jim Bunning, Catfish Hunter and now Jack Morris in the HOF and Luis Tiant is not?
