Man this band had it all. Stage presence. The look. No one else sounds like them at all. Legit like a southern style Dillinger with more structured songs and clean vox. But again with that southern riff twist. I wonder why they never signed to such a major label. These guys truly did it for the heart. Fun fact the guitarist(big boy) is known as the butcher and made a succesful career out of professional wrestling.

i remember listening to this song after some marching band competition sitting next to my HS hottie girlfriend and just jamming out. I thought, and still think, this song is killer. Needless to say she's incredibly successful, a fantastic person, and maintains strong healthy relationships. And I'm a 30 year old man that pisses into gallon water jugs until they're full. I live with my parents and drink alcohol to excess. Remeber kids, this is what will happen to you if you listen to ETID. You'll end up just like me.

I drowned my conscience and cast another stone.
I took to preaching while dancing on the coals.
I can't see where I've been, and only God knows where I'll be,
But there must be a place for the wretch like me.
Oh, Lord knows I'm tired, but I won't rest my head until I'm home.
And if my hands find themselves another body, well, you can't blame them for trying to keep warm.
Morals are simply a matter of time.
And where you lay your head's a question of pride.
But when it's said and done, you'll find it in the lines
That privilege and wit made me misfortune's child.
Can't tell collapse that it needs to slow down.
Can't tell death that it shouldn't come around.
And when they take my head and put it on a stake,
I know the guilt and disgrace keep the dead man awake.
Bartering your figure for a paralyzing love.
    What have you done?
I took the scaffold and laughed until I fell.
Girl, if you need me, grab another from the well.
I can't imagine what hell might have in store,
But I know if I'm there I won't wander anymore.
Oh, Lord knows I'm tired, but I won't rest my head until I'm home.
And if my hands find themselves another body, well, you can't blame them for trying to keep warm.
Oh, Lord knows I'm weak, but I can't clear my head if I'm asleep.
We've lived under this dark cloud forever.
Waiting for the bad luck to break.
Just let me try that one again.
    With a little more feeling.
We slept at the crossroads together.
Trying to make an honest mistake.
Just let me try that one more time.
Without a smile on my face.
Another road is empty as every promise is.
If life is pointless, then point taken.
    Say amen.
    So light another candle.
Put my body out to sea because your heart is no place for a wretch like me.
Another stranger passing, a common dissonance.
If life is pointless, then point taken.
    Say amen.
    So light another candle.
Put my body out to sea because your side is no place for a wretch like me.
When they unearth these passages, will I appear to be proud?
Not if you're listening close enough.
Not if you're sounding it out.

Shit was absolutely bonkers, there were people lining up next to the stage to crowd surf back to back, I stood in front of Kieth and sang the lyrics to this song back at him before diving backward off stage. Same here:( I did really like The Big Dirty when it first dropped but save for a song or two off NJA and Ex Lives, I just wasn't really digging anything before or after The Big Dirty. Recently, my old bandmates decided to get together and jam some metal. They sent me a list of covers to learn and Wanderlust+The New Black were on there. I built them both click tracks (for the cowbell/shaker/tambourine/DROPS) and had to learn them from the ground up. I am happy to announce that at nearly 30, I finally get ETID! As a drummer, there is no feeling comparable to unloading on the part at 1:01.

I just feel like they are redefining rock and roll. They aren't afraid to experiment on each new record. Also, the combination of yelled and cleaner vocals just strikes me as Zeppelin-esque.
