  • Paulo loves to grow Pak Choi at his homestead but has found for a supposed ‘easy and quick vegetable to grow you can wrong!
Pak Choi needs a rich well drained soil in full sun and actually benefits from a cool, humid environment. Paulo often finds that growing them in the polytunnel early on in the season is the most successful way to do it.
The undercover environment allows for humidity and they seem to love a consistently moist soil. This maybe why they are grown in fertile river valleys in China.
Paulo explains they are a close relative of the Brassaca family which is obvious from the seed. He suggests therefore growing it as a cross between the lettuce and the cabbage and you should not go far wrong.
In this video Paulo sows Pak Choi from seed, grows them on, plants them in the polytunnel and shows you later clips of them ready to harvest.

This is one of my absolute favorite vegetables, it’s so great in stir fry and soups and grilled too! 😋😋 you have convinced me to grow my own, I will have to find some seeds for sure. Thanks for all the tips! I was dying laughing at “I’ll look at them and know what they are..NO label them!” That’s sooo true 🤣

I'm the same about labeling! Haha!
I say, ohhhh, I'll remember what I've planted in this pot. Nope.
Or my essential oil blends, "I'll remember what oils I've used, and for what purpose".
Nope. I forget, each and every time!

S9enny, The Tomato video I am doing I started in March when I sowed them and I am filing as they grow through to cropping. I think the best and most useful videos on here do this so there will be a flux of this kind of content in late summer. I know the things are growing like crazy at the moment. I like to raid the wives tight draw and tie them up with shreds of them. this stops the tie restricting the plant as it grows......But I do get a slapped head when I do this !!!!
