Yes they will fly home and get an easy path to citizenship. My wife came here legally we have spent hours filling out forms...paying fees and submitting documents to immigration. And our green card interview was anything but cordial. We are awaiting a decision. Yet all of the attention is being paid to these law breakers and how can we help them. Either its their US based relatives borrowing money to pay the smugglers, or also some sell or mortgage their small house or any land they may have...either way, many go into debt that's for sure. $5000 is alot of money in those countries (even more than a years salary for most of them) with that money I will rather start a small buisness or do anything in my country instead of paying a smuggler, and knowing not even then its a guarentee you make it into the US, because if caught you will most likely be sent back, and all that money you payed a smuggler goes down the drain.

Mode of transportation we used was via airplane btw. 19 hrs.flying time traversing Pacific ocean. It'd be unfair for us(those who underwent a tedious process) for the govt to just accept people who seek asylum here in U.S.without any screening process. Just saying. @ P Cal, paying everyone a “living wage” will not elevate anyone because everything else would go up in expenses also. Furthermore, if you want better in life then you learn a skill that’ll earn you more money and not depend of someone paying you your current wage rate per hour. The minimum wage or living wage argument is really more about doing what you need to do to get a better job. It’s like people who say that they should get 15/hr flipping burgers at Burger King but that really doesn’t address their underlying issues in their financial lives. If you really want to make more money you keep your current job and learn/develop a new skill on the side and move up that way. Simply depending on a federal government mandate of 15 an hour is not going to dramatically improve your living condition. The burden is still on you to learn a more marketable job skill that allows you to make more money!

In reality, immigrants pay in far more than they take out. In many cases, undocumented immigrants will pay into all of the social programs out of their paychecks (federal and state income tax, social security and Medicare), but will never receive the benefit upon retirement.

He gave amnesty to people residing in the US and when he did that Congress promised to come up with a comprehensive immigration policy. It has never happened and it's just a political football for so many reasons. There are huge factory farms in the Mid West that work with coyotes to bring young people in to the country to work for them. They have their slaves. Who's going to complain? If they have relatives to be placed with, then place. Melania brought her parents and sister in. The same chain migration that Donald railed about.

Its not easy, in the video the reporter said that some have to wait up to 2 years in Mexico, in tents, before they can get asylum and that doesn't mean they are full citizens that just means they can stay here until there country is safe again as refugees with limited rights (they can't vote and don't get access to as many social programs.)

I’m Mexican American and this is so sad and disappointing. This is the worst time to come over here. American citizens here are struggling and dealing with this pandemic. Biden should work in pressuring the government in the countries of these people to help their own people and decrease the dangers they face when they cross over the border. There are also thousands of people waiting to come here legally and waiting for the process to move and it’s not fair to those who wait that people that come here illegally get help first.
