  • For today's review we're looking at Lylat Wars, known as Star Fox 64 in North America and developed by Nintendo for the N64 in 1997, bringing Fox McCloud and company into the world of full 3D, but is it any good?

    I’ve only gotten to the water level once and have never gotten the asteroid belt hidden path.
    Also getting medals from the campaign unlocks features in multiplayer which I thought was neat, gave incentive to keep trying to enjoy it more with your friends.

    Braking while fighting Andross' face is the trap. Boosting will push you away from his mouth a hell of a lot easier.

    My entire experience with Star Fox was all the sweaty SSB Melee players who mained Fox or Falco when I was a kid.
    I should really get into it one of these days

      Fun fact: Starfox 64 was actually the prequel Super Smash Bros Melee; Sakurai saw Fox McCloud flying the arwing and said "yeah, that guy should be able to waveshine out of shield into jab upsmash to kill confirm at about 80%"

    A classic game, a fave of mine since childhood. It was also my first Star Fox game, so I had no idea the Lylat language is actually there for those who played the previous game on SNES. Interesting pointers I've noticed from your review:
    This is one of those games where the manual is important. Not only did it really help me with the controls, but it also [mostly] tells you the hidden objectives [like getting 100 hits in Sector Y to continue the hard route] and total scores to get a medal in each level. I also hope you can try Sector Y again, as doing the hard route on Aquas and Zoneness afterwards is a blast.
    If you keep Peppy alive at the end of the Hard Andross boss fight, he notices Fox is distracted [because of seeing 'Ghostdad' but Peppy does not know that] and tries to comfort him.
    Til next time...Hey Einstein, I'm on your side! Do a barrel roll!

    • @Vakantscull
      @Vakantscull  2 года назад +1

      I tried a few times to get the hard finish for sector y, you really need to be hammering those point to reach that goal as it's quite a short level! will get it down somefay though ;)

    This is my favorite game in a franchise I love. Though I have a soft spot for the original because I got it a few months after getting my SNES. I wish they would make a new one for Switch but I doubt that will happen since Zero didn't do well from what I understand. Probably due to the controls. After trying it I had a few nightmares about trying to fly a real ship with the controls.
