Hey my name is Carl, or Dozer the farmer.
Thank you for watching my content; just message me on RUclips and I’ll try my best to answer. I am here to show you the day to day running of a Kiwi (New Zealand) dairy farm.
We milk 260 cows at peak and run 2 beef blocks that support the farm with silage and letting the young calves graze up at the run offs. Grandad runs one and Dad live on the other.
I started RUclips on the 4th of April 2022 with the idea to show everyone what life and the day to day running of a farm in NZ is like with the hope that people get a better understanding of where milk comes from and one of the families that love doing it.

Yea he’s pretty quick mate.
He used to cart wheels right up till he turned 45.
In a sprint we are neck and neck for 20mtrs.
Then I pull away.

What do u spray on the milking parlour walls and floor to clean them
Hey mate.
We use hypo or xy12 or c3. All basically the same thing to get algae, lichen, and cow crap off the walls looking clean.
We use 3/15 rate atm.
Once it’s under control we go to a 1/15 rate for weekly cleans if we get time.

Why have you decided to use milk powder this year?

We worked out that 100l of milk was worth more than 100l of milk powder mixed up.
Farmgate milk price would need to be below $8.5 for us to use the vat over the milk powder at the current milk powder and milk price.
Do you not routinely foot trim?
Hey mate.
We trim the cows that start to have hoof issues. But we do need to be more onto those who have issues starting.

Regardless of where they are.
Dad goes and gets them at 4. So if there close 3:05 or far 3:40. Just depends.
I like to have at least be half way by 4.

why do udders get wet?
Hey mate.
We wet the udders to keep them from getting cracked, get them clean before milking, also it stimulates there udders so they know they are about to get milked. Just what we prefer to do.
