    Many here will know, but for those who might not, "Fat Time" was what Miles called guitarist Mike Stern. Later on, Mike was thinner and then was simply called "Time", according Mike Stern in an interview.

    Even though he weighed twice as much as he does today, Mike Stern never played as good as he did in those years in the band with Miles.

    Absolutely beautiful. How does he just push those notes out of the trumpet? It's like his notes take on their own shape and change at will. It's like his sound is subtle and delicate one moment, and then comes out blasting his notes out with impeccable clarity. The one-of-a-kind timing of Miles Davis is legendary. He talked about what his thoughts were on the subject in an interview once. It's like he hits you when you least expect it. Like my cats, striking at you hard and fast right out of the clear blue. You NEVER see it coming!

      Also.. how does he do it in that position with his neck in a down position . I would think it's impossible to blow notes out of a trumpet with that body posture.

    • @stratoleft
      @stratoleft 4 месяца назад

      @@edgartellez4394 The situation is, that you don't know. Neither you, or anybody else, knows what provokes the position where you get the most dynamics and comfort. Would some pianists get a better view of the keyboard on the piano standing up? Whose idea was it to make a bench to sit at while playing piano to begin with? What compensations for holding the trumpet low in this position, allows this? Answer: you don't know. Neither does anybody else.

    Somebody said this one day, and i caught it a long time ago, but never stated it myself... I love how the live versions and concerts taped can came out as totally different songs like alternate takes that didnt make the cut, which i could see happening too- when you go back and see the many takes on the complete jack johnson project.. Probably keep the reels going, play through it, that s*** expensive. 😂😂😂😂 legendary, before my time, but i love it i dont care. Listen to the 40-80s era over alot of modern day stuff
