I don't track squat, too much work for me. I just don't eat much and don't snack and avoid anything with carbs at all cost except sometimes I do cheat for a day or two then go right back to normal. I don't go crazy but will eat a burger with a bun, eat chips and salsa etc. To me in my mind Its a slow process over time so I don't weigh much or very often and just keep doing what I'm doing and overtime I have been losing weight.
This is kind of what i do as well...i try to stay low carb/higher protein most of the week, cheat a bit on the weekends but then right back at it Monday. Seems to work but probably has slowed the weight loss down a bit.

I did Keto for about two years and I got to a point where I didn't track anything and still was very successful. I just avoided foods I knew were carbful, but otherwise I didn't track anything. I didn't cheat much because I honestly didn't really need to?? I was so satisfied by what I was eating I didn't have any cravings really.
I know five people who claim to have been doing keto for at least 2 years and claim it doesn’t work. I ask them if they are intermittent fasting, they say they can’t do it. I ask them if they are keeping their carbs below 30 grams per day, they say they can’t do that. I ask them if they are avoiding sugars, again all say no. It’s obvious to me their mindset is the reason keto doesn’t work for them. I have been doing keto for 2 years and have lost 160 lbs. it does work if you are committed.

I was tracking everything when I first started Keto and IF. Its been a few months now and I got the hang of what I know my plate should look like. Cheat days are a rare occasion but I do it if I'm out and extremely limited in choices without ending up still hungry later. Im so close to my weight goal.
Well...I'm keeping my daily carbs under 50, and not falling for the processed "Keto" labeled foods(which are still carb heavy, even if they're much lower than what they're attempting to replace-I'm looking at you, bread....). I cook most of my own meals(including tortillas, bread and making dressings and sauces from scratch). I buy organic and pasture raised/fresh caught to avoid extra chemicals and GMOs. I only use extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil to cook, and I've utilized some really good recipes from a few excellent Keto cooking channels. I've been on Keto for 5 months and I've lost 53 pounds so far, and 3 belt notches. Keto is working for me just fine.

This was a great video!! About the "not watching calories" thing. That started with people who were eating - and tracking - a true, balanced keto diet. If you figure macros correctly (and I advise lowering fat some from what they advise and increasing protein a bit ), and then you actually plan your food and track it, the calories will necessarily take care of themselves. Calories are set at 4 per gram of carbohydrate and protein and 9 per gram of fat. If you set macros and stick to them, then you really DON'T need to watch calories because you already, indirectly, are. The problem started with all the "dirty" keto and people just limiting carbs and eating a lot of fat and then calling it keto. If you are only counting carbs (and cheating in them besides) and eating a lot of fat, you will definitely be consuming too many calories while also losing muscle mass and gaining weight. People think it's too much trouble, and at first it IS a pain to plan at least a few days ahead then track and adjust during the day to stay in line or at least really close. The truth is that most of us actually eat many of the same basic things over and over with just some tweaks along the way. For instance, my three main breakfasts are baked eggs with Asiago or Parmesan cheese, an omelet (with varying toppings) and a hot sausage and cheese on biscuit (keto, of course). I will add in pancakes or waffles or a breakfast casserole on occasion. Since these are recurring items, they're easy to plug in and trade as needed to help adjust a day's macros. Same for other meals. Most of us have a handful or two of basic foods that we eat often or rework into variations, like taco meat that can be used in lots of ways. Or chili - plain, on hot dogs, topped with keto cornbread for tamale pie, etc. Or pizza - varying toppings with red or Alfredo sauce, or made as a casserole. If one thing doesn't fit, find a variation that does. Annie's video about cooking proteins ahead - like grilled chicken - and adding various sauces or seasonings or using in casseroles is a great one. Once you've been doing it awhile, you'll know which kinds of foods fit whatever space you have available in your menu or how to tweak a meal you've already planned to give you "macro space" to fit another menu item you're considering. Just my two cents. I've been keto forever and I still plan and track 15 years later. It's so much easier now with apps like Carb Manager than it was with just a notebook and pencil (so I could erase 😂)! When I stop tracking and planning, I get into a lot of trouble with inflammation.

Okay, that IGG test is really important, especially if you have an auto-immune disease (like my rheumatoid arthritis). Inflammation is the enemy in auto-immune, so knowing what foods might trigger a flare should be important to know, and can help reduce medication dependency. VERY helpful information!
I like LMNT, but I don't get why they don't put in more potassium and magnesium like Dr Berg's drink does. I like that LMNT sells their electrolytes unflavored, unlike Berg, but they just need more electrolytes in each serving.
I lost from 237 down to 172. It works. Energy went up. Inflammation went down. If anyone just eats when they are hungry, incorporate some fasting, and never eat after 6pm, I don’t see how it doesn’t work.
I started doing keto about 3 months ago. I went for the keto snacks and honestly unless you make it yourself those are not that great on keto. If it says keto it still might not be keto. I have now switched to carnivore and I'll occasionally eat something not carnivore. I like keto brownies and thats my "cheat day" . The best tip I can give you is stay away from processed oils. Like seed oils vegtable oils and peanut oil even olive oil. Strive for Avocado oil but perferably Animal oils/ fats. Remember guys almost everything you buy has a form of these bad oils even "keto" products. Another thing eat liver there are so many great vitamins in it. Dont over eat it though. Also don't worry about drinking water. Drink when you are thirsty thats your bodys natural response to needing water. Make sure its only water unless its for electrolytes I highly recommend the unflavored LMNT. Limit artificial sweetners. I am not saying don't eat them just limit them. I mostly don't eat them anymore personally. Now thats out of the way. I have lost over 60 lbs im now 295. I no longer crave anything thats sweet makes me almost sick now. Sometimes i do keto browines but I don't crave it. I crave meat especially now. I don't eat dairy even cheese. I eat until i'm full. I won't lie I eat mostly at wendys and order my meals just the meat and bacon.
This is exactly where I'm at Annie. The first 42 pounds came off pretty quickly. However these last 10 pound have been horrible. Lose a pound, then gain two.
Thank you for this video. It was very info. I have had a weight stall. Though I am on Keto to keep my blood sugar low. I use to be pre-diabetic. I no longer test that way. My wife passed away from cancer a year ago. And now my daughter has treatable cancer. It’s been a tough two years.

I lost 35 pounds doing Keto and have maintained my weight for 5 years now. Now that I am no longer looking to lose more weight but just maintain it I do have a small glass of dry red wine with my dinner.
I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. That in itself is a huge stressor. Remember though that you are HER DAUGHTER... Anywho- all of the points that you bring up are spot on- but I think one was omitted- this is an issue that I have had almost my entire life from teens on- not consuming ENOUGH calories- when we do not take enough in, ( especially those of us who have battled weight for years and years prior to going keto) our bodies begin to think that it is being starved and consequently slows the metabolism down to conserve fat and energy. I will find myself falling under a good maintenance caloric level and the weight will start to creep up... so I just watch everything that goes into my Body and adjust from there... that is usually enough to jump start the weight loss - Thanks for all that you share with us! Though I'm now on maintenance, I hit a plateau. So I reflected on my past week and realized I had not had a bowel movement all week! You'll fall off the wagon again if it keeps being a constant worry or a chore. Don't obsess over your food so much and just replace all junk/processed foods with whole foods. It's a much easier and less restrictive way to get your insuline levels and inflamtion under control, especially when you combine it with IF and daily excercising. There's very little reliable studies that support the claims about long term keto benefits for your metabolism, it seems to mostly be about the greedy diet/lifestyle industry and social media hype machine. The best is to come up with a definition of what KETO is first. Keto is not a Carnivore diet. Keto is a Lifestyle based on a high take of healthy fats and a minimal intake of Complex Carbs. Organic veggies are a must for the Microbiome and meat consumed should be Organic and consumed in moderation.

I had to cut out all the keto replacements, almond/coconut flour, fat bombs, etc., so I’ve stopped using your recipes. Only whole foods, mostly animal based did it for me, but still love your attitude:)

I'm 5'2 and lost 20 lbs last fall so quickly it was amazing- but I did secretly still count cals and did not eat all the fat suggested on KETO pure eating programs 😊. What's funny about when I craved french fries is that I really liked the salty oily crunch more than the flavor of the potatoes. Then add some ketchup to the flavor mix and it was a genuine treat. I tossed out potatoes several months ago when I started my keto-friendly diet. But a month ago I decided to buy one spud and make some fries with my fried fish. After I finished eating them, my blood glucose shot up to 160. I ruled out the fish coating as adding to my carb count as I used coconut/almond flour with ground-up pork rinds. Consequently, it took about 3 hours for my glucose to get back to the normal
ROUNDUP in our US ground water has also lead to a spike in Down syndrome for babies. Especially in the NE of the country. It’s pretty nasty stuff actually.
Most issues we have as a species is caused by grain. When we invented agriculture and started processing grain was the start of our food related dysfunction and disease. Tell me one other animal besides ourselves and our pets who have to brush their teeth. If sugar, starch and grain rot out our teeth and cause oral disease you can guarantee they are also the source of the other issues.
I know keto is your thing, but I was recently told that I have MTHFR gene mutations c677t and a1298c and have been shocked at the percent of the population that has some variation of MTHFR. I say this because when you talk about bread and pasta it’s not just about gluten, it’s also about folic acid.
I’ve been on the keto diet for the past six months and have lost 45 pounds but within the last 30 days I haven’t lost any more weight that’s why this video has been like a lightbulb that just went off for me I was not considering all the little nibbles here and there and thought maybe the carb free beer I was drinking was OK so thank you for switching that lightbulb on for me, no more carb free beer for a while😀
Food sensitivities happen because of leaky gut. Undigested food is absorbed and the immune system sees it as something that’s foreign and attacks it. Leaky gut happens mainly because of glyphosate (patented as an antibiotic) that is in most conventionally grown foods. Organic is the way to go.
As I was editing this video, I was thinking about this and wondering if food sensitivities would disappear if we fixed our microbiome first to repaired the gut lining.
I was doing great on low carbs, but started having histamine problems. The foods that were working started giving me hives all over, sinus problems etc. I had to cut back on foods I was eating and now I am lost as to what I can eat and I am gaining. weight
My daughter-in-law went on a strict keto diet a few years ago at the urging of her new doctor. She was morbidly obese, Type 2 diabetic, and had fatty liver disease. She’s lost 100 pounds, quit using insulin, and her liver tests within normal range; however, she’s stuck at shedding her last 70 pounds due to the daily cheating ‘nibbles’. I use your recipes, in addition to others I’ve found in recipe books. One of my favorite is Mexican Keto. I’ve modified my cooking to make sure I adhere to keeping her on track when she dines at our house (BTW - we’ve never had weight issues, as we keep fit), but I’m getting tired of making special keto meals for an obvious cheater. Has anybody ever confronted a dietary cheater without shaming them?
Congratulations on how supportive & helpful you are to your DIL, it must be wonderful for her to know that you're doing what you can to help her and that she knows she can trust you & be comfortable whenever she visits. It is so hard to visit family & friends when they don't make any effort with food choices or provide temptation and that can cause someone to 'fall off the wagon' for a while. Because you've never had weight issues you really don't understand how hard it is for those of us who do and it's a very complicated topic. It is only ever up to the individual to work out what they need to do to help themselves and confronting someone even with the best intentions can easily backfire so please don't. She has already proved to herself & subsequently everyone else, that she can change her habits and she will also know what she needs to do to continue on her health journey but she may be experiencing any number of issues that you will not know about or understand. She may need to speak to a counsellor for instance to break through. Many people have not faced the problems which led to obesity & may find things becoming too uncomfortable the closer they come as they lose their 'barrier'. It may seem to be a waste of time to you to prepare keto meals but it is a healthy way of eating which hopefully ties in with your own presumably healthy lifestyle as you said you all keep fit. Keeping fit is not just about exercise as I'm sure you know but also making healthy choices with everything to do with our physical, mental, emotional, spiritual & environmental well-being, it's not just about food! I've known & worked with many people who are considered to be fit because they don't have weight issues but they've lived very unhealthy lives which were hidden from our very judgemental society. Please love, accept & continue to support your DIL for who she is and not what she looks like - that is truly the best way to help anyone, as none of us are perfect...
@@janee9890 Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Yes, my DIL has several ‘triggers’ that send her into daily comfort nibbling. When she met our son, who was raised in a very stable household, she realized that she was raised in a totally chaotic world: Dad in and out of jail/prison due to drug-related crimes; mom raising the children essentially as a single mom; parental divorce; no structure to her daily life; brother murdered on his 16th birthday….loads of trauma, and food was the only way to soothe the anxiety. She’s had a long road through therapy, and has worked hard to knit together her immediate family while over-writing the painful past. An insurance provider change through our son’s employer forced her to change physicians. She came upon a no-nonsense MD who sent her through a plethora of tests, consultations with a pulmonologist, an endocrinologist, a renal specialist, a cardiologist, etc., and then developed a closely-monitored dietary plan in conjunction with her therapist, as he was concerned about the numbers/types of anxiety & anti-depressant meds she was consuming. For the first time, she was being held accountable for her choices. I’ve learned to ‘read’ the cues when she’s overwhelmed in the moment, and I know how to distract her from invasive thoughts; however, it’s been her MD and therapist who’ve helped her truly take control. What she craves is having her family members take accountability for their actions when she was a child; however, the most acknowledgement she receives is (I’m paraphrasing here), “That’s in the past, let’s move on and forget about it, because we can’t change the past.” She’s also dealing with cultural issues that have allowed male family members to get a ‘free pass’ for their choices. We’ve raised 2 of our own children. I didn’t think I would need to be mothering/mentoring my DIL. I continue to encourage her weight loss journey by using good keto-centered meals, often sharing the recipes of items she found to be especially delicious. It’s frustrating to hear that her family makes zero effort, always conveniently forgetting about her journey. Maybe I’m simply more frustrated with them than I am with her nibble ‘cheating’.
@@probablynot1368 Man were you (& your family) sent into your DILs life for a reason! She is seriously lucky to have your support & care and huge kudos to her for all her efforts. Many times (morbid) obesity comes from traumatic experience(s). I can tell from what you've written that she still has issues with her family including accepting that her childhood was not the happy carefree experience most of us expected. She also appears to need to deal with her mother not providing her with the love & attention that she expected her to. I'm not saying her mother didn't love her or provide the best care she was able to give, it just may not have been what your DIL thought a mother should be like. I do speak again from extensive experience including my own. My mother loved me and did her absolute best for me but couldn't understand how or why I did anything because I was so different to her, plus I was sexually abused as a child by my oldest brother which she would never believe. She couldn't seem to remember that I needed to not eat certain foods (eg) gluten when the Drs thought I was coeliac! I had to work through all that & it was only after yet another huge fight about my weight that I suddenly realised my mother could not provide what I had always needed her to provide & that I had to find it within myself. Talk about a light bulb moment! After many years of hard work, I managed to get our relationship to change from constant fighting to being peaceful & me accepting & thanking her for all that she did and helping her understand my highly sensitive body & life. I constantly research & have found many interacting factors with obesity especially with insulin resistance & diabetes, even with the connection to depression and so many other linked conditions. It's extra-ordinary what scientists & health professionals are discovering! Dr Eric Berg is one of my favourites. Again I commend you for your ongoing efforts, love & support (and frustration with her disfunctional functional family), I hope the future is much brighter and peaceful for you all. 🥰

Why is it hard to put electrolytes in sparkling waters, for instance, mixing the electrolytes and it’s freezing out to the point where it overflows the glass. I have a problem with talking too fast 😆 I need to work on slowing down. I noticed that too with electrolytes and sparkling waters. I’m not sure what the science is behind it. I just carefully stir a little bit in when I’ve done it before.
I do believe sometimes those anti-bodies may indicate genuine intolerances, if it's a food that isn't regularly in your diet or the values are very very high. But I've read that for the most part the IgG results simply reflect how often you eat those foods and don't indicate anything pathological.
Inflammation...those of us with autoimmune disease (psoriasis in my case) are finding that the keto diet can actually spur flares, especially if you are religiously going into ketosis. Then there's NAFLD... I have found that instead of labeling my food choices as Keto or not, I have simply made better ingredient choices and am losing weight. Stopped regular sugar (soda, both reg. & diet), fast food except grilled chicken (no fries) and switched to whole grain/nuts/seeds wheat bread (Dave's Killer Bread). It's more of a mindset - Since quitting sugar, I actually feel full longer.
That’s wonderful! I’m glad you found what works for you. I’ve been hearing more and more who don’t do straight keto anymore, but more of a hybrid or just eat meals low carb or low sugar and more whole food/real ingredient approach.
@sharon94503 I totally agree with your point of view. I feel no diet is perfect. Why? Because no two humans are the same. Physically or genetically. And sugar is definitely a killer. It causes cancer a well known fact. Processed food isn't doing you any good either.
For the most part, failure is because everyone tries to make "keto version" of their favorite trigger foods and tend to overeat them. This usually leads to cheating back for "flavor" purposes, too many "fat bombs" which our brains see as sweet and trigger responses that resist fat burning. Diet drinks and powdered sugar replacements contain maktodextrine, which has double the glycemic index of sugar, which is 65. Maltodextrine's index is 110! It is made from GMO Corn and causes serious weightloss stifling when we ingest it.
I found out I have histamine intolerance to bacon and pork rinds which was causing chronic inflammation and completely stalled my metabolism. I cut both those things out and I’m back on track, although it does SUCK at least I know what it is.
It took me a year to give up dairy. I wish I had done it sooner. I would’ve felt better. Plus, with all the vegans, they’re making some really good tasting vegan cheeses. Not the same as cows, milk cheese, but still good. I had a gluten-free cheese free pizza at a pizza parlor recently and it was delicious.
In the last 3 weeks we have been attending a trivia game at a pizza place and I have been eating lots of gluten. The next morning I have been waking up with a migraine.
aahhhh the carb creep. I do track them and I tell myself it’ll be ok if it’s under 50gs of carbs but I wanted to commit myself to strict Keto. But sometimes I grab a little too much of something whatever
You say calories matter but when keto is 70%+ fat you're going to get through those calories. I've been trying low cal for a short while now and having to lower so many mainstays of the keto diet means I've had to chose one or the other. I'm staying with the low cal but still keeping carbs low as well and gradually letting more fat back into my diet because frankly low cal is unsustainable for me long term.
i did keto for weightloss, first 4 months, 42 pounds lost down to 209.. stuck at 209 for 6 months, started keto/ high protein, 3 months no weightloss. then one day dropped my calories, wham now down to 203 an still losing... now doing under 20g of carbs,,
Would gluten even show up on one of the food sensitivities test if I don’t eat it? I’m highly gluten sensitive so I don’t eat it. I’ve heard that you’re supposed to eat it for like 6 weeks prior to some tests to get an accurate result. But it affects me so bad that there’s no way I could do that. Lol. Just wondering. I know you’re gluten sensitive also and it showed up on your test. This is all great info.
My husband, who Should be on keto, just loves his deep fried French fries and unfortunately, they taste good! So whenever he has it, i cant help it; I've got to taste them, but i keep it to a limit of 3 fries, and I'm super picky on which one i pick. Did you know there's close to 1g of carbs in every single Thin restaurant fry? Insane!
I have lost so much weight on Keto I concerns me that maybe I have some sort of hidden cancer. 1/4 of my body weight in two years. My blood work all looks good, but the thought is, what if the right test has not been run. Most likely paranoia. I do feel pretty good and often get complimented about all the stuff I do at my age (68).
After my heart attack is when I learned the most about nutrition and hormones, insulin resistance etc. We follow similar paths now with eating and life choices. But knowing that you are / were a pharmacist says it all. That was my path to destruction. I am retired early and healthier and happier.
keto stopped working on me 2 yrs ago. i eat very clean though but still can't loose weight, 2 months ago i started at the gym to only weight lift to bulk up (female body building). according to ur vid here, i'd have to completely stop all dairy. AHHhhhh lol. but ya even if i cut out dairy (1 glass of milk a day or every 2 days) including eggs and cheese (1-2 pieces of string cheese once a week if that), i still won't loose any weight even though i'm active in the gym. i mean i am seeing inches lost, and muscle weighs more then fat, but still staying 305 xD. ah my god.........stayaing under 2000 cals a a day to and hardly eating any carby stuff (fruits and veg only, no bad stuff). hummmm, any advice?
My daughter was on a weight gaining diet and most of it was keto friendly. We added 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to 8 ounces of milk for the added calories and fat. We served two whole eggs +2 yolks made in 1 tablespoon of butter. We added butter to her peanut butter and jam sandwiches. We added butter and cheese to all of the veggies. The biggest Takeaway we had from him was that we had to find ways to add a lot of calories without a lot of bulk or she would get full too fast.
Based on my personal experience, I have found that combining intermittent fasting with a keto diet yields the best results. Overindulging in any type of food, whether healthy or not, can hinder the progress of the diet. Consuming carbohydrates causes insulin levels to increase significantly more than when consuming protein or fat. As a result, lowering insulin levels takes longer. Those who eliminate carbs from their diet will enter the fat-burning state much quicker. All in all, the keto diet is an excellent option for a healthy and balanced diet.

I did Keto for about two years and I got to a point where I didn't track anything and still was very successful. I just avoided foods I knew were carbful, but otherwise I didn't track anything.
I didn't cheat much because I honestly didn't really need to?? I was so satisfied by what I was eating I didn't have any cravings really.
I know five people who claim to have been doing keto for at least 2 years and claim it doesn’t work. I ask them if they are intermittent fasting, they say they can’t do it. I ask them if they are keeping their carbs below 30 grams per day, they say they can’t do that. I ask them if they are avoiding sugars, again all say no. It’s obvious to me their mindset is the reason keto doesn’t work for them. I have been doing keto for 2 years and have lost 160 lbs. it does work if you are committed.

I was tracking everything when I first started Keto and IF. Its been a few months now and I got the hang of what I know my plate should look like. Cheat days are a rare occasion but I do it if I'm out and extremely limited in choices without ending up still hungry later. Im so close to my weight goal.

Well...I'm keeping my daily carbs under 50, and not falling for the processed "Keto" labeled foods(which are still carb heavy, even if they're much lower than what they're attempting to replace-I'm looking at you, bread....). I cook most of my own meals(including tortillas, bread and making dressings and sauces from scratch). I buy organic and pasture raised/fresh caught to avoid extra chemicals and GMOs. I only use extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil to cook, and I've utilized some really good recipes from a few excellent Keto cooking channels. I've been on Keto for 5 months and I've lost 53 pounds so far, and 3 belt notches. Keto is working for me just fine.

About the "not watching calories" thing. That started with people who were eating - and tracking - a true, balanced keto diet. If you figure macros correctly (and I advise lowering fat some from what they advise and increasing protein a bit ), and then you actually plan your food and track it, the calories will necessarily take care of themselves. Calories are set at 4 per gram of carbohydrate and protein and 9 per gram of fat. If you set macros and stick to them, then you really DON'T need to watch calories because you already, indirectly, are.
The problem started with all the "dirty" keto and people just limiting carbs and eating a lot of fat and then calling it keto. If you are only counting carbs (and cheating in them besides) and eating a lot of fat, you will definitely be consuming too many calories while also losing muscle mass and gaining weight.
People think it's too much trouble, and at first it IS a pain to plan at least a few days ahead then track and adjust during the day to stay in line or at least really close. The truth is that most of us actually eat many of the same basic things over and over with just some tweaks along the way. For instance, my three main breakfasts are baked eggs with Asiago or Parmesan cheese, an omelet (with varying toppings) and a hot sausage and cheese on biscuit (keto, of course). I will add in pancakes or waffles or a breakfast casserole on occasion. Since these are recurring items, they're easy to plug in and trade as needed to help adjust a day's macros. Same for other meals. Most of us have a handful or two of basic foods that we eat often or rework into variations, like taco meat that can be used in lots of ways. Or chili - plain, on hot dogs, topped with keto cornbread for tamale pie, etc. Or pizza - varying toppings with red or Alfredo sauce, or made as a casserole. If one thing doesn't fit, find a variation that does. Annie's video about cooking proteins ahead - like grilled chicken - and adding various sauces or seasonings or using in casseroles is a great one. Once you've been doing it awhile, you'll know which kinds of foods fit whatever space you have available in your menu or how to tweak a meal you've already planned to give you "macro space" to fit another menu item you're considering.
Just my two cents. I've been keto forever and I still plan and track 15 years later. It's so much easier now with apps like Carb Manager than it was with just a notebook and pencil (so I could erase 😂)! When I stop tracking and planning, I get into a lot of trouble with inflammation.

Okay, that IGG test is really important, especially if you have an auto-immune disease (like my rheumatoid arthritis). Inflammation is the enemy in auto-immune, so knowing what foods might trigger a flare should be important to know, and can help reduce medication dependency. VERY helpful information!
I like LMNT, but I don't get why they don't put in more potassium and magnesium like Dr Berg's drink does. I like that LMNT sells their electrolytes unflavored, unlike Berg, but they just need more electrolytes in each serving.
I lost from 237 down to 172. It works. Energy went up. Inflammation went down. If anyone just eats when they are hungry, incorporate some fasting, and never eat after 6pm, I don’t see how it doesn’t work.

I started doing keto about 3 months ago. I went for the keto snacks and honestly unless you make it yourself those are not that great on keto. If it says keto it still might not be keto. I have now switched to carnivore and I'll occasionally eat something not carnivore. I like keto brownies and thats my "cheat day" . The best tip I can give you is stay away from processed oils. Like seed oils vegtable oils and peanut oil even olive oil. Strive for Avocado oil but perferably Animal oils/ fats. Remember guys almost everything you buy has a form of these bad oils even "keto" products.
Another thing eat liver there are so many great vitamins in it. Dont over eat it though. Also don't worry about drinking water. Drink when you are thirsty thats your bodys natural response to needing water. Make sure its only water unless its for electrolytes I highly recommend the unflavored LMNT. Limit artificial sweetners. I am not saying don't eat them just limit them. I mostly don't eat them anymore personally.
Now thats out of the way. I have lost over 60 lbs im now 295. I no longer crave anything thats sweet makes me almost sick now. Sometimes i do keto browines but I don't crave it. I crave meat especially now. I don't eat dairy even cheese. I eat until i'm full. I won't lie I eat mostly at wendys and order my meals just the meat and bacon.
This is exactly where I'm at Annie. The first 42 pounds came off pretty quickly. However these last 10 pound have been horrible. Lose a pound, then gain two.
Thank you for this video. It was very info. I have had a weight stall. Though I am on Keto to keep my blood sugar low. I use to be pre-diabetic. I no longer test that way. My wife passed away from cancer a year ago. And now my daughter has treatable cancer. It’s been a tough two years.

Anywho- all of the points that you bring up are spot on- but I think one was omitted- this is an issue that I have had almost my entire life from teens on- not consuming ENOUGH calories- when we do not take enough in, ( especially those of us who have battled weight for years and years prior to going keto) our bodies begin to think that it is being starved and consequently slows the metabolism down to conserve fat and energy. I will find myself falling under a good maintenance caloric level and the weight will start to creep up... so I just watch everything that goes into my
Body and adjust from there... that is usually enough to jump start the weight loss -

You'll fall off the wagon again if it keeps being a constant worry or a chore. Don't obsess over your food so much and just replace all junk/processed foods with whole foods. It's a much easier and less restrictive way to get your insuline levels and inflamtion under control, especially when you combine it with IF and daily excercising. There's very little reliable studies that support the claims about long term keto benefits for your metabolism, it seems to mostly be about the greedy diet/lifestyle industry and social media hype machine. Keto is a Lifestyle based on a high take of healthy fats and a minimal intake of Complex Carbs.
Organic veggies are a must for the Microbiome and meat consumed should be Organic and consumed in moderation.

I had to cut out all the keto replacements, almond/coconut flour, fat bombs, etc., so I’ve stopped using your recipes. Only whole foods, mostly animal based did it for me, but still love your attitude:)

What's funny about when I craved french fries is that I really liked the salty oily crunch more than the flavor of the potatoes. Then add some ketchup to the flavor mix and it was a genuine treat.
I tossed out potatoes several months ago when I started my keto-friendly diet. But a month ago I decided to buy one spud and make some fries with my fried fish. After I finished eating them, my blood glucose shot up to 160. I ruled out the fish coating as adding to my carb count as I used coconut/almond flour with ground-up pork rinds.
Consequently, it took about 3 hours for my glucose to get back to the normal
ROUNDUP in our US ground water has also lead to a spike in Down syndrome for babies. Especially in the NE of the country. It’s pretty nasty stuff actually.
Roundup is evil and Monsanto is the devil.

Most issues we have as a species is caused by grain. When we invented agriculture and started processing grain was the start of our food related dysfunction and disease. Tell me one other animal besides ourselves and our pets who have to brush their teeth. If sugar, starch and grain rot out our teeth and cause oral disease you can guarantee they are also the source of the other issues.
I know keto is your thing, but I was recently told that I have MTHFR gene mutations c677t and a1298c and have been shocked at the percent of the population that has some variation of MTHFR. I say this because when you talk about bread and pasta it’s not just about gluten, it’s also about folic acid.
I’ve been on the keto diet for the past six months and have lost 45 pounds but within the last 30 days I haven’t lost any more weight that’s why this video has been like a lightbulb that just went off for me I was not considering all the little nibbles here and there and thought maybe the carb free beer I was drinking was OK so thank you for switching that lightbulb on for me, no more carb free beer for a while😀

Food sensitivities happen because of leaky gut. Undigested food is absorbed and the immune system sees it as something that’s foreign and attacks it. Leaky gut happens mainly because of glyphosate (patented as an antibiotic) that is in most conventionally grown foods. Organic is the way to go.
As I was editing this video, I was thinking about this and wondering if food sensitivities would disappear if we fixed our microbiome first to repaired the gut lining.

I was doing great on low carbs, but started having histamine problems. The foods that were working started giving me hives all over, sinus problems etc. I had to cut back on foods I was eating and now I am lost as to what I can eat and I am gaining. weight

My daughter-in-law went on a strict keto diet a few years ago at the urging of her new doctor. She was morbidly obese, Type 2 diabetic, and had fatty liver disease. She’s lost 100 pounds, quit using insulin, and her liver tests within normal range; however, she’s stuck at shedding her last 70 pounds due to the daily cheating ‘nibbles’. I use your recipes, in addition to others I’ve found in recipe books. One of my favorite is Mexican Keto. I’ve modified my cooking to make sure I adhere to keeping her on track when she dines at our house (BTW - we’ve never had weight issues, as we keep fit), but I’m getting tired of making special keto meals for an obvious cheater. Has anybody ever confronted a dietary cheater without shaming them?
Congratulations on how supportive & helpful you are to your DIL, it must be wonderful for her to know that you're doing what you can to help her and that she knows she can trust you & be comfortable whenever she visits. It is so hard to visit family & friends when they don't make any effort with food choices or provide temptation and that can cause someone to 'fall off the wagon' for a while. Because you've never had weight issues you really don't understand how hard it is for those of us who do and it's a very complicated topic. It is only ever up to the individual to work out what they need to do to help themselves and confronting someone even with the best intentions can easily backfire so please don't. She has already proved to herself & subsequently everyone else, that she can change her habits and she will also know what she needs to do to continue on her health journey but she may be experiencing any number of issues that you will not know about or understand. She may need to speak to a counsellor for instance to break through. Many people have not faced the problems which led to obesity & may find things becoming too uncomfortable the closer they come as they lose their 'barrier'. It may seem to be a waste of time to you to prepare keto meals but it is a healthy way of eating which hopefully ties in with your own presumably healthy lifestyle as you said you all keep fit. Keeping fit is not just about exercise as I'm sure you know but also making healthy choices with everything to do with our physical, mental, emotional, spiritual & environmental well-being, it's not just about food! I've known & worked with many people who are considered to be fit because they don't have weight issues but they've lived very unhealthy lives which were hidden from our very judgemental society. Please love, accept & continue to support your DIL for who she is and not what she looks like - that is truly the best way to help anyone, as none of us are perfect...
@@janee9890 Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Yes, my DIL has several ‘triggers’ that send her into daily comfort nibbling. When she met our son, who was raised in a very stable household, she realized that she was raised in a totally chaotic world: Dad in and out of jail/prison due to drug-related crimes; mom raising the children essentially as a single mom; parental divorce; no structure to her daily life; brother murdered on his 16th birthday….loads of trauma, and food was the only way to soothe the anxiety. She’s had a long road through therapy, and has worked hard to knit together her immediate family while over-writing the painful past. An insurance provider change through our son’s employer forced her to change physicians. She came upon a no-nonsense MD who sent her through a plethora of tests, consultations with a pulmonologist, an endocrinologist, a renal specialist, a cardiologist, etc., and then developed a closely-monitored dietary plan in conjunction with her therapist, as he was concerned about the numbers/types of anxiety & anti-depressant meds she was consuming. For the first time, she was being held accountable for her choices. I’ve learned to ‘read’ the cues when she’s overwhelmed in the moment, and I know how to distract her from invasive thoughts; however, it’s been her MD and therapist who’ve helped her truly take control. What she craves is having her family members take accountability for their actions when she was a child; however, the most acknowledgement she receives is (I’m paraphrasing here), “That’s in the past, let’s move on and forget about it, because we can’t change the past.” She’s also dealing with cultural issues that have allowed male family members to get a ‘free pass’ for their choices. We’ve raised 2 of our own children. I didn’t think I would need to be mothering/mentoring my DIL. I continue to encourage her weight loss journey by using good keto-centered meals, often sharing the recipes of items she found to be especially delicious. It’s frustrating to hear that her family makes zero effort, always conveniently forgetting about her journey. Maybe I’m simply more frustrated with them than I am with her nibble ‘cheating’.
@@probablynot1368 Man were you (& your family) sent into your DILs life for a reason! She is seriously lucky to have your support & care and huge kudos to her for all her efforts. Many times (morbid) obesity comes from traumatic experience(s). I can tell from what you've written that she still has issues with her family including accepting that her childhood was not the happy carefree experience most of us expected. She also appears to need to deal with her mother not providing her with the love & attention that she expected her to. I'm not saying her mother didn't love her or provide the best care she was able to give, it just may not have been what your DIL thought a mother should be like.
I do speak again from extensive experience including my own. My mother loved me and did her absolute best for me but couldn't understand how or why I did anything because I was so different to her, plus I was sexually abused as a child by my oldest brother which she would never believe. She couldn't seem to remember that I needed to not eat certain foods (eg) gluten when the Drs thought I was coeliac!
I had to work through all that & it was only after yet another huge fight about my weight that I suddenly realised my mother could not provide what I had always needed her to provide & that I had to find it within myself. Talk about a light bulb moment! After many years of hard work, I managed to get our relationship to change from constant fighting to being peaceful & me accepting & thanking her for all that she did and helping her understand my highly sensitive body & life.
I constantly research & have found many interacting factors with obesity especially with insulin resistance & diabetes, even with the connection to depression and so many other linked conditions. It's extra-ordinary what scientists & health professionals are discovering! Dr Eric Berg is one of my favourites.
Again I commend you for your ongoing efforts, love & support (and frustration with her disfunctional functional family), I hope the future is much brighter and peaceful for you all. 🥰

Hi there love your videos sometimes it’s a little hard to keep up with you though trying to jot things down and it’s hard to catch up to you. Anyways I have a question for you regarding electrolytes. Why is it hard to put electrolytes in sparkling waters, for instance, mixing the electrolytes and it’s freezing out to the point where it overflows the glass. Looking forward to your reply and thank you for all your work with the keto diet know your recipes.

I noticed that too with electrolytes and sparkling waters. I’m not sure what the science is behind it. I just carefully stir a little bit in when I’ve done it before.
I do believe sometimes those anti-bodies may indicate genuine intolerances, if it's a food that isn't regularly in your diet or the values are very very high. But I've read that for the most part the IgG results simply reflect how often you eat those foods and don't indicate anything pathological.
Inflammation...those of us with autoimmune disease (psoriasis in my case) are finding that the keto diet can actually spur flares, especially if you are religiously going into ketosis. Then there's NAFLD... I have found that instead of labeling my food choices as Keto or not, I have simply made better ingredient choices and am losing weight. Stopped regular sugar (soda, both reg. & diet), fast food except grilled chicken (no fries) and switched to whole grain/nuts/seeds wheat bread (Dave's Killer Bread). It's more of a mindset - Since quitting sugar, I actually feel full longer.
That’s wonderful! I’m glad you found what works for you. I’ve been hearing more and more who don’t do straight keto anymore, but more of a hybrid or just eat meals low carb or low sugar and more whole food/real ingredient approach.
@sharon94503 I totally agree with your point of view. I feel no diet is perfect. Why? Because no two humans are the same. Physically or genetically. And sugar is definitely a killer. It causes cancer a well known fact. Processed food isn't doing you any good either.

For the most part, failure is because everyone tries to make "keto version" of their favorite trigger foods and tend to overeat them. This usually leads to cheating back for "flavor" purposes, too many "fat bombs" which our brains see as sweet and trigger responses that resist fat burning. Diet drinks and powdered sugar replacements contain maktodextrine, which has double the glycemic index of sugar, which is 65. Maltodextrine's index is 110! It is made from GMO Corn and causes serious weightloss stifling when we ingest it.

I found out I have histamine intolerance to bacon and pork rinds which was causing chronic inflammation and completely stalled my metabolism. I cut both those things out and I’m back on track, although it does SUCK at least I know what it is.

It took me a year to give up dairy. I wish I had done it sooner. I would’ve felt better. Plus, with all the vegans, they’re making some really good tasting vegan cheeses. Not the same as cows, milk cheese, but still good. I had a gluten-free cheese free pizza at a pizza parlor recently and it was delicious.
Yes, the dairy free cheese has come a long way!! So has the gluten free products.
In the last 3 weeks we have been attending a trivia game at a pizza place and I have been eating lots of gluten. The next morning I have been waking up with a migraine.
"The carb creep" isn't a problem with the keto diet, it's a problem with self control. Don't knock the diet because of that.
aahhhh the carb creep. I do track them and I tell myself it’ll be ok if it’s under 50gs of carbs but I wanted to commit myself to strict Keto. But sometimes I grab a little too much of something whatever

You say calories matter but when keto is 70%+ fat you're going to get through those calories. I've been trying low cal for a short while now and having to lower so many mainstays of the keto diet means I've had to chose one or the other. I'm staying with the low cal but still keeping carbs low as well and gradually letting more fat back into my diet because frankly low cal is unsustainable for me long term.
i did keto for weightloss, first 4 months, 42 pounds lost down to 209.. stuck at 209 for 6 months, started keto/ high protein, 3 months no weightloss. then one day dropped my calories, wham now down to 203 an still losing... now doing under 20g of carbs,,
careful to cause you can be loosing muscle in the process......(muscle weighs more then fat)

Would gluten even show up on one of the food sensitivities test if I don’t eat it? I’m highly gluten sensitive so I don’t eat it. I’ve heard that you’re supposed to eat it for like 6 weeks prior to some tests to get an accurate result. But it affects me so bad that there’s no way I could do that. Lol. Just wondering. I know you’re gluten sensitive also and it showed up on your test. This is all great info.
My husband, who Should be on keto, just loves his deep fried French fries and unfortunately, they taste good! So whenever he has it, i cant help it; I've got to taste them, but i keep it to a limit of 3 fries, and I'm super picky on which one i pick. Did you know there's close to 1g of carbs in every single Thin restaurant fry? Insane!

I have lost so much weight on Keto I concerns me that maybe I have some sort of hidden cancer. 1/4 of my body weight in two years. My blood work all looks good, but the thought is, what if the right test has not been run. Most likely paranoia. I do feel pretty good and often get complimented about all the stuff I do at my age (68).

After my heart attack is when I learned the most about nutrition and hormones, insulin resistance etc. We follow similar paths now with eating and life choices. But knowing that you are / were a pharmacist says it all. That was my path to destruction. I am retired early and healthier and happier.
keto stopped working on me 2 yrs ago. i eat very clean though but still can't loose weight, 2 months ago i started at the gym to only weight lift to bulk up (female body building). according to ur vid here, i'd have to completely stop all dairy. AHHhhhh lol. but ya even if i cut out dairy (1 glass of milk a day or every 2 days) including eggs and cheese (1-2 pieces of string cheese once a week if that), i still won't loose any weight even though i'm active in the gym. i mean i am seeing inches lost, and muscle weighs more then fat, but still staying 305 xD. ah my god.........stayaing under 2000 cals a a day to and hardly eating any carby stuff (fruits and veg only, no bad stuff). hummmm, any advice?
My issue is that I am underweight. I need to gain and the diet makes it challenging.
My daughter was on a weight gaining diet and most of it was keto friendly. We added 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to 8 ounces of milk for the added calories and fat. We served two whole eggs +2 yolks made in 1 tablespoon of butter. We added butter to her peanut butter and jam sandwiches. We added butter and cheese to all of the veggies. The biggest Takeaway we had from him was that we had to find ways to add a lot of calories without a lot of bulk or she would get full too fast.

How to be eating healthy and put on weight? I am on keto and I am loosing too much weight which I can't afford. Too skinny!
Based on my personal experience, I have found that combining intermittent fasting with a keto diet yields the best results. Overindulging in any type of food, whether healthy or not, can hinder the progress of the diet. Consuming carbohydrates causes insulin levels to increase significantly more than when consuming protein or fat. As a result, lowering insulin levels takes longer. Those who eliminate carbs from their diet will enter the fat-burning state much quicker. All in all, the keto diet is an excellent option for a healthy and balanced diet.
