    Wargame Red Dragon is a live 4chan board with everyone interested in geopolitics. It also has a weird RTS minigame.

    I watched the advanced gamplay guide like 2 months ago and I must say, that video actually helped me understand the game, make my own decks and most importantly - be confident enough to PLAY MULTIPLAYER! Now I'm 150 games in the game with 60% win.I applaud every pro player that tries to give us insight on the game and I sure hope you give us more tips on how to be good at it.
    If I can put a request it will be to share some tactics on how to play artillery or defend from it. It seems a lot of pro players abuse it and sometimes it's hell. I'm trying my best, but I feel I'm missing something.

      Welcome to my Ted talk.
      Imo there's only 2 real ways to defend against artillery. (If anyone knows another way I'd like to hear it)
      1: counter artillery. This usually requires some knowledge on the artillery pieces in game (fire rate, shots in a salvo, movement speed), both to choose your artillery and to make a reasonable guess as to what the enemy is using. Most artillery players use shift-click, which means after firing their salvo, they'll move to a new location. In my experience the best counter-arty arty are fast firing heat mlrs with a wide zone of effect. You'll need to predict their movement, which can be done by noting the spots they're firing from (they're usually a repeated sequence).
      2: Keep your units moving as much as possible, especially after firing. Ensure static units are placed in unpredictable positions (the big forest might seem more comforting, but the tree line next to it not only gives you better LOS, it also allows you to move away more quickly if artillery does start raining down on you. Just be aware of enemy recon). Keep all your units reasonably spread out (i.e. not all hiding in that same forest on the edge of a zone).
      Some tips, maybe obvious idk.
      - always ensure you have recon. Always. Good recon can be used in both offense and defense roles, and the units themselves can be really good. It's essential.
      -Units move faster when not forested, but forests break los (movement speed will help you avoid incoming arty). If in order to keep moving you're forced to operate on open ground (open ground is tank territory, rarely inf), make sure you have a good AA net to cover you. You can do your thing in the open while baiting planes and wasting enemy supply (if arty is focusing you).
      - AA units generally don't have to move as much as you can dot them around behind your frontline. However they still need to move occasionally, especially after firing. When choosing positions for your AA look for good los and also places nearby they can relocate to.
      - as a relatively new player you should be thinking about the cost of the units you're sending out. "Am I likely to make these points back". For example I see many new players that go arty, spend all their starting points on arty, and then finish the game with less than half the points of which they started with. It has the same effect as giving the enemy free kills, i.e. taking units away from the front line.
      I'm not claiming I'm a pro player, this is just what I've learned from just over 1000hours. I still get surprised by the tactics and units players use, probably the reason why I still play.

      +Makzimiser When the plane evacs, it wants to turn back to where it came from (the air corridor). It will turn whichever way requires less turning in order to face it. If it's equally easy to turn left or right in order to face the air corridor, it will turn left.

    Your accuracy calculation is stupid and you should fix it. Being 132% of what you were before increases your damage output by exactly 32%, no matter what. Don't talk mathematics if you don't grasp it.

    • @integ3r
      @integ3r  8 лет назад +6

      Can't tell if trolling or actually this stupid. After adding the increase I illustrate the flat value that's added to the base percentage because that's a relevant number. Because I'm trying to show how 32% of shit is still shit while 32% of shittons become shittons when we see it in meaningful terms. See? All we care about is how much closer we get to a final value of 100% when a unit is actually firing. If you add 32% to nothing you're not much closer to 100% accuracy. Talk shit get hit.
      Also, when talking about tanks or just low fire-rate things, you're not gonna sit there 5ever and trade shots. You're gonna take a couple. Or even one, before backing off. Because after morale goes down the toilet, so does accuracy and firerate. So if you get the first shot off, you win. Or it's going to be one before they back off. So in those instances you only care about damage output in the first few exchanges and so you want reliability and not theoretical hurp durp damage average that you get over 10 years. For high refire things like machineguns it makes more sense to see it in terms of damage over time. Since infantry and some lighter vehicles do have a contiuous exchange.
