    Thanks for the sound test. Little old, but reviews all over say the Wahl KM are quieter than the competition. Brushless motors are in fact quieter in operation as well. I'm not a pro, but want something that will last me years and take care of these 2 long haired cats I said I'd never own, dogs, and horses on occasion. KM10 seems like the price/value winner to me. It's a lot for a guy who won't be doing this for money, but buy once, cry once, and learning to do it the right way saves a lot more money in the long run. I'll be springing for the corded KM10.

    Carbon brushes literally brush the motor causing friction, and thus cause heat and loss of energy to heat and friction. Brushless drills and power tools are all the rage these days: you get more power per weight. With dog grooming, however, brushless means the blade will probably stay cool longer since the whole brushless device runs cooler, and this is even more of an advantage in clippers than say in a drill. Five speeds seem unnecessary to me, but Andis tops at 4500 spm compared to Wahls 3700 spm, which sounds nice, but torque, which is speed under pressure, is more important than bare speed and Wahl claims to have speed adjustment under work load, so your Wahl clippers shouldn't fall below 3700 spm even when working hard, so that probably makes them about the same except that you don't have worry about adjusting your speed for the load with Wahl and you don't need 5 speed with the Wahl. Thanks for rounding out my theoretical research with a real review. Now you just have to find a Heiniger to borrow/loan trade with someone.

    I'm so upset over the whole excel cordless fiasco! I loved it but it stopped working after barely a month. I had such a difficult time getting a hold of Andis and getting them to help me. They had me send the brand new clipper BACK to them and nearly 6 weeks later they still had my clipper AND my money! I got so fed up that I bought a Wahl!!

    I was curious to what you think regards how they groom a dog. My boss has the Andis one that you just showed and she always gets more coat off with that clipper than the Wahl or Heineger.

    This is awesome! I will advise that you dont charge any of your cordless clippers unless they are dead. It will make the make the battery last longer. Dont always throw it on the charger all the time.

      Actually, that is advice for old NiCad batteries. NiCads especially had memory issues and liked to be taken all the way down and all the way up. NiMh were agreeable with sloppier charging and just like to have a charge more often. You don't want to leave NiMh around unused without intermittant charging at least. Modern batteries, however, are all going to Li ion these days, and what Li ion likes best is to hang out around 50% charge and you don't worry about memory too much. In fact if you want to store a Li ion battery without using or charging, it is best stored at around a 50% and the battery will hold that charge for a long time and not die from disuse like a NiCad or a NiMh. Google it you don't believe me.

    I have always used andis and I got one of the newest corded ones I think when I bought it it was around 200 they are like 150 now and they come in green or teal anyways that clipper is loud too like a lawn mower.... it’s also very heavy. It says it has a brushless motor but I don’t know🤷‍♀️ I’ve been wanting a whal for a long time and you video just confirmed that my next clipper will be whal I have carpal tunnel in my right hand and definitely need something with less vibration and more ummm ergonomic I guess for my hand

    So how long can the andis sit on the charging dock until it’s bad for the battery and how long should the wall be on the cord before it’s bad for the battery?

    • @OWK000
      @OWK000 11 месяцев назад

      Li ion batteries like to hang out around 50%: to be stored for instance. Once they are charged all the way up, definitely remove them from the charger, but throwing them on the charger intermittantly while in use is not necessarily a bad thing. Just aim for how much power you need for use and 50% for storage. Don't continually aim to top off to 100%, though. Also, don't charge a very cold, i.e., freezing battery, or a very hot battery.

    I bought those andis clippers and the motor stopped working after only three days. And no it’s not the battery because I have two batteries and they were both fully charged and it still didn’t work. I’m looking into the artero HIT clippers. They come with two batteries a FIVE HOUR run time and a one year warranty. The andis ones only come with a 30 warranty. Idk I always have terrible luck with andis products.

      Mine stopped working while I was grooming a dog, out of the blue! The battery was fully charged. It just went quiet, no motion, not movement, nothing, quiet! Only had it for 1 month, but fortunately I was able to send mine back. No luck with Andis either.

    • @shenalee5572
      @shenalee5572 3 года назад

      Well I did replace them and it’s been a month now and they’re still working just fine. That seems to be a common thing with those. After one month they stop. But mine was only three days. I’ve seen a ton of reviews saying they stopped after a month. But then I’ve seen more saying they’ve had them for a year and they’re still running strong. So who really knows!

      @@kimrigney7790 I watched a review where a groomer explained that andis plus zr can stop working if the blade is sitting wrong, or is not oiled enough😬

    • @NothenButHell
      @NothenButHell 3 года назад

      I have the old zr model, and it's been working great for me for years. Motor and charging base had to be replaced after 1-2 years, they got clogged with hair.
      The blades do get stuck and won't run if there isn't enough oil, it's a safety feature. Just get the blades unstuck and apply more oil to the teeth.
      I'm looking into the Artero Hit clippers so I can move my zr into a backup.
