How sublime is to watch the most optimistic and uplifting take on fashion after the crisis from the words of a designer who creates products that are widely and often wrongly perceived as dark and problematic? Thank you Tim and BOF
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Ryker Denver Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
"The point of life is just that you do your best. Because you know that eventually it will end but while you're here the whole point is to contribute and participate as best as you can". Eternal, yet topical. Topical, yet eternal. Great interview. Thank you both.
Well for Rick Owens it seems fitting for his design, which sorta sounds like it doesn’t make sense, but a lot of his clothes exemplify peak human features. By ‘peak’ I mean in top shape, very fit.
@@jordanjenkins1973 and with below 10% bodyfat^^ If i think of his no1 male model he looks exacly like him 30 years younger and blonde^^ The thing with rick is many people wear his stuff without having the proper proportions for it
Rick, I was just listening to Yamamoto say that designers should not go online and keep looking at the computer for inspiration because that would not give one the emotion of what your are seeing or what is occurring. Instead he said just copy copy copy and then finally one day YOUR unique quality will come through and the day will dawn🌅 The last part I paraphrased but I think that's the gest of it--so not to worry & may your creative Muse never tire;never dull; never cease☺
Brassac was Dior's fabric wholesaler who, to encourage production post-war, urged Dior to use a lot and so supplied him with very expensive fabrics at an initial loss, only to see the profits roll in to the point that DIOR was responsible for 50% of French exports within a short time. It was a market move - not entirely due to 'a lack'.
6:18 - "The point of life is that you just do your best - (...) eventually it will end, but while you're here (...) contribute and participate as best as you can". And use your shoulders to defy bigotry!
I used to love Tim but now when I analyze how he interviews, he interrupts the designer and then interjects an adjective to subliminally manipulate the designer's answer to his question. It makes me wonder, was everything he did manipulated? For me, I'd rather allow the designer answer with his own thoughts, let the viewers create their own opinions. Tbh, I bet some of the designers just want the work to talk rather than having to romanticize their work which sounds great but once you're in the store, the clothes look disappointing and ridiculously prized.
almost died in this interview; going on full throttle in abstract isn't terribly exciting to listen to and it borders on airy-fairy fluff, which i'd say is good for students taking philosophy or a module in abstract art. not that abstraction is bad; i love it but we're gonna need more details. Otherwise it tastes like a really underbaked souffle.

Kinda neat to see the designer of the year chilling shirtless in his living room just not thinking too highly of himself not to do that. Nice.
