Soy curls (aka ''Butler Soy Curls'') are made from the entire soybean, so they are considered to be some kind of a whole-food (maybe in the same category with tempeh and tofu). All the other products that look similar, like texturized soy/vegetable protein have different nutrition, taste, texture, etc. I hope that some day I will have access to Butler Soy Curls because I heard they are amazing.
@@lakedog7313 Thank you for the reply. 🙏 I live in Europe, so I would have to pay pretty much for the shipping and taxes. Someday, I will order some, to pamper myself. I deserve some vegan goodies. =)) Cheers.
Useful tried and tested recipe. If I had a dehydrator I'd definitely make this. I've got the same soy sauce in the cupboard.... just random info there.
If you own a toaster oven, swap it out for a toaster oven with a dehydrate setting (or check, your toaster oven may have a dehydrate mode) If you have a normal pop up toaster sitting around - I cant recommend a good toaster oven enough. It can air fry, dehydrate, bake and toast. Swap that lame pop up toaster out for a good toaster oven.
Yum! These look delish. Annie's brand Worcestershire sauce is also vegan!! How long do these last in a tupperware? I definitely want to make! 🤤 Thanks for the recipe!
I posted a pic of my Annie’s brand on discord when he mentioned that. It’s the only brand I’ve ever bought. I don’t even know what the non vegan ones taste like.
Sounds delicious, I must try to make this recipe. There is another vegan brand of the unpronounceable sauce and is 365 by Whole Foods Market, Organic Sauce, Worcestershire, 5 Fl Oz. It does say vegan in the back of the bottle.
This looks like a great recipe for jerky. It looks like the Louisville brand.I love vegan jerky but I've never made it before. I definitely want to make this. I don't have a dehydrator yet but I'm gonna get one soon. Thanks for this awesome video Chris 👌🙂🌱
@@trinivegan7649 yeah I love Louisville too but i agree it really is expensive, I think the last time I bought a bag it was $5.99 and the bags are only 3oz
I've only ever found soy curls on Amazon. Emm, vegan jerky. 100X better than what I remember jerky tasting like. I'll have to make this again soon. Thanks for the recipe 🙂
I know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Jairo Markus thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I love jerky but I don't like that I can eat and $8 bag in 3 minutes lol I've been wanting a dehydrator but I haven't found a reasonably priced one that doesn't have reviews about the racks cracking.
I researched to determine what I wanted, then kept ear to the ground for a second hand one. Since then I have picked up an instant pot duo crisp which also has a dehydration setting. That is good for small batches, while the dehydrator I found is good for larger batches.
Chris, there are a few. Robbie's Vegan Worcestershire sauce, The Wizard's Organic Vegan Worcestershire sauce, and a few others I can't think of. The Wizard's product, is one of the oldest.
I wonder if we seal them up in Mylar bags with a fresh pack if it would be good a few months later? I meant to buy a bulk box a couple years ago but forgot. Definitely need to make this!!
How is the Wright's liquid smoke not vegan? The only 2 ingredients are water and natural hickory smoke concentrate and if you Google it, the company confirms that the product is vegan as is the process.
This is why I should listen or read all ingredients before attempting. I watched the first part of the video and said I have all those items and I was needing to use up some curls I had around. I was following and making with the video then he said one tablespoon of orange juice. I just ate my last orange last night and no juice in the house, then a light went off. I have mandarin oranges. So I used my small processor and made the oranges into juice ( I would have subbed apple juice if I had some but didn’t) Next challenge was vegan bar b Que sauce, hmmm oh yeah I made some the other day for jackfruit and had a cup in the refrigerator. BAM problem solved. Well almost, your dehydrator is different. I have a tower one and if I put the paper in it, it covers the hole in the middle! Hello scissors, BANG. But there’s isn’t a temperature knob and I have no idea where my book is. Oven low setting, dehydrator low setting. Set my kitchen timer at 1 1/2 hours and going to check to see how they are doing. I’ll let you know how they come out. Thanks for sharing
This came out delicious even substitutions and tower dehydrator. I had to remove the parchment paper and play with the temperature but it came out great.
Kroger brand Worcestershire sauce is vegan. Has to be the Kroger brand tho. I'm assuming since Kroger and King Soopers are one in the same sister stores that their's would be vegan also? Just read the label to make sure there's no anchovies. I'm allergic to fish so this was something we found years before I went vegan.
How funny .. I just made these a few days ago (low & slow in the oven/no dehydrator). They were delicious! 😋 Although, I have to say .. yours look way better. 👍🏻

This question is waaaaaaaay off subject. In fact, it has nothing to do with this video, but I need help from Chris, or from anyone else who can offer help. Chris did a video at least a couple of years back about a shoe store in NY that sells vegan shoes. I am in need of vegan steel toe shoes, and shoes that preferably aren’t made in China or any other country that eats dogs and cats. Does anyone know of any stores that sell vegan steel toe shoes or boots, and has a website? There are several online shoe stores that hVe vegan steel toe shoes, but, so far, for the companies that have responded to my inquiries, their shoes are made in China, and they ship to your house from China, and I would like to avoid China at all costs.

I love this video. Cooking videos take me back to the older days of this channel.
Annie’s, Wan Ja Shan and Thrive also make vegan Worcestershire sauce. If you can’t find a vegan one, you could use A-1 for a similar taste.
Looks fantastic, Chris. Thank-you so much for making this video and sharing the recipe with us!
I make a batch of “chicken” soup with the soy curls every week!! I bet these are super tasty that way! Going to need to try this one👍🏼👍🏼
Soy curls not in the UK! (We’re not worthy!) Cheapest I found online: 1 x 8oz bag $12.99 + $ 13.89 postage from USA!
