Thanks Matt - good timing. Just started getting them and wasn’t sure what to do. I was just about to put down PGR after the lawn has fully recovered from renovation so good to know PGR will do the trick. 👍

Glad it was helpful!! It’ll take a few goes of PGR to combat seed heads. It’s not instant but it will help.

    Good advice matt.
Last season i was going for a target of 250 growing degree days and actually sometimes spraying when it got to around 280 to 300. Sometimes work and weather got in the way of the target.
This season i put the first app of primo maxx down 2 weeks ago at 30 ml per 100 on blue and common couch mix. Quite a strong dose i know. Tightened the lawn up nice though. Will back it down to 20ml per 100 next app.
    Sharp blades and mow often.
    Im mowing around 11mm.

Cheers. It's always frustrating when you have that good recovery and then seed head show up. Grr. 20mls/100 of PGR is going pretty hard!

Yeah it was a solid hit. The next week the GDD value is nearly 20 per day. 5 days will be 100 GDD plus the 66.2 value I have already since 25 Nov. nuts!!

Hey Matt, do you have any resources you could link that give you PGR dosage guides for Tiftuf? The Astro PGR label is quite vague and at certain grass height specifications it sometimes doesn’t even list hybrid couch. Essentially I’d like to know what is the minimum and maximum rates for tiftuf when cut to around 6mm

Based on my personal experiences I’d say 4-15mL for 6mm. While I’m new to it myself, I recommend downloading the Sygenta Turf Advisor application and set your Growing Degree Days to 200 and the app will track. When you are near 200 it’ll be time for a reapplication but bear in mind you’ll still have residual PGR in the system around 200 GDD.
I am find better control however basically it’s converted my monthly PGR to. Fortnightly dose.
Assuming an October reno, you can start a November PGR schedule.
      1st appointment- 4mL per 100m2
      2nd app - 8mL
      3rd app - 15mL
      4th app - 10mL
      5th app - 15mL
      6th app - 10mL
      7th app - 12mL
      8th app - 6mL
This regime is what I’ll be doing, just at a little higher level because I’m growing a bit taller than you. Notice the up/down 15/10mL - that is because of the residual and the drop at the tail end is late Feb to allow the release of PGr to be quicker so I’m good for a late season renovation.
      Hope that helps

Matt, this issue has been widespread for a long time and I don't know what you're suggesting to rectify it.
It's almost as if you want us to watch your 'other vid' instead.
There's no science or advice other than 'it happens, just watch out for it'.

@@diggo19 I’m sorry for the confusion. I sometimes know what I mean and don’t explain it too well.
Seed heads are a normal part of the life of the lawn and appear with the changes in weather, usually around this time of year.
Mowing and constant use of PGR can help lessen them by producing less seed heads and a lower height. Mowing them over kind of is the other part of the equation but sometimes, even with all the precautions, nature finds a way. You’ll see them in my lawn in tomorrows vid.
