My dad just hit 300,000 miles on his 1996 4Runner. Not once EVER has the check engine light come on. Still runs and sounds like the day he bought back in 1996. These really will last forever.
Harris Anwar hahaha let me tell you something buddy boy, cars don't have to be fast to sound good, and you think that your public opinion is all right and your a know it all well get real and ready because I'm not some money spending maniac who drives crap!
Unfortunately, yes. There is an air assist component on the brakes and this is probably what causes affected owners to hate their brakes as much as they do. I noticed this early on but it took a few years to realize that the brakes were (almost) total crap. They work fine at speeds under 40 but if you need to slow down over 40, the front end nose dives and there is little to no modulation in the brakes from foot on to them actually grabbing. I know its not a Mercedes SLR with ceramic brakes and can stop from 120 to 0 in the space most cars need from 60. There are hundreds of web threads that talk about this exact issue. Some folks replaced the brake lines with steel lines and say it helped some since the lines couldn't expand and lose a few pounds per inch of pressure. I think it's just that Toyota decided to not do anything about it since the brakes do work but the experience goes from needing the brakes to panic stop more times that I am comfortable with because of this lack of modulation. I've had them checked by Toyota a few times during my scheduled maintenance stops and a few of the mechanics have said it as well but I'm sure it goes against any Toyota training they received.
Turn the eco mode off. It slows the 4Runner down. Only time i have used the eco on my 2011 was on a long trip, didn’t really notice a difference in fuel mileage just some lost in performance.
If it's possible, could you please do more supercar POV test drives? I really love these videos, but I gotta say I don't really enjoy SUVs or ordinary cars that much.
I know the styling on this new 4runner is taking some flak, but I love it. It looks tough but not like the designers were trying too hard to make it look that way *cough* 2007 Pathfinder *cough*.

Toyota makes some great SUV's, I can't drive a 1/2 mile down the road without at least seeing one of these in my neighborhood..lol
This 4.0L V6 sounds like just about every car on Forza motorsport 2.
It's not the fastest , the fanciest , or the most luxurious , but the best truck in the world , proudly own one.
This is the best sounding engine ever!
Nick Gosline Actually that would be the aston martin V12 vantage s
Harris Anwar all I was giving was my opinion
You think a Toyota has the best sounding engine ever? LMAO LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

+Nick Gosline I love Toyota but this is definitely not the best sounding engine. Stingray 6.2.
i love that beeping sound when you start the car
windingroadmagazine...where have you been all my life?!
when you press on the brake i heard a swoosh sound. is that normal for 2013 4runner?

Dude, stop the vehicle before you shift!
is it true that when you fully fill the tank it tilt to one side :\ ? and the bumpers get scratched very easy ?

Eco mode does not affect performance whatsoever it is simply a light that comes on when driving efficiently
How is the acceleration and handling?
Do you think you can make on of these but of an audi a4 allroad?
Is this the same engine in the FJ ?
its the same sound !!
The same 4.0 lts V6 :)
Eduardo Valencia Q. Actualy they are different! Different bore and stroke! Check it out in the specs at toyota.com
When you test SUVs you may try to give even a short drive on some offroad roads

Is the whine sound normal for the 4runner and stuff. Mine whines like it has a supercharger.
My 2014 limited whines under acceleration from 2000 rpms and on.
