Lawrence Michael Levine wrote this film, and the lead character of "Allison", specifically for Aubrey. The "April Ludgate" character in Parks & Rec was written specifically for Aubrey. The "Darius" character in Safety Not Guaranteed was written with Aubrey in mind. And the "Brandy" character in The To Do List was written by writer/director Maggie Carey with Aubrey in mind to play the role. Aubrey Plaza is a very unique, special actress and woman. She generates that sort of interest and inspiration in writers. It's long past time for people to start truly recognizing how exceptional she is. And contrary to popular belief, Aubrey has already demonstrated tremendous variety in the roles she's played over her 10-or-so-year-long professional career. This notion that she keeps playing the same sort of character is simply false, ignorant, and unfair. If you like her work, please support her and see this!
Not that I dont agree that she's a very good actress, but wouldnt the point you're trying to make in this comment disprove the concept that she's demonstrated tremendous variety in her roles, if most of her roles are engineered with her in mind beforehand?

Exactly what I’m thinking the twist is. Reminds me of another movie I watched a while back, and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. But essentially a woman and a man were staying at this beach house, and they progressively become more irritated and verbally abusive with each other. The man eventually assaults the woman, sexually, and at the very end of the assault, they both get up calmly, and thank each other for their time. Apparently, it was all a paid arrangement where they role played as this toxic couple. What sticks with me the most about the ending is that the woman seems to be slightly shaken despite the whole thing being arranged, and it becomes unclear whether the assault was supposed to happen or not. And that’s the end. If anyone knows what I’m talking about, please drop the name! This was a tangent, but I expect Black Bear to be something similar. Could be wrong though.
