There's a Gary Bartz sax solo just b4 this that totally smokes. Would recommend searching out the audio boot. The Michael Henderson bassline that underpins the song changed every night on this Fall '71 tour of Europe.
I freaking love this jam. Keith kills it. The band is on fire. Totally feeling it. I think it's even better than anything from the Isle of Wight performance. It has more patience, with lots of melodic, colorful chords mixed in with the funk. so deep
Great music, from a wonderful band. Back in the day not every Miles fan dug this stuff but I think there are a lot more out there, like me, who can't hear enough of it.
Miles had Keith seeking a sound different from the electric piano sound by utilizing the intersection of piano and organ to forge the technique Keith would later used in his solo piano concerts.Keith was playing like a god and found the niche he was comfortable with and trusted the artistic merits of his resolve to solve the artistic problems Miles created for him. They were an unique tantrum .
Wonder-full performance. 3:56 to 4:20 - I recall seeing THAT snippet of footage in a documentary (Miles Ahead, narrated by Oscar Brown Jr, 1986). That little section is magical and it's been in my head ever since. I love Michael Henderson's bass, it's almost a reggae approach. The chords Keith Jarrett plays to compliment Miles. Some of those notes Miles plays have all the poignancy and nuance of the way he would play ballads in an earlier era. Only the setting has changed. Thank you for the upload.
That little line he plays at 3:55-4:00 & 5:00-5:04 --- remember him playing that at like 11:30 in "Spanish Key" on the album as that dark section builds up --- love the recurrences
It's like before Allan Holdsworth (probably the greatest electric guitar player) decides to play the synthaxe (a new sound), Miles was trying to give the trumpet a new sound to the world within his music. The critics could never understand it. Miles to Wayne: When Miles and I talked, he would ask me a question. 'Wayne (in his voice), hey Wayne -- do you ever get tired of playing music that sounds like music?' Before I answered him, he said, 'I know what you mean.'
If Miles was a football coach he would've won the World Cup by a handball. He was what Maradona was to Music. A total MASTER. Skill, Innovation, Genius.
Miles is exploring terrain that only the High Priests of our communities attained. Western theology creates settings that through outward searches for meaning one can find God., Miles demonstrated through his intense and personal searches of who and what he was the God that he sought was always an integral part of his being.Realization of God comes through fully gaining control and power over the essential ingredients that define each and everyone of us as creatures of unlimited creative potential and it Is through this understanding that we can then focus on the true mysteries of life. Magic is acquired by channeling the byproducts of the journey into a self-fulfilling expose’ of the unique genius and indomitable creative spirit which reveals the God quotient that is our constitutional make-up.The Witch Doctor leads the blind until they can negotiate what lies before them.
Keith should let his music do the talking, not his ridiculous histrionics. He is an outstanding player; I own several of his trio and solo CDs, but I am quite frankly disturbed by his 'grunting...' at least I can't SEE him!
We need the few minutes before with the (also epic) Gary Bartz moment!!
Miles qnd Keith Jarret! MARVELOUS! 2 GENIUS!

Yes, I think it's on the Jazz Video Guy channel.
If Keith Jarrett had to go into those contortions in order to produce that incredible music so be it.
This is a great concert.

I know the whole concert is better. It's a little more intimate.

Only 16,000 views??? For The Greatest American Artist, to date, any form. His body of work over 6 decades is unmatched
The bitter truth .... although still breaking ground
these fellas seem to know what they are doing

Great close-ups... of Miles, that is! they help us share the intensity even more.
I loooove it ! Great Gig !!!
Outstanding stuff right there!
Top of their game...amazing performance
the original was on 'Silent Way' of course, but it morphed a lot between then and this gig.
"It's about that time" - they changed the bassline.

Mclaughlin is the greatest overall guitarist (acoustic & electric), Holdsworth is the greatest electric guitar player.
Beautiful thanks
Stone cold righteous.
Jarret volandose como siempre .

What is the name of this song? i've been trying to find this but i don't even know what it could be.
It’s a Lawrence welk tune
5:00 - 5:13
0:29 5:35
E basta
Thousand of horn players as good maybe better. F that narcissis. The only reason they give him attention is that's all they think there is.

What's that breed making funny face for drama ?
Nope.
Keith Jarrett’s “guitar face” adds nothing to the conversation here. Keyboard is busy going nowhere. This band was destined to morph.
Is Miles' trumpet amplified from the mouthpiece? That seems odd.
